Mask Wearer

Screams and tears,
Heralds of pain.
One word, one sentence said,
Shouts reverberate
At anger’s unaccountable threads.
Unwinding on undeserving face,
Brings frustration’s pain to a head,
As tears wend
Unheeded down cheeks.
Tense and locked, teeth grind,
While loneliness howls
Under well kept masks.
For without a friend to talk to,
Anger roils the mind,
Turning gentleness to fierce hate and agony.
Dreams of terror, fear
Plague the night when,
All alone, all is fright.

Author's Notes: This is one of several more poems I found. When I wrote them, I’m not sure. Probably before I was taken out of that school in New Jersey where I almost lost my hold on this world. Possibly as reflections once I was out of there, remembering what happened to me there. I can’t remember and I didn’t date them. Some of them are pretty, some aren’t, some are obvious attempts to imitate some style I must have been either studying or interested in at the time. If you wish to comment, don’t hesitate to do so.
Hmmm.... More pain, more agony... I did seem to write quite a bit about that... Guess this was my only outlet for it. I don't really remember. Though I do hate crying... It hurts more to cry than to be hit, for me... Always has. Oh well. It's there.
