Idiot's Tangle

Oh what a mess.
But I got myself into it,
Thus I must get myself out.
But what a tale it seems to spin.
At least for the enjoyment,
Or laughter,
Of others for my folly.
First, work had been slow,
So I asked for prosperity,
For us all, not just me.
So I hope I didn’t get
Any personal gain from that.
Well, we got it…
Where I work,
It’s the best pizza in town.
And the people proved that tonight.
Slammed it was
All night.
Of all places,
The dish room,
Where I work when
Not out delivering,
Didn’t close till after 2,
When normally,
We’re done by 1.
The store got the prosperity.
I did not.
First was a 20 pie delivery.
Ouch!
Then it was a lost check.
And boy was I in trouble!
The woman was kind enough,
To give me another,
But that caused problems
For the store.
Then I didn’t get any of my tips,
Cause the manager
Forgot in the whole mess
With the lost,
Then too late found check.
So I come home,
Feeling more idiot than usual,
And poorer that I had hoped,
Dealing with joint pain
That’ll keep me up all night.
But be this a lesson
For me and all,
Don’t ask for something,
And then gripe about the consequences.
I only hope
This lesson gets through
My notoriously thick skull.
For an Idiot’s Tangle I did create
And now that knot must be unmade,
Through my personal penance
Thus I ask now,
For blessings on the family
For whom I caused so many problems.
They were kinder than I deserved,
And more understanding
Than I expected.
Be they well, safe, happy,
Whole and prosperous
Always!
At least this I believe,
Can’t turn back on me,
Three-fold.
So mote it be!
