The Craft

Wisdom, Insight, Strength, and Emotions
Will never be won through paltry potions.
A lifelong quest it is you see,
To ‘know thyself’ honorably.
Not man, nor wife, nor lifelong friend
Can prove themselves true to the end.
So rely not on folk for your power,
Or prepare to meet your darkest hour
Of torment to pay the heavy toll,
For sapping strength from another's soul.
A solitary path's the one to take,
To gain such skills for healing's sake.
And now to you a riddle I’ll tell:
Faith and Craft mix never well.
Logic, Feeling, and Belief as one,
First through the Moon, then the Sun.

Author's Notes: This poem was inspired by some hard lessons in my life. The most important was that we are each responsible for our own completion first. Recognize your nature by accepting your divine masculine/feminine and strive for self-excellence through service to others (the looking glass rarely lies) !
Also, the "Search for Power" is really a fools errand as it is divinely outsourced (meaning some God/Goddess/metaphysical presence has the power, NOT you) . Assessment of personal power is also subjectively relative and hence illusory. Personal responsibility and honor are sure ways to increase the potency of your willpower and character respectively.
Reliance on external sources to support or supplant your own energy will always result in an inversely equal energy crash (when the external source is eventually consumed) .
Finally, spiritual enlightenment (self-actualization, etc) is an alignment of internal forces through the self from the physical plane to the metaphysical plane (although by no means do you HAVE to be a solitary to experience this!) . The riddle and last two lines hint at this...
