Follow Your Heart

Follow Your Heart
You always live with honor and stand by what is right
You've always met him half-way and more, without a fight
Despite your inner anguish you do not compromise
And though he's hurt you often, your pain you will disguise
Oppression of the spirit has taken many forms
You're careful not to challenge his habits and his norms
You weigh each step with caution and look in each direction
You wish to fade like vapor, so deep is your discretion
It seems like a whole lifetime you've seen your life slip by
There is so much to live for if only you could fly
The goals you held in days gone, no longer satisfy
When stunted growth is urging to let it out and cry
Still, you are not a quitter, and reason is your sword
You seek advice and counsel from Lady and from Lord
And gently they will tell you "act honestly your part"
"Be fair but firm whenever you're following your heart"
Whenever fog is clearing decisions can not wait
Your choice is never spiteful, you do not harbor hate
You gave it all, your best shot, its time to leave the nest
Your heart is full of faith now; your legs will do the rest.
