Today I Walk Alone

Today I Walk Alone
This is but a song.
Just a simple song,
For the one I love
Who lives within my heart.
Never does me wrong.
Tells me I belong.
No one else above.
Never will she part.
She lives within, quietly filling my day.
In my dreams we spend hours at play.
The caress of her touch is so sweet--
And I treasure her hugs when we meet.
Will she hold my hand?
Will she understand
That a love complete
Is a love for two?
More than I could stand,
It would be so grand
If she'd tell me sweet,
That "I love you too."
Last night the rain fell outside and within.
Today it still rains. The winners are her kin.
Her gentle nature which love does not measure
Ignored her needs, giving others her treasure.
All this paused my heart,
We must live apart.
So I walk alone
As I often do
Rememb'ring that love
Flies free like a dove;
Knowing that to live
Our love we must give.
