The Wheel of the Year

The Wheel of the Year
We started the wheel only just when
We celebrate new year at Samhain
The God is reborn as a rule
Each year in the dark days at Yule
In winter say elderly folk
Life starts with the promise of Imbolc
With flowers of spring as tiara
We celebrate Goddess Ostara
The Great Rite the world will maintain
With union Divine at Beltane
Midsummer some claim "dolce vita"
With dreams by the bard when its Litha
Lughnasadh is for loaves not for llamas
First harvest with bread we call Lammas
Full harvest with dancing and much fun
Our eight Sabbath comes when its Mabon

Author's Notes: Helping the young to remember the Sabbaths of the year can be a challenge. I composed this rhyme to help with this situation. I realize that my poem can use help and improvement.
