From the Outside
I see your eyes and follow your gaze
The day is clear but your eyes peer through haze
The world is concealed in your magick play
A place unearned smiles on your lips betray
So often I wonder, who are you today?
What roles do we have, who am I this day?
Romantic, heroic, or gentle and dear?
Seductive and handsome with eyes bright and clear?
And tell me this moment, the part that you play
Companion, or lover, with laughter so gay?
I look at your features—if messages sending
Invite me, delight me, with joy never-ending
Still caught in the moment, eternal and silent
No hint of what’s raging, if peaceful or violent
Your hair and your lips, the features I treasure
Conceal a whole world of mystical pleasure
The moment is magick, of essence so fleeting
I dare not disturb you with anxious entreating
Could you be entangled in some distant longing?
Or could you be simply re-living, belonging?
