Once upon a mountain

Once upon a mountain
Once upon a mountain,
The world was at my feet
Once upon a morning,
The scent of life was sweet
The fields and hills with flowers,
With magic they’d contrive
To cast a spell enchanting
So glad to be alive!
Once upon a season,
The world was fresh and new;
When stars which filled the heavens
Transformed to morning dew.
And rainbows in the sunshine
Was all I saw above
Sublime anticipation
Unsure of what is love.
Once upon a moment
Your eyes so bright and clear
A smile so very playful
So far and yet so near
I held you for a moment
Eternity unbound
The treasure of a lifetime
So few had ever found
The years of gallant struggle
Would put us to the test
We grew so close together
By heaven we felt blessed
Through endless years of summer
We saw our dreams come true
And though the world grew older
My youth I found in you.
I still remember flowers,
And smiles before I sleep
The dew, the stars, the mountain
Are not for us to keep
For in the autumn’s twilight
I’ve come to realize
The beauty of the springtime
Still lives, within your eyes.
