Behind Bars

Behind Bars
The sun always rose and set
Though I can't recall the stars
And each day had its regret
Which seemed to fade in bars
Morning coffee and shower
No one to tease or to blame
No need to check the hour
Each day was just the same
Twenty years or twenty hours
When you're trapped they feel the same
No escape, you have no powers
No one else have you to blame
Then one time you take your chances
Up to heaven you appeal
To the One you pray with glances
Humble heart you will reveal
Slowly you will hear an answer
Spoken gently to your heart
Your affliction is a cancer
Which can strike the weak or smart
I will grant your wish to stop
You'll experience life anew
But from then on sole to top
Do the rest, you must be true.
