I saw you sitting beneath the porch,
watter dripping from the overhang.
Thunder rumbled outside
as the drisly rain made a grey gloom,
perfect for today.
I wish I was with you,
sitting wrapped up in a towel,
cold wet lonely.. hurt.
I know what it feels like,
to be alone and empty.
I don't know what to say to you,
I can't make the pain go away,
not even my own.
I wish I could.
This pain isn't meant to be,
but it's there, and I can't help.
Somedays it gets worse,
somedays it fades, but it's always there.
I let you inside, everything's all smiles instead
of the gloom, but it doesn't last.
I stand here, listening to you wanting him back.
You will always want him back.
I can't say what he feels,
what he wants, not even what you
really truly want, but still...
It's this kind of loneliness, of wanting
and waiting that tears us apart. It's torn me apart,
a while ago. It leaves us empty,
shells of sadness, but,
only if we let it.
Author's Notes: Real story about a friend that wasn't a friends.. going through a break up that wasn't a break up...
