Snippy Women

Age Group: Adult
Snippy women, wild women, wyrding women
made the way for simpering women to lay
claim. Hewed the wilderness, charmed the beasts
chose the men and the seed, taught daughters
to be snippy, witchy, wild and free.
Snippy women, wild women, wyrding women
called the circle, made the rain then fed their
world on wild oats and blackberry tea,
charmed honey from bee and mead from honey
to warm winter nights when flames needed flaring.
Snippy women, wild women, wyrding women
beneath the moon, raised their arms, stepped in tune
and pulled magic from the stars, wove it well,
draped round them like a cloak then sent a spell
making fertile their kind for all time.
Snippy women, wild women, wyrding women
raised their voices in forests deep, by rivers
stretching into infinity and called Old Ones
to come dance by their side outside of time.
Snippy women, wild women, wyrding women
know the now from the forever, see the cauldrons
broth turning from afar, know not all women
can stir a Mighty Brew so they stand by their own
kind- snippy women, wild women, wyrding women!
