Tending the Flesh

Age Group: Adult
Off from a curve on a long ago road,
back where the Spruce and the Pampas grass grows.
Gnarled as the Walking Stick guarded by the crows,
there is flesh to be tended in neat little rows.
Heavy are the elderberries wise on the vine,
Angel Trumpets hanging mute
beauty is their poison,
their poison is their flesh.
There is flesh to be tended
where the viney fingers twine.
Gargoyles gurgle to the dancing of the snakes
A lion spits green on the pussy willow stalks
If you listen hard enough you can hear them talk,
there is flesh to be tended
where the wiggle worms rot.
Berries bend their brambles
the cherub bends it's knees
trapped in the bondage of the Honeysuckle leaves.
Hidden by the little path through the Paw Paw trees
there is flesh to be tended
where the ground sinks and heaves.
Grapes hanging heavy overhead
a bright purple clot
witche's butter on the cherry tree
running like snot,
the creek around the Golden Chain
will wash your sins white as snow
where the flesh has been tended
clean down to the bone.
Cherub in bondage
awaiting it's fate
the air filled with honeysuckle
behind the gate
there is flesh to be tended,
the flesh cannot wait.
Author's Notes: A very disturbing dream, beautiful, but disturbing...
