What Is Your Inner Animal?
Do you tend to ‘bark’ at people? Howl at the Moon perhaps? Do you have catlike reflexes or can your psychic ‘whiskers’ pick up nearby energy vibrations? Do you have a ‘nest’ or like to ‘burrow’ under the covers? Do you actually even growl sometimes?
What animal traits do you think that you sometimes exhibit? Has anyone ever told you that you remind him/her of some animal?
How much of an animal nature do you think that we humans might retain? Should we attempt to completely conquer or tame the ‘animal’ within? Or do you consider your inner animal to be an ally or alter-ego?
What is the name of your inner animal? If you share space with an actual animal, does the animal (or animals) consider you ‘one of them’? Can you and your animal friends communicate in mysterious ways?

My brown puppy is the first dog i've ever lived with and i treasure him with all my being. He's been with us for five years, after my husband convinced me that we couldn't live without a dog. I had spent most of my life in fear of dogs.
He gives unconditional love and is filled with healing energy, which he shares freely. His psychic powers are really cool: he knows exactly when to give to someone in need and can detect changes in a family member's health or alert us to strange energies entering our household.
i have been shown through dreams that my puppy has been part of at least one of my past lives and i am appreciative that his soul has sought me out in this lifetime.
| My Guide & My Shadow ||Apr 14th. at 12:04:25 pm UTC|

I have a spirit animal who guides me along my chosen path. But I also have a shadow animal who appears when I'm at my worst or most vulnerable. Both are helpful. Guide helps me focus and Shadow warns when I'm about to trip.
My shadow is Horse. She's very strong but when she was young she was taught that everyone is stronger & better than her. Horse believes this is still true so she meekly goes along w/ the will of others, letting them control her & use her strength for their well-being, not hers. If others ill-use her too severely Horse doesn't confront them, she runs from them.
When Horse shows up in my life I know I'm denying my higher self & falling back into old, self-destructive habits. I heed her warning & get back on track.
My guide is Fox. She handles any difficulty with her great intelligence, perceptiveness & intuition. She's wise enough to know she has a right to stand up for herself but also knows when cunning is better than confrontation. If Fox must fight she goes all-out. Fox is fiercely loyal to her own & protects herself & those she loves w/ every power she has. But Fox never borrows trouble; she would much rather frisk about & enjoy life. Fox doesn't feel unworthy when good things come her way.
When Fox is around I feel comfortable. She connects only w/ my true self & won't have anything to do w/ false fronts or neuroses, & she will not settle for less than my best. Fox means my personal universe is unfolding as it should.

I would have to say that my animal is the Wolf. I feel her in my head, my body and soul. She helped me to gain my soul sister who has Wolf and Dragon in her. The Wolf has helped me to find who I am, and what I can do. Because of her, I now speak my mind more, and dont really care what "normal" people think of me. I have found my religion because of her. I have found my way in life, although it gets obscured at times, she helps to push the branches out of my way to see.She has brought me dreams of what my desires are and what I need to be, free. I have to say that I have also taken on alot of Wolf's personality into my self. I growl, yip, and snap like her. I also have vivid dreams of myself running with her and others, also, I tend to want to run under the moon and howl to Luna to sing praise to her. I definately have to say that the Wolf is a big part of me.

Through experience i think people are similar to their animal guides but on two levels. Perhaps we have an animal which we aim to be like and then the animal that we actually are. For example my animal guide came to me in a vision. It is the frog. True, not a particularly desirable animal in comparison to a wolf or stag but i couldnt ask for a better guardian. Looking at a frog with its shimmering greens and yellows i can only see beauty, grace and fun. Its an amazingly beautiful creature and beleiving im a frog inside and that i have their friendship makes me feel i have their delightful qualities. I love my frog! However when i asked my witch and non-witch friends what they thought my animal was they all said a black cat. Not a white cat or a tabby cat but quite definatly a black cat. I dont dislike cats (im just allergic to them) so i took their comments as a compliment considering cats are very similar in my eyes to a frog (graceful, slinky, mysterious) but i also realised that if anyone else (besides myself) said that i reminded them of a frog i would be highly insulted. So inside im a frog, outside im a cat even though secretly i'd like people to think i was a meercat because frankly they're so cool!

To answer the questions in the order in which they were asked, (and in an attempt to stay on topic this time:) )
What animal traits do you think that you sometimes exhibit?
Well, referring directly to the percieved qualities of the two animals that I feel the most affinity for, like the lizard, I am or seem to be fairly detatched from the world, and like the raptorial birds (usually a rather large golden eagle when he lets himself be noticed) I am considered by many of the people who know me to be fairly aloof.
Has anyone ever told you that you remind him/her of some animal?
No, but I may not have been listening if they did (I am not trying to be funny here, I really do mean it.)
How much of an animal nature do you think that we humans might retain?
I think that the amount of animal nature that we retain, quite separately from the amount that we exhibit (which I believe is another issue all together) differes from person to person. How much animal do I retain? I have no idea. I really see very little difference (aside from physicality) between animals and people anyway.
Should we attempt to completely conquer or tame the ‘animal’ within? Or do you consider your inner animal to be an ally or alter-ego?
As with the previous question, I believe this issue to be one of personal preference, but that you should think long and hard before purging yourself of all animal attributes. Just in case there is a reason that we are like this.
What is the name of your inner animal?
Well, I tend to refer to them as lizard and eagle, if they want to be addressed in any other way, I figure that they'll let me know.
If you share space with an actual animal, does the animal (or animals) consider you ‘one of them’?
For a while I had a little grey tom, and he considered me more a combination jungle gym and food dispenser than anything else, unless it was bath day! But the cat I grew up with was special enough hang around healthy, and very active until after I moved out of the house for good three years ago. She's about twenty one, and has only really started to slow down since I left (at least that is what my mother says.)
Can you and your animal friends communicate in mysterious ways?
I haven't found an animal to share my home with, and I'm not sure if I will anytime soon.

I purr, and bask in the sunlight, I have to wiggle around in bed until it feels like just the right place, I sneak around on quiet tiptoes...I touch things with a light inquisitive fingertip and then pounce on the things that feel like they are mine -- I am inquisitive, and aggressive. I am drawn to tiger eye stones, earth tones and animals with great shaggy furry manes...a big cat, perhaps?

MY INNER ANIMAL IS A CELTIC DRAGON. I AM VERY QUIET UNTIL AWAKEN. LORD HELP YOU IF I GET MAD. YOU CAN SEE IT THROUGH MY EYES AND SPEECH. I DO NOT YELL BUT MY WORDS ARE FIRM. WHEN I WALK I HAVE CONFIDENCE AND STRIFE.THAT IS MY SCOTTISH/ IRISH SIDE.
THEN WHEN I AM CLOSER TO MY NATIVE AMERICAN FEELINGS I AM A WOLF. AGAIN QUIET UNTIL DISTURBED. PROTECTIVE OF MY PACK AND CLAN.EVERYONE HAS AN INNER ANIMAL. AS IN MY HOUSE IS FILLED WITH CELTIC DRAGONS AND FAERY'S.

The first totem animal I encountered during meditation had everyone stumped. A sheep - named "Melchior". I finally decided he was a holdover from my strictly ingrained Christian religion, but he said he would teach me wisdom and I have found him to be a great help.
The second one is a Mother Bear, and she has made me the butt of my childrens' jokes from time to time, but I am very protective and can't help it.

A cat, by goddess, a cat. I'll actually meowl if startled, not knowing I'm doing it. I can speak to my two cats in their own language, and they talk back... The cat would not be my choice, but frankly it is what I am most like.
When I was younger I lived in a very isolated house with a forest behind it. There was no city, no neighbours, no other children so I spent much of my time communicating with the animals and have a strongly developed "animal self"...so much so that I don't really belong in the human world. My inner animal is not something to be "conquered" or even really allied with because it already IS me, is part of me, entwined with me.
I don't have a name for this animal self. When I was younger I always felt a kinship with unicorns. My totem animal is a bat.

I think my main inner animal is a cat. I adopted/rescued a long-haired black cat 2 years ago after having kidney donor surgery. He lives at the farm where my other soulmates (my horses) live. I can be 'catty' and sharp at times, but love to snuggle, very much like "Harry" does.

i think my inner amnimal is a bird. i like to fly away sometimes to meet new horizons at the same time i like to be just like a bird in a crowd or family however i am a very individual bird, very is often alone and yet it very easy to meet and mingle with people sometimes it kills me emotionally to be so independent it makes me feel very lonely....somehow i feel i lost my mate in the process...
