Question of the Week: 59 - 9/11/2001 911 America: Talking Through The Terror... Talking Through The Terror... And helping each other cope with the tragedies that struck at the very heart of the United States. The Witches Voice has opened up this forum in order that Pagans may express their thoughts on the terrorist attacks that took place in NYC and DC on September 11th. As the full realization of what happened and the toll numbers begin to come in, Americans have many challenges ahead. What are your thoughts on these incidents? How are you feeling? Feel free to post any magickal workings or other support gatherings planned in your area. I don't think I'll ever forget this day as long as I live. People wandering the streets, mouths covered, looks of disbelief and numbed stun on their faces. Wide avenues, capable of 4-5 cars deep, empty, except for the lone emergency vehicle screaming down it with sirens blasting. People handing out fruit, bagels, water to those of us standing in line to give blood. Strangers finding solace in each other...hidden looks of relief or worry. Shops, restaurants closed...a quietness that would make you think it's still Labor Day. As we approach the Fall Equinox, please put your spiritual energies into finding the balance once again. So many need our thoughts and prayers--from the families to the rescue workers still battling the fires. May the gods protect us all. |

Here in New Zealand the shock has been felt all round the Country. For some (inexplicable?!) reason my partner & I woke up at 2.00am this morning ans switched on the BBC World news, and were grief-sticken and horrified to see the twin towers collapsing. The whole country has felt the shock, and it is all anyone will talk about ~ our hearts go out to you all. As a pagan, I will be lighting candles and sending all of the positive mental energy I can possibly muster, and I'm sure all other Kiwi pagans/wiccans etc will be doing the same. I know from the comments around me at work that even everday kiwi's are sending their thoughts and prayers to you all. I agree with Issac Bonewits that now is not the time to focus on retribution, but to focus on all of the love, energy and support we can send to those struggling for survival, and to those trying to help them. Please know that we are with you in spirit. Love and peace to you all |

I keep wondering when the news will stop and they will say it was all a hoax... alas, it is not to be. I saw Peter Jennings on the news tonight break into tears while reporting on the horror. I saw someone jump to their death on "live" TV. My hope is that the Gods watch over those who have lost their loved ones, keep them safe, and keep the rest of us safe. Goddess Bless! |

I am in Canada and feel the effects of the tragedy today which has reached out to all peoples across all cultures all countries... I pray to the gods and the goddess that we can be strong in our magic, that the effects of suspicion and retaliation do not cause racism and hatred to prevail. I have had some really life altering dreams lately before this incident. I will band with the pagans of the world to send positive energy and enlightenment. Let us hope that the message we need the world to take out of this which is: love and light. That the people of our Mother Earth can walk on sacred lands together. My heart goes out to the Handicapped left behind in the twin towers today as well as the other deceased who never had a chance to make it out, as well as our American Citizens who come from the Middle East. I have friends who have already began to experience discrimination in their neighborhoods. The ethereal light of the world will go on, let us hope that we strive together as a collective consciousness for love and peace. |

At 8 pm EST The Sentient Temple gathered in mind, spirit, and those that were close, by physical means in the Temple's circle to send their combined Maya Reiki Spiritual healings/energies to those that were either directly or indirectly involved in the de-virginizing of our great nation. Numbness and disbelief are just two words out of a myriad that could be used to describe the feelings as I sat and watched the days tragedy unfold. I had more than a few wishes for retrabution, however that is not what is needed. As Mr. Bonewits has already said, we need to focus on what is needed now. We need to send positive energy and thoughts to those who may remain trapped and to those working to save those who can be saved and recover and clean up. Revenge will come in time and hatred is the last thing we need right now. My heart and thoughts are with those who are in need of help and with those families affected. It is indeed a very sad day... Goddess bless and shine her light upon those who are affected... May the Lord of the Forest lend forth his strength... BB. |

Having grown up in the shadow of New York City, and with many family members in the area, I was stunned. Then I watched, horrified, as the Tower collapsed. I remember, as an adolescent, standing on the deck of one of the Towers, speechless that I could be so high. Two brothers work in Manhattan, and fortunately, neither was in that part of downtown, though one nearly was; he had been scheduled for a work meeting that morning on Water Street near the Towers. A last minute change kept him out of the area. Thank the Goddess and God.... If I'm feeling the way I am, I cannot fathom how the families of the missing and the dead are feeling tonight; may all spiritual energy and strength go their way tonight. |

I would like to send my blessings to all the families who lost loved ones today. Also to thank all of the brave people who risked their lives to save some of them. I hope that all of the people responsible or this get what they deserve from the United States and the Gods serve them the same punishment. This is truely a sad day and will be remembered forever.... May the Gods and Goddesses watch over us all and may we have their blessings. We must be strong in this time and everyone Witches, Christains, Peagans, Jews, and every other religion must pray and ask the higher being hey belive in to help.
