| As A Military Pagan, I Can Offer This:what We Witnessed Today... | Sep 11th. at 11:04:51 pm EDT |

| Don Branum (Montgomery, Alabama US) | Age: 26 - Email |

As a military Pagan, I can offer this:
What we witnessed today was not simply a terrorist act. It was an act of war; further, it was a war crime. Today, I mourn both the innocent men and women who died in the New York attack, and the men and women, my brothers and sisters in arms, who died in the Washington, D.C. attack.
Tomorrow, I may be called to do more than mourn. . . though, more than likely, I will not. If I am called, I will respond.
I will *always* remember where I was on 11 September 2001, at 0748 Central Time.
But in the meantime, my life marches on. My cats will still demand their fresh food and water as part of their morning ritual. I will continue to do what I sought to do when I joined the service, by helping people wherever and whenever I can.
And I will join my brothers and sisters of every nationality and every religion in greeting tomorrow as the new day it is: with renewed faith, courage, and compassion.

| This Is A Senseless Tragedy, And A Trumpet Call None Of Us... | Sep 11th. at 11:07:40 pm EDT |

| Amy (Vancouver, British Columbia CA) | Age: 32 - Email |

This is a senseless tragedy, and a trumpet call none of us can ignore. No matter what name or face we give to the Divine, no matter what geographical area we live in, THIS event unites the world and all humanity.
I have lit a white candle and put as much love and wishes for peace and energy as I could into it... AND IT IS NOT BURNING DOWN! The flame never wavers, the wax is not burning down. I am stunned, I have never seen this happen before. This is a small miracle in the face of the events of this sad sad day.
I agree with all my brothers and sisters in the Craft of the Wise, now is not the time for retribution, rather it is a time for an uniting of intent and putting forward our best to The Great Work. This is the sort of thing the great works of the witches in England did in the second world war... can we do less?
I sincerely pray that we do not escalate into WAR, or even genocide.
The world has changed today, forever... and only the Gods know for sure what it will become. I urge all of us to unite and put forth our love and magick and hopefully we can add our power to that of all our brothers and sisters of all faiths and nationalities and make it a good place after all!
Blessed Be!

| Currently On The Outside, Looking In, But Liking A Lot Of What... | Sep 11th. at 11:07:53 pm EDT |

| Richard (MARTELLE, Iowa US) | Age: 39 - Email |

Currently on the outside, looking in, but liking a lot of what I'm reading (Scott Cunningham's "Wicca for the Solitary Practitioner")and hearing ("lurking" in WitchVox (BBoard-sense only; don't read anything sinister into the statement:-)). My toe's wet, and I'm strongly debating wading in.
In light of this morning's horror, I found this Spell for Easing Grief link:
http://www.angelfire.com/tx/creativethoughts/easinggrieforsadness.html
I'm sure many folk have their own, but it does evoke some comforting imagery, and I think some restoration of comfort to those of us who remain is in order. I can only hope it helps someone in the manner it did me today.
I find my personal belief system is more in line with what I am experiencing through the book and the Vox than what I have been raised in (Judeo-Chrisitianity), and continue in my Wicca readings and studies. I look forward to communicating (and communing)with fellow believers. Please feel free to e-mail me with constructive words and suggestions. May the God and Goddess protect and keep thee in these Troubled Times. Blessed be.

| It Is With Great Sorrow That We See Events Such As This... | Sep 11th. at 11:12:18 pm EDT |

| Siryn Dolphinsong, Aydan McEverett and The Southern Circle of the Willow Moon (Albany, Georgia US) | Age: 35 - Email |

It is with great sorrow that we see events such as this today. Though anger is a justified emotion, we must rationalize who we focus it on as jumping to conclusions would bring us to the level of those who created this mayhem.
I am not one to turn the other cheek, it's just spontaneity at this time could I believe multiply the disasters. After it is determined who deployed this murderous event then balance shall prevail.
Wouldn't it beneficial right now to use our strengths to send many positive and empathetic energies to the victims and their families that are left behind?
Energies should as well go to the victims that have survived this tragedy as it is for sure, they will be suffering not only from physical injuries but in their mindset from what only was seen by their eyes first hand.
We have affiliates who are Pagans/Witches and are military who will be taking a risk soon themselves to be sent in the recovery process. We pray for them as well as anyone that braves such a task.
Warmly, Siryn

| Many People Will Ask In Future Years, "what Were You Doing When... | Sep 11th. at 11:13:57 pm EDT |

| Jamie (Dekalb & Melrose Park/Northlake (Chicago), Illinois US) | Age: 20 - Email |

Many people will ask in future years, "What were you doing when NYC and DC were attacked? Me? I was being lazy. Honestly! I did not want to go to my 9:30 class. Then I heard my phone ring twice, 9:10ish. I didn't want to get down from my bed, my roommate didn't wake up. So, I ignored it. I did get up maybe 10 minutes later. I was awake enough to realize, why would someone call me twice? So, I checked my voicemail. My boyfrend called. He's screaming for me to turn on the tv, telling me of the terror that has happened. I basically started to be hysterical. I turned on the tv, woke my roommate, turned on my computer. We all know what unfolded after that. My next fear was on Chicago. My family, my friends. They live 5 miles away from O'Hare airport. I have a friend that works on the 75th floor of the Sears Tower. My step-father works at one of the major hospitals in the Loop. I still fear for my family, my friends. My gut tells me that none of this is over. The US, the world, is paralyzed. What happens tomorrow? What happens when we "relax" a bit? As I have said to many people, many times today, tonite is a time to pray to whatever diety(s) you believe in. Petty arguments need to be put aside. Tonite is a night to pray for the victims, pray that this ends.
May the God and Goddess watch over our whole nation, our whole world, on this sad, sad, night, and these days after.
~~Angel~~

| I Am Not Only Sad Because Of This, But Also Terrified, Not... | Sep 11th. at 11:16:08 pm EDT |

| Buddha Eireagle (Austin, Texas US) | Age: 14 - Email |

I am not only sad because of this, but also terrified, not of the terrorists, but of my own country. Today, thousands of my brothers, my sisters, my mothers and fathers have died. Probably even more will die beneath the rubble tonight and tomorrow. And though i am sad, i feel no anger for those who hijacked the plane because they were doing what they THOUGHT was right at the time, and they were also probably a little insane, as are all people who would think of taking a human life. But we have to realize that they did this for a reason. Whether it be the united state's cultural imperialism, or the fact that we are the global nobility, or that we are allies of Israel, or turning Iraq into little more than a bomb crater, we have to identify why they hate us so much that they would kill, and work to change that. For even if we destroy every terrorist group there is, like the hydra, 3 times as many will pop up. We cannot resolve this with blood, but with love. But not everyone, espiecally in the government, will realize this, and this is why im terrified. if the terrorists are from the middle east, which they probably are, and iraq or palestine or whomever are harboring them, we will almost certainly go to war with them, and so libya, and egypt, and china, and all of the other countries that are our "enemies" will go to war with us and our allies. to put it another way, WWIII.:(

| I Am Sure All Of You Feel The Same Way I Do... | Sep 11th. at 11:25:24 pm EDT |

| Gwynwhyfar (Owensville, Ohio US) | Age: 27 - Email |

I am sure all of you feel the same way I do about this horrific tragedy; shock, disbelief, deep sadness, a deep gut-wrenching feeling in the pit of your stomach. It's very difficult to understand how some person or group can harbor enough hate to commit such acts of evil. I have been holding a candlelight vigil in my home since I found out about the attacks. I am using the candle to direct my love and energy to all who need it in this crisis especially the victims, rescue workers and the victims loved ones. My heart goes out to all of you. ~Blessings and Love to All~ We all need to pull together on this, help out in any way you can by money donations, giving blood or volunteering. Go to www.RedCross.org for more information.

| After A Long Night Of Not Being Able To Sleep I Turned... | Sep 11th. at 11:27:12 pm EDT |

| Turtle Moonchild (Billlings, Montana US) | Age: 40 - Email |

After a long night of not being able to sleep I turned on the TV this morning to discover tragedy. My initial thoughts were shock, fear and pain. To all the family and friends of those harmed or killed, both on the ground or in the planes, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
First and foremost we must take care of the living, then we mourn our dead. Take a few moments to donate blood if possible, check in your area to see if any type of aid program is being set up and volunteer. Then take a deep breath and release some of the anger. We need to take care not to take this out on the innocent people of other faiths. So much talk is being said about blaming the Moslem and Islamic terrorist groups for this, the key word here being terrorist. These are not the average person of Islamic faith, we have been persecuted and hounded, let's take the time and caution to make sure we don't do that to them.
Lastly, all many of us can do is say a prayer. Pray for clear thought as we deal with this tragedy. Pray for both the living and those lost. Pray for those who are still buried in the rubble, and the men and women who work to find them, the men and women who are doing their best to heal them. Then take the time to pray that this doesn't happen again, here or anywhere else in the world.

| This Is Going To Be One Of Those "where Were You When... | Sep 11th. at 11:30:11 pm EDT |

| Artemis (Manchester, Connecticut US) | Age: 20 - Email |

This is going to be one of those "Where were you when.." kind of days. In my lifetime, the Challenger explosion and the Berlin Wall are the major tragedies that spring to mind, but this engulfs them all. I'm not really sure what to do. I will be giving blood at the first opportunity tomorrow... it just feels weird to go on with my normal activities in the face of this tragedy. Being relatively close by, in CT, there's a definite nervous sense of nearness to home. I appreciate being able to come here for a supportive Pagan perspective, and my thanks to WitchVox for creating this forum for us to share with. There are some activist perspectives at indymedia, but they are dominantly political, and I find I can only read so much rhetoric.
May our candles burn for the dead and wounded, as well as those still trapped awaiting aid. As political an act as this was, my first thought is for the people involved. My prayers are lifted to the gods for them.
May the coming days and weeks see a cautious and thorough investigation in the place of right-wing reactionism.
Let our understanding shield us, and prevent this tragedy from spreading any further.
Peace to everyone.
-Artemis

| My Thoughts, Concerns, And Prayers, At This Moment, Are For The Victims... | Sep 11th. at 11:39:16 pm EDT |

| Sia Fox (Biloxi, Mississippi US) | Age: 38 - Email |

My thoughts, concerns, and prayers, at this moment, are for the victims who may still be struggling to remain alive under the enormous amounts of debris, for the victims who have been rescued and seriously injured, and for the family members who are grieving. Tonight, my candles are lit for them.

| I Woke Up This Morning At 4:00 Am.. From A Dream... | Sep 11th. at 11:49:07 pm EDT |

| Ravon (Calgary , Alberta CA) | Age: 50 - Email |

I woke up this morning at 4:00 am.. from a dream, in that dream I was walking in a dark tunnel filled with hundreds of black bats they were clinging to me.. at the end there was a white bat.. I awoke with the feeling that something terrable would happen to day.. I did protection around my home before I left for work.. and when I got there I heard the first news.. It does not seem real and I can not imagine how the people who were there are able to carry on as they are doing.. I watch the tv and see the strength of the human spirit in this time of terror.. and I see the power we are given in times like this.. May cool heads prevail.. and may there be no more distruction. I do not have any more words to say except my thoughts are with you all. Ravon )0(
