Question of the Week: 13 - 10/30/2000 Divination This week's Pagan Perspective question is about other things that may lie in the future...or speak again from the past. Divination, scrying, inner journeying and many other techniques are often used during the times when the veils between the worlds are thin. This seems to be an exceptionally powerful and spiritually energetic season. Did you/will you perform any divinations this week? Did you have any unusual-even for you!- experiences that were either hard to explain or especially powerful? See any ghosts? (Wren loves ghost stories!) |

A friend of mine and I went to the old Capitol, which is now Capital Park in Tuscaloosa, for Sovven. We went towards the back and I began opening my circle, as she was just there to support me (she's not wiccan, but quite open). I found a nice big rock (which, after going back the next day, was NOT there) to use as my altar, and lit my three altar candles. Things were going fine, and I even chose that night to dedicate myself to Wicca (yep, after a year spent practicing and testing my wings, I decided to do it!). Well, as I was drawing to the end of my ritual, she looked over her shoulder. This did not bode well. She told me to finish up, as there was a spirit walking around. I "looked" and there was a spirit. But apparently, not the same one she was seeing. That's right, there were TWO spirits who had decided to come. I was afraid to close the circle...ok, yeah, silly, I know...I felt safer in it...but she said just do it. I did, and she said he'd wandered off, and to just get to the car. Well, we made it...whew! The whole night had a wonderful, magickal feel to it. She even noticed that once the circle had been raised, it got warmer inside! Once safely home again, we pulled out the ouija board and had a ball talking to our guardians! |

No, I am not going ot attempt conscious diviniation at all this week. For one thing, it doesn't work all that well for me, really. If I am going to have a glimpse of things to come, it smacks me in the back of the head more than anything, or comes to me in a dream. I think I would be really great at it, if I could only learn some control of it. |

Ghosts - - The day after our wonderful Samhain ritual I went downstairs into my unfinished basement to sweep the floor and just do a general clean up - - when I noticed that there was this orangy/red stuff coming from under the framing on the walls and kinda swooshed towards where we were circling....as it turns out - - it is the chalk that the framers used to mark where to put boards etc....how did it end up being swooshed from under the board to across the room to where our circle was - - I'll leave that to your imagination - - we know what we think.....what a marvelous thing to have happen!! |

I do regular divinations with Tarot. Sometimes they are accurate fortellings, more often they tell me what to expect in a general fashion and it's up to me to figure it out. I love Tarot decks and collect them, not just for use but as art. As far as ghosts--well, on Lughnasadh my friend and I were having out ritual and my cat was sitting on the couch watching. We were sitting on the floor on either side of our altar, when I noticed my kitty staring into the air above the altar. My friend and I didn't see anything, but Malkav (the kitty) obviously did. He also chases invisible beings all over the apartment, but most cats do that. We do have a "ghost" cat, a dark grey or black cat that I've seen and my friend has seen, usually slipping past us when my cat is obviously perched atop something high like the refrigerator or curled up on a chair. We think it is my fiance's totem who likes to join in our rituals. |
