| This Morning, Someone Left A Handmade Sign, Chalk And Felt Pen On... ||Sep 12th. at 3:34:26 pm EDT|
|Ivy Greenwood (Simi Valley, California US) ||Age: 45 - Email |
This morning, someone left a handmade sign, chalk and felt pen on a sheet of drywall, leaning against a power pole on a street close to my house. It says, "God Bless America---In Memory of September 11, 2001." They attacked a felt pen on a showstring to it, so that people could sign it and leave messages. After I dropped my kids off at school (with a wrench of anxiety I've never felt before yesterday morning!) I came back and signed my name, adding my signature to countless others, and as I did so, I found myself able to cry for the first time since I turned on my television yesterday morning. I am still in shock, unable to truly contemplate the number of dead and wounded, afraid to try.
I am aware of things I didn't comprehend until yesterday morning. I am a strong, capable woman. I have always believed myself able to protect my children from anything, up to and including grizzly bears. It hurts and terrifies me to realize that I have no way to defend them from this kind of broad-spectrum malice. There are people in the world who see my children and think not of how beautiful they are but of how killing them might help prove some political point, and there is very little I can do about it. It makes me want to take my babies and hide them from the whole world!
But I cannot do that. If I give in to my deepest fears, if I take my precious family and hide them in some hole, lock them safe in my house and never let them out of my sight---why, I have let the monsters win. I will have let the terrorists terrorize me into submission. And that, I realize, I cannot and will not do. I have a deep aversion to giving people like that what they want. So I send my children off into the world anyway, with a kiss and a whisper of "I love you, " and a prayer for their safety, understanding that maybe none of us will see each other alive again at the end of the day, and feeling my love for them (and their love for me) all the more deeply because of this. We appreciate the joys of life the most when in the presence of death.
I do not believe in violent revenge. It will not bring back even one precious, wasted life, or mend a single shattered body any faster. Violence may well escalate the atrocities even further, and stack the corpses sky-high. Let us avenge our dead not by violence, but by living our lives even more fully. Now that we have been made so cruelly aware of just how fragile our lives really are, let's embrace life even more fervently.
| As I Went To Bed Last Night, A Thought Hit Me - Tonight... ||Sep 12th. at 3:44:03 pm EDT|

As I went to bed last night, a thought hit me - tonight there will be many thousands of beds remaining empty. Even worse, there will be many hundreds, if not thousands, of pets waiting in vain for their owner to come home. How many of these will starve because no one is there to care for them? How many Familiars will be waiting for their loved one to come home, waiting and waiting for that door to open? What will become of them? May the Spirits protect them. Do not forget them when you hold your vigils.
| I Feel A Bit Ill Regarding All Of This.i Am Saddened... ||Sep 12th. at 3:49:09 pm EDT|
|Aisling (Houghton, Michigan US) ||Age: 20 - Email |
I feel a bit ill regarding all of this.
I am saddened by the loss of life, yes. But what scares me right now, is the reaction to this.
In just 12 short hours yesterday, the US went from life as usual, to declaring war.
Last night, Congress called for attacking any country that harbors terrorists. George W. Bush stated that they would make no differentiation from a terrorist, and a country that harbors a terrorist. Those are the two powers necessary for going into war, and they're all for it.
Just a short 12 hours after the whole mess started.
If that doesn't scare you, it should.
For things to go that horribly wrong that quickly, people should be worried.
I'm not trying to detract the attention away from those who have died. I offer a prayer to the Gods that they will be at peace, and hope that any survivors in the rubble do not have to suffer too horribly before they are found, or they pass from this world into the next.
But please don't let the mourning distract you from the fact that the people in power are acting way too harshly.
We went from wanting to find out who did this and bring them to justice to wanting to attack any country who harbors any terrorists. It doesn't matter if they did this attack or not, if they've ever attacked anything for any reason, then the country they live in is now going to be under attack.
I go to college at Michigan Technological University right now, and we have a lot of international students. Some are from the countries that harbor terrorists. Think of how they feel, miles away from home, hearing this hostility from all around them against their home countries, even though we have not yet found a guilty party.
I've talked to friends at my college, and they're all for bombing the hell out of countries that harbor terrorists.
But what they don't realize is that if that happens (and I have a horrible feeling it will) that we'll end up going to war.
Guess who ends up being soldiers?
I beg of you, please, in addition to praying for those affected by the loss of lives, please pray for the people in power to calm down and think this out. We don't need a war. We don't need to bomb countries. We'd be hypocrites if we did, killing innocent people because our innocent people were killed. We need to sit down and think this out rationally. Call off the war. Because war does not determine who is right, but who is left. And there's no way to win a nuclear war. I hope they aren't stupid enough to fire off nuclear weapons.... We don't need this kind of devastation.
At this point, the People in Power are acting like kids who got pushed down on the playground. They're swinging their fists in every direction, hoping to hit the right person, but maybe taking out friends.
For everything to go to hell yesterday within 12 short hours scares me. I hope my hunches turn out to be wrong.

I think that what happened is a sign that we, as a people need to change how we view the world. If something this terrifying can happen in our country then nowhere is safe from these monsters. I pray to the Lord and Lady that these people (and I use that word lightly) are found and punished for this awful attack on innocent lives.

I was astounded by the acts that took place yesterday. Talk of nukes and biological warfare, the ideas seemed so surreal. But yet we are reminded that terrible tragedies happen like this in other countries all the time. We just did not believe that it could happen to our fair country. Staring at the tv coverage of familiar surroundings and saddened faces, we are awakened to the reality that this is happening in our country. That is why we must seek peace for the world and ourselves earnestly. We must join together and pray and raise positive energies or even meditate for the spiritual evolution of ourselves and the world. Let us visualize a world in which only peace and love reign. Let this tragedy and so many before it not be in vain. May we connect with each other and work to heal the world.

I would like to know if any one received prior warnings about the tragedy.Lord Arbon and myself experienced horrifying visions at 11.45 Monday evening, and continue to do so.We urge fellow witches and pagans and other people of the Earth to put aside personal differences and put up circles of protection for the good of all.This is the time to unite and be as one. From what information I have, circles are being put up everywhere. We encourage solitaries and covens to come together in this time of crisis.We have contact with witches in the UK and Canada, they stand by our side.We are planning circles continually, we hope everyone will also.It is time for the Witches of America to Unite!We can defeat the enemy to the Mother. She is ever eternal! Bright Blessings and Hope! Lady Elaine and Lord Arbon.

I'm in as much shock as the rest of of the world. I can hardly fathom the minds of those who caused such a tragedy. I'm with the majority in that I sent out what healing energy I could to the victims and families of victims that I could. I also asked that retribution be swift and merciless to those who are responsible. That may not be the popular view here but I don't care about being nice and finding a peaceful solution. That's a load of sh*t. They attacked and I fully believe in attacking back. I say make them pay the King's Ransom. In kind.

Lord and Lady, bless and protect the victims of Tuesday's attacks. As we work now to heal the wounded, mourn our dead, and rebuild shattered lives, give us the strength to seek not vengence, but understanding and justice.
These are dark days for America and the entire world. Pray for peace.

I think that what has happened is a terrible thing. I do not care for politics or government, but when people are hurt, no matter who's side they are on, it hurts me. I wish that this can be resolved and that it doesn't happen again.

I could write an essay on how the events of Yesterday have made my sould weep and my blood boil with anger, but all that needs to be said is that I offer my deepest condolences to the families left behind, to America and to the World in the light of this Evil crime against all that is Good in the World.
May the Goddess shine her blessings down upon all of us and bring healing to each and every one of our troubled race that this may be - in our hopes and dreams if nothing else - the last time that such horrors are visited upon the innocent by the insane,

|Angela (levittown, Pennsylvania US) ||Age: 33 - Email |
Perhaps I am niave in this day and age, but i can't understand why things like this still happen in our world. How can people carry so much hate around with them. The thoughts of any type of war with all the horrific possibilites today(nuclear, biological etc) is more scary then the attacks yesterday. How does one get over an event like yesterday? How do you heal your soul?
