Question of the Week: 106 - 4/13/2003

What Is Your Inner Animal?

Do you tend to ‘bark’ at people? Howl at the Moon perhaps? Do you have catlike reflexes or can your psychic ‘whiskers’ pick up nearby energy vibrations? Do you have a ‘nest’ or like to ‘burrow’ under the covers? Do you actually even growl sometimes?
What animal traits do you think that you sometimes exhibit? Has anyone ever told you that you remind him/her of some animal?
How much of an animal nature do you think that we humans might retain? Should we attempt to completely conquer or tame the ‘animal’ within? Or do you consider your inner animal to be an ally or alter-ego?
What is the name of your inner animal? If you share space with an actual animal, does the animal (or animals) consider you ‘one of them’? Can you and your animal friends communicate in mysterious ways?

I cannot define what I am as an animal. Though I mostly identify with cats. It must be a past life expirence or a sixth sence that makes me so famillar with them. Cats that wont even let their owners touch them wrap around my legs, and the meanest purr when get close to them If I got the chance to be an animal I would be a leopard, but right now I am not that inside.
Im going back to my corner now. ;) Drewsilla

thought astrologically I am a bull... wonder if that has anything to do with my love/hate relationship to money? LOL
Seriously, I had never thought about it until a friend commented on the way I made my way through the woods, and the wrapped my arms around a section of telephone pole protruding from the ground (had been a foundation post for a cabin porch) and just LIFTED, hoisting it up out of the ground in one motion. And the lightbulb went off in my skull.. with the realization that indeed, it FELT very bearlike. And since I am FROM the North, and OF the North and identify with Earth as well, tend to hybernate in the winter... and considering the way I protected my 5 "cubs"... guess if the hide fits...

| I Believe I Am A Cat | Apr 15th. at 4:34:22 pm EDT |

| Arianna (Clarksville TN) | Age: 24 - Email |

My husband had mentioned that my mannerisms are that of a cat. I can sense vibrations from people houses, cars etc. My movements are that of a cat as well. I turn my head like one when I hear something or the way I move away from water. I refuse to swim in a pool it scares me. I always thought I was a cat in my past life which probably means I did something really bad to be as a cat. That is what I was told though but do not believe it.

A Wolf! Ever since I was little I always felt that I shared a certain kinship with canines and wolves in particular. I was always drawn to the wolves at the zoo. My spirit guide is a wolf, it was he that gave me the name "Moonfire." I believe that everyone has an animal side to their nature and that it should be controlled and respected but not tamed. The wild is part of our nature as well as the animals (real and spirit alike) . I would think that taming something that was not meant to be tamed would only throw our spiritual balance off kilter. Some of my friends have commented on certain actions I have, like lifting my head up to smell the ozone in the air before a storm. Or taking two or three stairs at a time with what they discribe as a "loping gate" Also, when I'm angry I have the tendancy to roll my "r's" and it sounds like I'm growling. And yes, my favorite movie is "The Wolfman" with Lon Chaney, Jr. :)

| The Stealthy And Crafty Little Spider | Apr 15th. at 8:39:46 pm EDT |

| Spinner (Tucson, Arizona) | Age: 20 - Email |

Yeah, that's right. My inner animal is a spider.
I can't always do this, but there are times when I can feel sounds--the vibrations from high or low sounds. I'm not talking about the rumble of bass, although that drives me nuts because I feel it so well!
No one has told me I remind them of any animals, but I have been called sneaky on more than one occasion. I'm pretty good at sneaking up on people without them noticing me. I cling to things and I spin my words like a spider spins her web. When I'm in bed, I tend to wrap the covers completely around me. Also, given a choice, I prefer to be alone. And when I'm startled, I make a really weird clicking sound.
I don't think that we should try to tame our inner animals. I feel that they give us a way to see our strengths and/or weaknesses from a slightly different perspective. I consider my inner animal to be both a trusted ally and a mirror reflecting my personality, both the good and the bad.
My inner animal has two names. One is the name she also gave to me, Spinner, and the other is Lady Spider. I don't think either is her real name.
The only animals I share space with are my fish, and I can't really tell if they consider me one of them. I do know that my fish can tell the difference between my father and me, because everytime I approach the tank, they calm down and all swim to the top. When my father approaches, they swim to the top but get hyper. It's a strange sight.
Although, there have been times when I've seen spiderwebs but no spiders. More than once, the webs have been on things that I needed to pay attention to.

| Past, Present, Future | Apr 15th. at 11:22:39 pm EDT |

| Storm's Feather (Russellville, Arkansas) | Age: 16 - Email |

I had a very unusual dream a week or so ago, and all those little voices in my head took on animal traits. My two oldest were wolf pups, and their future was a wolf head (very unusual, since it wasn't a complete wolf body, but he talked. I assume it was my guardian) But, in all my dreams, i rarely take animal form. My inner animal is *shudders* a human. But not only a human, grown and deaden to reality, but usually a young kid. But it isn't unusual to have animals in my dreams.... I remember one of my earliest dreams of swimming underwater, looking up at the sun through the water, and seeing a school of fish. Being naturally hungry, i swam for the fish. A voice rang out You don't want to do that, you'll get caught! and so i was, in a fisherman's net. I had the same dreams of swimming with that voice for long times before that, and after that it stopped. Sea creature, or Wolf? Human? I'm never sure. But my past, present, and future are represented as whale, human, and eventually, wolf. I think that would make a pretty totem... i was thinking of that this morning, please excuse me while i go draw this.. *Scampers off*

| I Connect With WOLVES | Apr 15th. at 11:24:02 pm EDT |

| Baby (Indiana) | Age: 21 - Email |

I would have to say my inner animal is Wolves and dogs. My mother told me that if you feel connected with something then it is your protecter. Even when I was a toddler I was around my grandfather's dobermans more than my family. I can tell tell when they are sick, happy, or in pain. They understand me better than any human. My dog has helped me through my toughest times better then anyone else. That is why I believe my inner animal is canines in general.

is probably a lion. I'm a leo, there's 2 others in my family, so things sometimes get ugly. But still, I have always liked lions, how they look, how powerful they are. I can be very relaxed, but I can also be very aggressive too.

| Thats Right A.... | Apr 16th. at 12:14:07 pm EDT |

| Dragonfly (Texarkana) | Age: 19 - Email |

Thats right its a dragonfly. No great mystery. I remember when I was younger I was deathly scared of dragonflies, I thought they had a nasty sting or bite. Afterall the dragonflies over here in East Texas get big.
Anyhoo, one day I was down by the pond on my grandparents place, and fell asleep in the sun. Now could be the dragonflies that were near the water but I had the most amazing experience. Light danced across me like ripples of water and I could hear the dragonflies hovering over me. I became extremley relaxed and the light got brighter and it seemed like more dragonflies started appearing. This carried on for what seemed like hours. Then I woke up and there on my knee was this beatiful beast. A dragonfly that had this bright green with shades of blue was sitting on my knee. It seem to look at me and say, "Now were not that bad are we?"
Its was then I feel a connection with these creatures. Since then I crave the warmth of the sunlight and the water. I get all drawn in the winter, but come summer its a whole new world. And when I look back I realize dragonfly has always been there watching me and now I don't run from them, I sit among them.
