Question of the Week: 59 - 9/11/2001 911 America: Talking Through The Terror... Talking Through The Terror... And helping each other cope with the tragedies that struck at the very heart of the United States. The Witches Voice has opened up this forum in order that Pagans may express their thoughts on the terrorist attacks that took place in NYC and DC on September 11th. As the full realization of what happened and the toll numbers begin to come in, Americans have many challenges ahead. What are your thoughts on these incidents? How are you feeling? Feel free to post any magickal workings or other support gatherings planned in your area. There was no reason for this cowardly attack on thousands of innocent individuals. Whoever organized this act is literally a very cowardly and idiotic person. Its a shame that the person that was in charge of this attack had to go so, very, very low. It's one thing to hate a nation, but it's a completly different thing to hijack a few places and kill thousands of individuals who had done nothing wrong. The person in charge of this disgusting attack is a very sad example of human nature indeed. My soceity teacher first broke the news to us. Mrs.Stone (her name) was obviously upset by the news. My fellow classmates were shocked and angered. We're Canadians, but this wasn't just an attack on America - it was an attack on freedom as we know it. The 11th of September 2001, will forever be etched in my mind. My prayers and thoughts are with those recovering and with those who have lost a friend or relative. It certainly isn't easy losing a loved one. Just to let all of the people that have lost someone special to them know, that we're all with you. the Lord & Lady are with you. We are all mourning, this terrible attack. May the Goddess heal the injured and avenge those in charge of this. May she punish them and bring them to universal justice. They can't escape the Goddess and her laws of karma. As from all situations, we can learn something from this. For one thing, life is one hell of a precious gift. We must live everyday of this incarnation to the fullest. We'll only be put in this incarnation once, not again. So live life, don't be afraid or shy. Be nice to your fellow man & woman. I grew up in New Jersey, not far from the devastation. I watched the twin towers be built and visited them. I received a picture from one of my sisters today with the smoking skyline of NYC and finally, the tears came. This violence is so senseless, so brutal. There were living and breathing human beings of all shapes and sizes in those buildings and those planes. What and whose ideas are more important than Life? Engaging in more violence will solve nothing - the forces of karma will be enacted in the perfect time and those who perpetrated this act will pay. And, all of us will bear witness to it. For myself, I call upon my Amazon ancestresses to form the line that cannot be penetrated - their shields are soul mirrors and any malignant force will meet its demise of its own accord. May the peace and beauty of the Goddess reign/rain gently upon all beings on our most lovely planet. So mote it be. ~kathy |

I am so full of rage and hate I can not stand myself right now. I have heard many people calling for revenge and I hate to say I feel the same way. My soul cries out for revenge even as I know that is wrong. More deaths will not justify the lives already lost. But each picture of Palestinians partying and celebrating the death of innocents makes my blood boil. I am by nature pacifist... but I do not feel it at all today. I do not want a full scale world wide war but at the same time I can not see that it could be good to forgive and forget... these terrorists need more than a slap on the hand or they will be back and the next attack could be far worse!! Have you ever had to deal with a bully? They will NEVER stop bullying you until you standup to them and show them you will not take it anymore. And I am glad to see that this is what the American government is doing. I do not sanction revenge but feel that as an American I have the right to DEMAND justice. I wish for a peaceful world but not at the expense of human lives or human rights. That is not peace it is oppression and I for one will not be oppressed. It is past time for the terrorism to stop. It is past time for the racisism to end. It is far past time for turning the other cheek to the schoolyard bully. It is time to stand up and say "We will not be bullied anymore!" I invoke Ma'at for swift justice. |

In this great time of tragedy, I do not want to lose prespective but American citizens should not sit by and do nothing. We should and will do what we can in the immediate and pray that the powers that be will do what is right. I have never been a violent person but at this time I can only ask that the Goddess direct my thoughts toward a peaceful resolution. What will be will be. My prayers (as with all Pagans) goes out to the lives affected by the devistation of this cowardly act, and hopefully, a better tomorrow will arise from this. The death of these Americans should not be in vane. Blessed Be to All. |

I am still horrified by all the accounts of the tragedy in NY, DC and Pittsburgh. So far I have been lucky, there have been no reports of losses within my circle. I know that others have not been as lucky, by thoughts and petitions to the Goddess are with you and a candle is lit. I think it is proper to focus on the rescue attempts and on protection. So many opinions have flown...revenge...hatred...anger...pain...sadness...loss...all these are appropriate. But keep to the Law of the Wicca: Bide ye Wiccan laws ye must, in perfect love and perfect trust Live ye must and let to live, fairly take and fairly give... Soft of eye and light of touch, speak ye little, listen much... Mind the threefold law ye should, three times bad and three times good... These eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill, An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will. Trust in the Mother to guide us...and send your love, healing, comfort, and protection to those in need. It is really such a terrible tragedy that so many lives have been lost, and that their families must endure this enormous loss. It is our hope that these terroists are brought to justice as soon as humanly possible... altho even then it will not bring back those who lost their lives due to their acts. We pray for the families, and ask the Goddesses and Gods to comfort the families and friends of those who are no longer here. Crow has been calling frantically at me for two days now! She is urgent in her calls, demanding that I hear her warning;her calls nearly became screams yesterday! I came inside from sending my son off on the school bus, sat down to finish my coffee and there, Live on T.V., I witnessed the second 727 Jet hit the second of the twin towers in NYC. Numbly, I sat down my cup unsure that I had seen the crash. Surely it couldn't be real and it couldn't happen to us, on American soil! Crow was wrong I thought...I could hear her outside calling loudly. And then I heard that the Pentagon had been attacked. Suddenly, I flashed on the news casts of Vietnam deaths. The lists of the dead soldiers names replayed in my mind as though in front of my eyes. I remembered my fiance. The government had to ship him home in a glass lidded coffin, sealed to protect all who viewed him from any diseases that might have hitchhiked from Vietnam on his body or his clothes. He was nineteen years old and had been a Medic. And his hair was snow white! And I couldn't even touch his sleeve! I begged Creator then to spare us from another war in my lifetime...hoping that my son or your children would never see what war would do. I have to believe that out of this horrible and cruel deed some lesson will be learned by the Governing Powers so that our children won't have to go to bed and be afraid to go to sleep as my son was last night...as I was last night and as many were last night. Today I heard that in Afghanistan people were fighting to get out of their country for fear of our retaliation. And I wondered how many mothers were anxiously clutching babies closely to them and praying for their safety. I know at last that Crow is right...the world has gone crazy and all that we can do is Pray! Creator, in your wisdom I ask that you watch over Humanity and that you intervene for the sake of the children. I ask that you prevent us from destroying one another and that you help us to remember our past mistakes that have cost us so many lives and not taught us any lessons. Creator, bless and watch over the four-legged, the two-legged, the winged and the creepy-crawlie and help us not to destroy that, which you have given us, in trust. Bless and watch over Brother Sky, Mother Earth, Sister Moon, the Four Winds that blow, The Waters that flow, The Stars in the Sky and the Ancients who fly them. Be our Guide, Creator, in your wisdom. I read this famous poem to my literature students this morning. I think it says all that can be said about the human condition. Dover Beach The sea is calm tonight. I have read several posts here condemning our President and saying if he declares war it will be WW 3, and i can understand the concern but we have not declared war. The only context the word "war" has been used in is that this was "an act of war, " and not on our part but on the part of those terrorists who killed thousands of INNOCENTS! Everyone is too quick to jump on the idea that war is a forgone conclusion, please sisters and brothers have faith in our elected officials. Have faith that they will try to prevent this worst case scenario if possible. War is not a situation that any nation goes into lightly and ours will be no different. But ponder this if you will, Some (and i stress only some) Muslims have already declared Jihad on our nation, so if it comes down to war it will not be the fault of U.S. officials, that declaration has already been issued. Once again I pray the Goddess embraces all of Her children touched by the awful events of 9-11-01. |

Merry Meet all... I am sending out my deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who were lost yesterday in the horrible attack on our country. I send my prayers for the safety of the rescue workers and the survivors of this disaster. I am deeply saddened by this, and wondering how people can be so ignorant and self-serving. Even as I watch the news, I am frightened by the actions of other countries upon us, and what our retaliation will be. I am fightened by the continued ignorance of my friends, and the ideas that they still hold, as if the entire middle east is to blame. I try to stop them from assuming, try to get them to be compassionate, and try to get them to see that THIS is exactly why things like this keep happening. What the world needs is love and understanding, or peace will forever elude our grasp. I do think that the parties responsible should be brought to justice, but generating hate towards anyone who might be a supporter of this act or even seemingly one, does not help. All it does is generate mob mentality, and create an even more dangerous situation. I pray for everyone involved here, victims, perpetrators, and those who will be falsely accused for simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time. To all, I say Blessed be, and may the Goddess watch over you always. |
