Question of the Week: 59 - 9/11/2001 911 America: Talking Through The Terror... Talking Through The Terror... And helping each other cope with the tragedies that struck at the very heart of the United States. The Witches Voice has opened up this forum in order that Pagans may express their thoughts on the terrorist attacks that took place in NYC and DC on September 11th. As the full realization of what happened and the toll numbers begin to come in, Americans have many challenges ahead. What are your thoughts on these incidents? How are you feeling? Feel free to post any magickal workings or other support gatherings planned in your area. This weekend I dreamt of walking through an area where the torsos of the dead were stacked in one room, arms and legs in another. In the dream, I walked through these rooms crying. I remember being angry, too, because there was a feeling of media sensationalism. At the time I had the dream, I was too caught up in my own personal worries to realize it for the omen it was. I didn't even figure it out until this afternoon. The shock of it all. Having to still go to work yesterday and be "perky" on the phone (I work as a receptionist), all the while having to listen to macho posturing, hate language and the ignorant, reactionary comments all day sapped me as much as the constant viewing of the news that came later, that I just couldn't pull myself away from. No matter how much I wanted to. As in every time of stress, I turned to divination to help cope with the confusion. Lately I have been working with the Elder Futhark runes. I did a reading on the developing situation. Present, recommended/probable action and likely outcome. The rune I drew for the present was Teiwaz, which I read as charged conflict and preparations for war. The action I drew was Thurisaz, a war fetter...used to turn back the negative action on those who sent it. Also, it can, I believe, indicate a response which is violent and powerful in the extreme. Finally, Ansur in the reversed position, as the likely outcome. This I interpreted as communications disrupted, chaos and loss of freedom. I know that there are some folks out there who are probably more familiar with the rune than I, and if you have a more positive reading on what I drew, please write me and let me know. Also, if anyone has any ideas about using runic magic to help the situation, let me know...I want to help. I was lucky enough to have the person I love most with me last night as I watched the recap of the news. I have friends and family living and working in and around Manhattan. All of them who haven't yet, I pray Kuan Yin they PLEASE call or email soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Last night (9/11) in an emergency-organized Vigil/Circle here in the South San Francisco Bay Area, while burning incense for all the innocent crying souls, we saw *A PLANE* flying overhead, due East - we think it was likely additional rescue/safety personnel from California going to help, as the news media had been reporting. We sent them energy and wished them God/dess speed. God/dess Bless our nation's REAL heroes - those who risk (and often lose) their lives to try to help others. We did divination work last night, as well. The readings indicated our Magick as Pagans is a strong tool at our disposal in dealing with this situation. It is important to use it wisely and well - let's try and keep innocents everywhere from being harmed anymore. Readings also indicate the future is precarious for our children, and their children. OUR CHILDREN ARE THE FUTURE. Lets make sure they have a world in which they can grow up safe!!!! We CAN do something about it, if we are careful and wise. USE YOUR MAGICK!!! Use it well. I understand that anger and hatred are in the forefront of many minds, but we also need the Wisdom to see who and why to be angry against. Pagans themselves know persecution - and should be among the first to realize that it is quite likely many Arab and Islamic Americans also died in this catastrophe, and that their American communites are in no way responsible. Don't take it out on them!!! The perpetrators were betraying their own professed religion when they committed such a hate crime against our nation. They are the lowest form of life imaginable. I wouldn't want to have THEIR Karma on my soul!! I must admit we left THEIR souls OUT of our prayers entirely. Goddess bless those all who died, Goddess support all those who must live without their loved ones, Goddess bless the children, and Goddess Bless us all. |

I hear the souls of those poor people screaming.....I watch the news and can't believe my eyes....it's horrible....yet I can't turn away from it....all I see is the towers collapsing, the people jumping or falling out of the crumbling building, all I can think is thank the Gods everyone I know is safe, justice should be served and the three fold law will get to whomever is responsible for this tragedy...The first thing I thought of when I heard the news is that this was like Pearl Harbor, but worse...more people gone....mostly civilians, innocent people just doing their jobs, mothers, fathers, grandparents, sisters, brothers, sons, daughters, friends, etc. I wish this was all a bad dream. That day I lit three candles....green, white and red.....green for healing, white for protection and red for love and courage....I blessed them and sent their energies to those who needed this and let the candles burn down. I send my condolences to those who have lost a loved one or have one that is missing or injured....may the Lady and Lord take you into their arms to console you. Blessed Be to |

Merry Meet My Family, I know I am NOT going to be able to say anything many of you have already said. We are ALL Hurting for these people. I do want to express my feelings on a few things though. Before our US Government Acts Impulsively and to FAST, I pray that they THINK about what MAY/PROBABLY will happen as a RESULT of its action/s if they do NOT PLAN and ACT in a way so as to NOT have this same mass murder happen to the USA again. I do not want them to attack us again in response to whatever we do to them because of this terrorism to us. I feel strongly that our USA should FIND the Spirochete who PLANNED and Headed this Masacre. And then, ONLY then, HE/SHE will be PUNISHED. We do not need to HURT more innocent people just to "GET-BACK" at the WRONG/ or Innocent people. Do You agree? Brighter Blessings* Raziel |

Please, also: Goddess Bless and protect all the animal companions who will not be able to understand why the people who were the center and beloved family of their lives are not coming home - Please let all those who may have been waiting alone at home, perhaps unknown to other humans, be found and taken care of. "Pets" understand love. They love us. We are their precious family. My usually not-very-demonstrative dog has been snuggling close and licking and licking my hands as I cry and hug my husband, children and dogs.... Our dogs always participate with us in Circle. I was shocked and sickned when i heard. My mum came home and said turn on the television the world trade centre has been attached. Then i saw the pictures. I could not believe it. So many people.. Then i heard about the pentagon and saw the pictures of the second tower being hit. Then i started to worry for a relation working in sears tower. What if that was next?. The shock in Ireland was unbeliveable. Everyone nearly has relations over there. New york is a second home to so many Irish. Why did this happen? who had lost so much hope that this happened..? That evening when the attacts happened in afganistan, i remember the worry. the americans have attached.. they have lost control.. People worried until the news came it wasn't the US. The dead have to be buried and mourned and the lost and hurt need to be comforted. Let there be no more victims and let justice be done. |

I live in downtown Brooklyn, 3 miles from ground zero. I went to the Promenade today. It's in Brooklyn Heights and overlooks the Manhattan skyline. It was so weird to not see the twin towers there. We took pictures on the promenade after our wedding, sunset with the skyline behind us. odd.... I felt like I HAD TO go to the Promenade- like I had to see it with my own eyes, or just plain ol "bear witness" There were about 200 people there at 9 this morning. Everyone was chatting and just the whole "New Yawk" veneer was gone. Common experience does that I guess... I was sitting on a bench and the people around me were all talking and it just seemed so natural for all of us to be chatting- everyone had coffee too. it was like, well, a coffee-klatch. NY is like this once a year: new years eve and people are still curt with each other as they rush to their parties. One of my first thoughts was of the NYC Pagan Pride Event, of which I'm the Entertainment Coordinator- we were supposed to have the event in Battery park, which was literally in the shadow of the WTC. I was there Friday to pick up the permit. Odd... The site was picked because there's an awesome view of the Statue of Liberty. So here are the words forever associated with her: The New Colossus Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame, With conquering limbs astride from land to land; Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand A Mighty woman with a torch, whose flame Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name Mother of Exiles.
