Question of the Week: 106 - 4/13/2003

What Is Your Inner Animal?

Do you tend to ‘bark’ at people? Howl at the Moon perhaps? Do you have catlike reflexes or can your psychic ‘whiskers’ pick up nearby energy vibrations? Do you have a ‘nest’ or like to ‘burrow’ under the covers? Do you actually even growl sometimes?
What animal traits do you think that you sometimes exhibit? Has anyone ever told you that you remind him/her of some animal?
How much of an animal nature do you think that we humans might retain? Should we attempt to completely conquer or tame the ‘animal’ within? Or do you consider your inner animal to be an ally or alter-ego?
What is the name of your inner animal? If you share space with an actual animal, does the animal (or animals) consider you ‘one of them’? Can you and your animal friends communicate in mysterious ways?

ive always had a thing for dragons, so i wish i was one of them. but ive been told that im different depending where i am. in the water ive been told i swim like a mermaid; fast and smooth. on land ive been described as being as quick as a cheetah or horse, (take your pick) . and i love flying sooo much my mates reckon that if i had wings, id never touch the ground again! but hey, if i were to describe my inner animal, id hope to have a bit of everything; wings, tail, strong speedy legs, you get the picture. The thing is i think i have, or at least i dreamt it. you ever had the dreams where your being chased? well, being chased by other people who want to hurt you? well i have, and i dont know how i did it, but somehow i got away over land, through a huge expanse of water, and even over a cliff into the air. but hey, thats dreams for ya!

Wolverine. I had been on a quest to discover my animal guide and this animal kept approaching me in meditation. I kind of have it's qualities. I'm grumpy sometimes, probably more than usual. I like my peace, space, ect. to go undisturbed. Otherwise you'd better have a good reason for bothering me. I believe it is trying to teach me how to balance my emotions and pickiness. So far I've gotten a lot easier to get along with. At least, that's what my husband is saying. It's very hard to live with the wolverine, but there's still many more lessons to be taught.

well, I have always had connections with Earth dwellers. I think my strongest connection is with Ursa. I would say "Bear", but all the bears from the Ursinae subfamily pop in from time to time, depending on who is needed when and what for. It is kinda neat. Both genders and all 7 genus wandering in and out of my life ... makes fo ran interesting ride.
Recently, I have been experiencing Gorilla, which is really odd because I am not maternal in the slightest. But I am a wicked social animal and my family means everything to me. I have a close nit group of female friends with the occasional male meandering by. We help with each others kids and color each others hair and fingernails .. so I guess we are like a troop of the great apes

My family has always loathed cats; I knew very few people who had them while I was growing up, actually. I'd always been cautioned about the secretive nature...the frustrations with general feline aloofness...the wariness of that sedate nature that can all too easily erupt in a fury of claw and teeth... And yet, I've always been drawn to them. These creatures so content to groom themselves and stretch languidly in the rays of Sun...the ease with which they will confidently sidle up to even the most disinterested stranger and make their presence known with the most gentle--yet forceful--brush against the leg...I AM HERE. YOU WILL PAY ATTENTION...until I'm ready to be gone--and then just as suddenly I will leave. Playful one minute...casually self-assured the next...watching your every movement (even when you believe me to be asleep) ...eager for attention...just as eager to be left alone...stretched out in front of Sun...staring wistfully into the eyes of Moon...and just when you least expect it... I'll be right back in your lap.

I have always lived inland either in Ohio or arkansas where i have lived most my life I have always wanted to be near the ocean then one day i went. i was 5 years old and was watching out into the ocean and i saw these fish jumping beside a boat and later i found out they were dolphins. i dont know what it is about them, but they have always called to me. I dream everynight about the ocean and belonging to it. I also seem to find my favorite thing to do is swim. I know it sounds kind of corny but it doesnt to me and thats what matters.

When I was in my 20's I had this dream. I was running in the woods. There was deep snow all around me and birch trees as far as i could see.I heard a noise. I saw a rabbit. I give chase. As I'm chasing the rabbit I look behind me and I see a tail I think what the--. I keep chasing and I finally catch the rabbit. In my dream I kill it and tear its belly open with my teeth, at this time I realize that I'm a wolf. I wake up with the taste of blood in my mouth. This dream comes to me twice. When I was 31 I saw myself as a duck. I'm swimming in the lake, all of a sudden I'm moving very fast over the water. I'm no longer in the lake but above it. As I going higher and higher I look under me and I see these two little orange webbed feet.!!!! I look to my right and see a wing.!!!! I look down I see the lake far, far below me. I think 'oh, great I'm a duck, and I'm afraid of hieghts!

I've discovered, over the years, a very strong affinity with cats of all types. Your average household cat, a tiger in the forest on TV, or the fantastical creatures with wings or six limbs I read about in fantasy and sci-fi books.
I yawn like a cat (curling the tongue, snapping jaws shut at the last moment) ; I stretch like a cat (arms first, then one leg, then the other) ; I certainly act like a cat. I sleep too much, get rather bitchy when woken suddenly, and resolve conflicts the same way -- strike fast, hard, and then run like hell.
Animal nature is certainly retained by humans. We sympathize with different ones, with many possible reasons: from a personal liking to the creature, perhaps a past life or past life encounter, or the spirit of the creature simply allowing the affinity.
I don't communicate directly with the cats I know. I've had some interesting experiences simply staring into their eyes, and the dreams I have with them almost always have meaning. I may choose names for them, but ultimately they have their own names, and anything I call them is only a human nickname.

... a cat! as you see by the name i have chosen to post with here, as on many other boards and what not. :) i am definitly a cat inside. i have a shillouhete of a cat tattooed on my back as well as paw prints on my thigh. i yawn, strech, loll around in the sun, and have the personality of a cat. i used to have one when i was younger, but unfortunaltely it was put down by my parents. a traumatic experience, i might add. so yea, i certainly express the characteristics of our feline friends. as is popular with others as well, i noticed. i'd have to guess and say these fellow feliners are women, as well, as we tend to act like cats sometimes. :) which is not a bad thing at all... bright blessings! :)

Well, to be perfectly honest, I feel like a whole bunch of animals live in my heart and soul. Sometimes I feel big and loving, very respectful to my ancestors, most definitely like an Elephant. Other times I feel small and quiet, but definitely powerful, most like an ant (I say powerful because they are powerful, in great numbers) . But a lot of the time I feel like a Crow. There's one that lives here by my house and when I heard it call out, it's like it's calling to me to come and fly with it. I have dreams where I'm flying, and sometimes I feel like I'm with someone else, a bird, but I can never see who. But the one animal I feel most drawn to? That's easy - my goldfish, Cujo. He's an albino goldfish, and he's cool. He and I click really well and I feel drawn to him. The other two animals I am drawn to (but not as much as Cujo) are dachshunds (Don't Laugh!) and Labrador Retrievers. I like to think that my two dogs are like my power animals and they have made me feel like they are within me. But they rule my heart and soul, all these animals.

I have found that the cat in all its myraid shapes and forms calls to me the most. I am so much like a cat. Graceful, yet lazy. Timid, yet oh-so fierce when I my pride is hurt. I love to sleep and just stretch out my body. I love it when I am "petted" and loved on. Then I have my moments of ultimate bitchiness when I just want the world to leave me be until I am ready to bask in it for myself. So yes, I am a cat at heart.

all my life i have been drawn to the eagle, the graceful flight, alert watch, independence and freedom. my soul cries with every eagle that vanishes - may it be due to humans or natural causes - for the eagle to represents pride, honor, honesty and integrity.
