Question of the Week: 15 - 11/13/2000

What are YOU Thankful For?

As we get together with family and friends at this time of the year (and at every time of the year), which people do you want to thank for making a meaningful difference in your life? (Why not surprise someone and thank him/her/them publicly right now and right here?) What lessons that came your way turned out to be blessings in disguise? How do you demonstrate your gratitude to the Earth and/or to your Gods/Ancestors for their continuing guidance and blessings?

I Am Thankful For This Green Earth And The Wild And Gentle... Nov 24th. at 11:48:14 am EST

Peg Aloi (Medford, Massachusetts US) Age: 37

I am thankful for this green earth and the wild and gentle beauty of nature, which inspires me each and every moment I am priviliged to walk upon it.

I am thankful to all my friends and chosen family who have walked beside me on the pagan path, for the love and lessons they have imparted to me. I am thankful to my birth family who raised me to have respect for the living earth and its creatures, and who taught me to love the outdoors.

I am thankful I have been born into a land of wealth and plenty and privilege, and that there are those who work to see that those born into less fortunate circumstances receive the help they need.

I am thankful for the kindness and generosity of others. I am thankful for the selfless acts of people who inspire me to be better than I am.

I am thankful to the many pagans and witches and Children of Earth who are trying their best to heal our planet and fight for justice for the peoples and creatures of the world.

I am thankful to my dear friends, Wren and Fritz, and the incredible work they do each day.

I am thankful to my pagan friends and family who give of themselves and make the world a more beautiful place to be: all of my friends of Babylon (Thoth, Deb, Sean, Toby, Lakshmi, Arachne, Robert, Jim, Adam, Berta, Elizabeth, all of you!), Don and Daniella, the wonderful folks at Brushwood, the Order of Ganymede and Coven Cthonioi, my UK brothers and sisters, my musical friends at the MudCat, my friends working to free the West Memphis Three, and those I wish I could talk with more often than I do.

I am thankful to the authors whose magical words have inspired me on my path, including Ronald Hutton, Leo Martello, Patricia Crowther, Sybil Leek, Janet and Stewart Farrar and Gavin Bone, Doreen Valiente, Dion Fortune, Margot Adler, Aleister Crowley, Charles Godfrey Leland, Stewart Gardner, William Butler Yeats, Walt Whitman, William Wordsworth, William Shakespeare, the list goes on!!!

I am thankful to my feline companions and familiars for their unconditional love and magical ways of wisdom.

I am thankful each day for the talents and abiltities I have been gifted with and grateful for every moment I live on the earth.

I Am Thankful For: Being Alive To Greet Each Day. Being Able... Nov 24th. at 12:28:08 pm EST

Irish Mouse (Shelton, Washington US) Age: 56 - Email

I am thankful for:
being alive to greet each day.
being able to look out the window and see the trees.
Epona leading me to find Charlie our donkey.
the chance to gather with my family, including my son who has recovered from cancer and my brother who has severe Downs syndrome.
all of my two and four footed friends.
being in a country where our voices can be heard.
the earth beneath my feet.
the sky above my head.
the list is endless.
Blessed Be.

The Things That Obviously Come Into My Mind First, Are Of Course... Nov 24th. at 2:33:15 pm EST

Tarah (Katherine Magus) (St. Paul, Minnesota US) Age: 24 - Email

The things that obviously come into my mind first, are of course, my husband, who has helped me along the path of life and the path that I have currently chosen with my religion of Wicca. And also my sweet (yet spoiled) familiars, Miss Kitty and Pandora, who have also cheered me in difficult as well as happy times. I also would like to thank my chat buddies at Yahoo abortion debate chat, especially SpiritKitty and Leescheffie who I first told my story, and who in more ways than one, saved my life and sanity after the termination of a pregnancy, and a difficult, abusive relationship. Also, they are the ones to thank that I have been on the Path of the Ancient Ones for almost 3 years now. They were the only ones to reach out to me and share a bit of themselves with me, who genuinely were interested in my healing, and not to further their agenda, and for that, I will be forever thankful.

That particular incident with the abusive ex and the pregnancy turned out to be a mixed blessing in disguise. It made me realize who my true friends were. It reunited me with the person that I was always meant to be with, and that the path of less resistance is not always what it seems.

And, finally, to the Lord and Lady, who are not far away untouchable entities, but friends and guidance hand and hand with me through the roads of life.

Blessed Be,

Emilie (Wyoming, Minnesota US) Age: 20

I'm thankful for my friends who have seen me through the difficult times that have been pressed upon especially hard this year. Also for my beloved who stands by my side through thick and thin, and for my family who doesn't, but who teach me important lessons through neglecting me enough to force me to grow and learn lessons on my own. I m also thankful for the opportunity to be here to help people as much as I can. And last of all, I am thankful for Loony Toons and the opportunity to laugh. :-)

Sandra Kay Beavers (Pulaski, Virginia US) Age: 39 - Email

I am Thankful for my Wiccan beliefs, my Wiccan sisters &Bros. I am Thankful for the guidance and sheltering I have had from the Goddess&God. I realize they have sheltered and watched my back all my life. I am Thankful for my strength, which has pulled me out of an abusive marriage, a very supportive, sweet second chance with a better half. I realize that my strength, my knowledge, my street smarts have all been sent to me to help me survive and learn from my experiences. I appreciate and am Thankful for people and things everyday of the year. I know priorities are not monetary wealth, material things, or fancy titles. Priorities are our loved ones, our family, our friends, our Earth, our enviroment, our treatment and attitude towards family, friends and people we are around everyday, if you are blessed with extra then you pass it on , should someone need a helping hand. I rememeber something I read in my Wiccan studies not long ago. Do not measure your wealth by how much you have, but how much you can give/or help. I am Thankful for all of you, who willingly, & unsacrificingly help people like me study and learn, not just to gain something for yourselves. Thank You. Sandy
