Question of the Week: 59 - 9/11/2001 911 America: Talking Through The Terror... Talking Through The Terror... And helping each other cope with the tragedies that struck at the very heart of the United States. The Witches Voice has opened up this forum in order that Pagans may express their thoughts on the terrorist attacks that took place in NYC and DC on September 11th. As the full realization of what happened and the toll numbers begin to come in, Americans have many challenges ahead. What are your thoughts on these incidents? How are you feeling? Feel free to post any magickal workings or other support gatherings planned in your area. Blessings to you. The purpose of this writing is to urge you to do what you can to remain calm and out of the maw of fear. Turn off the TV as soon as you begin to feel angry or afraid, unless you can use what you are learning to help others and be effective. If you can help those who are injured, help. Use your voice to maintain order and help others stay calm. If you can, create a picture of peace and healing, feel it in your body/mind and and project it widely. Perhaps this affirmation will be helpful: Today, although I am aware of great suffering and fear raging like wildfire around me, I remain calm, knowing that I am safe and that my safety creates a haven for others. Yesterday, we were leaving NYC to get on the plane for Boston. As we drove out of the city my sister turned and said, "The New York skyline..." 24 hours later, it's gone. This morning I arrived at school and everything seemed ok. Then my professor walks in and says, "I trust you've heard what happened." "No" A lot of us didn't know. Someone in the back listened to his radio during the entire class. At one point, he told us that the buildings had collapsed completely. They evacuated the school because it is very close to Logan. On the T, people were freaking out and already coming up with theories on who was to blame. Word of advice......don't. Terrorism is an act of terror. It is meant to cause fear and chaos. People place blame on a certain group without even thinking and it leads to violence. It leads to terror for a particular group and the cycle begins again. I will not be afraid. I will not look for someone to blame. I will not seek revenge but will instead give compassion, love and prayers to those who were affected. I refuse to play their game. |

We all have our opinions about the government and its treatment of other countries , its policies towards its own people and whether or not we approve of Bush and his party. This however, I think should take a backseat for the present to the deep tragedy and suffering of the people of NY and their families and friends. My prayers, energy and deep sympathy go out to all of them as well as the terribly misguided individuals who created this horror. I ask that all of the pagan community join to send our love to surround any who need it. May the healing energy of Brigid and the great wisdom of Cerridwen aid all the victims of this sad day. What can I possibly say to express the magnitude of this disaster? Suffice it to say my spells are cast, my bindings done(this is a first for me), but my prayers will continue for all those effected by this horrendous act of cowardice. My heart is breaking for all those who have lost loved ones. How many children will wait for their parents to come home and never see them again? Lord and Lady please comfort all those effected in the terror of this day. Comfort the passed ones on their journey to you, help them along the way. Blessed Be! |

I can't even begin to wrap my mind around the events of today, and I worry about the possible ramifications and effects this will have. I feel that our world has changed forever, and pray that the violence will end soon. May the Goddess bless and keep every one of Her children, worldwide. |

Politicians keep saying "we must return to normal as quickly as possible, " and yes - life goes on and we are letting "them" win if we shut our country down in fear and chaos. But NO, there are times when life SHOULDN'T just up and move on, and we need to stop and FEEL this and let it be the overwhelming thing that it is, because if we don't face this we can't learn from it as a people. If we feel it deeply enough this time maybe we won't ever have to feel it again...no matter what happens from here on out we will never be the same as a nation. Let us pray that we choose to grow and adapt and learn from this instead of becoming reactionary isolationists. I keep feeling the vortex of severed souls swirling around lost, and when I can I try to send them love and light and help them find their way. As you work today, tonight, over the next several days, please try to help the dead as well as the living to find peace. By the way - heard from the Arch Druid for Washington DC Grove, and all members are accounted for and fine. |

Having watched these events unfolding on the news today I am shocked at the level of devastation I have witnessed. My heart goes out to all those involved in today's events and to those who have had to learn that a loved one will not be coming home tonight. This shows me how important it is to let people that we love know how we feel. Those involved in this terrible tradegy are in my thoughts and prayers and I hope that positive, healing energies that are being sent out into the world will help to stop this chain of violence against innocent people. In my 15 years as a Police Officer, I came to the conclusion that Homo Sapiensas a species is a stupid, unitelligent one. Sure there are exceptions, but on the whole we are a sad lot. Today's activities are a good example. Sadly even here on this board, several people made statements like "we feel sad for the people, but let's look at the reasons..." and then they went on to talk about how the US acts like the world police and how that offends other countries. People murder is murder, whether or not you have a beef with someone or not. Killing innocent civilians in a country to show how bad that country is is not very intelligent. I am a Trekkie. I have always hoped we will be able to get to a time of unity as portrayed in Star Trek. Unfortunately, I am also a realist. I am afraid that, at the rate we are going, any intelligent life "out there" will probably react like the aliens in "Independence Day" and get out the galactic can of RAID on us. Peace (hopefully) |
