Question of the Week: 59 - 9/11/2001 911 America: Talking Through The Terror... Talking Through The Terror... And helping each other cope with the tragedies that struck at the very heart of the United States. The Witches Voice has opened up this forum in order that Pagans may express their thoughts on the terrorist attacks that took place in NYC and DC on September 11th. As the full realization of what happened and the toll numbers begin to come in, Americans have many challenges ahead. What are your thoughts on these incidents? How are you feeling? Feel free to post any magickal workings or other support gatherings planned in your area. Greetings all my sisters & brothers... The world has just become alot smaller...I walked to work today, and the blank, shocked looks on the faces of people just shook me to the core. I predict (no cards needed here.) that things are about to get VERY FREAKY in the near future. Right now we are in shock...tomorrow it will be anger... KEEP YOUR HEADS! Cast your circles, light your candles, say your prayers... But remember our Rule. Harm None. Offer a hand to help, an ear to be bent, or a shoulder to cry on. I myself have a friend that is a waitress in the (Noth) Tower, we still have no word from her... I hope it was too early for her to be at work. Today I will say a prayer for those that have passed on, I will cast a protection spell, and ask the Goddess to put out the fires of anger... I am still just a bit in shock... and very scared for the future... but for now I am off to the Blood Bank to donate. I ask that you all do the same. Until later. Jamie |

In the face of this horrific attack, many Pagans are circulating announcements for magical/spiritual workings for peace, calm, protection, and in some cases, retribution. I offer the simple suggestion that our first efforts should be towards saving those lives that can still be saved. Now and continuously for the next few days, let us focus our efforts on: putting out the fires now burning, protecting those who are trapped and/or injured, protecting the thousands of police, fire fighters, EMTs, and rescue workers on the scene, and sending those rescuers strength and increased perception and intuition. There will be time for justice and retribution after the rescue efforts are over. For now, let us use our rage and sorrow to protect the innocent. |

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers; We have wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less; we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences but less time; we have more degrees, but less sense; more knowledge but less judgement; more experts yet more problems; more medicine, but less welless. We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive to fast, get too angry stay up too late, get too tired, read too little, watch too much TV and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life, we've added years to life, but not life to years. We've done larger things, not better things. We've cleaned the air but polluted our sould. We've conquered the atom, but not our predjudice. We write more but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. e builf computers to hold more information yet communicate less. These are the times of fast food and slow digestion, big men with small character. Remember to say a kind word to someone who looks to you in awe, because that little person soom will grow up and leave your side. Remember to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and doesn't cost a cent. Remember to say I love you to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you. Rememver to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again. Give time to love, time to speak, give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind. |

I first heard about todays attacks as I walked out of my dorm room this morning to take a shower. I am frightened that these attacks will provoke massive anti-arabic sentiment within the US. I am frightened that the focus of our presidents first remarks on this tradgedy regarded vengence. On each of those planes were people who were willing to give their lives for a cause, that we must assume, they thought was worth that price. Anyone with this mentality must have been filled with tremendous anger. I hope that same anger does not take, or damage, any more lives. I hope that both those who were prepared to die, and those whose lives were cut short, unexpectedly, find peace as they deal with the choices that they made, or the choices that were made for them. I hope this peace extends to the families of the victims as well, and I hope strength will be with the rescue workers at the sites of the attacks, and with the medical staff who are dealing with an incredible number of injuries. I hope that this tradgedy will bring us together rather then rip us apart. Blessed be, Lance |

It appears I am in the center of the new 'Bermuda Triangle'. I live in New Jersey...praying for all my friends and neighbors in DC, NYC and also those who died in the crash in Pittsburg. I feel trapped in the middle of a nightmare brought about by hatred and intolerance on the grandest scale possible. I will not give in to it. Pray...please...stay calm...help others...do what you can to come together and not fall apart. I will light my candle for all who have been touched by this tragedy. |

Dear Pagan Community I am not a witch, I am a Buddhist(Vajrayana-Nyingma-pa school), but that is of no importance. What is, is that we must remember at all times that WHO commited these horrific acts is not as important as those affected by them. Please continue to practice for those injured, those dead, and those left to greive. They need all the love and support we can send them. I feel it is crucial that people of all faiths come together in this very trying time and find the things that unite all religions- faith, love, hope, and compassion. In a spiritual community as light and beautiful as The Old Religion(s), I feel it is very important to help as your beliefs and practices guide you to. Cast healing spells, and think the most positive thoughts you can, esp. for those who have died. They need our help the most so that they do not remain separate from Enlightenment(The Goddess and God), and return to more karmic suffering, but instead return in all the beauty and glory of liberated boddhisattvas(I think that most Witches are boddhisattvas who just use a different name). Today Buddhists around the world are saying mantras of peace and compassion, I have been saying: OM MANI PADME HUM (Om mani PŽmŽ hung) and: OM AMI DEWA HRIH all day long, and hope you will be compelled to do what you need to do in order to help in any way you can! I can not even begin to fathom the pure hatred that must have consumed the persons who made this days events possible. I pray for all those families, especially the children, and hope that they will not be filled with that same hate that destoyed their loved ones. |

After watching CNN today, my first reaction as being an ex SSgt in the Air Force was to retaliate in any way, but my thoughts almost immediately turned to wanting to send out feelings of hope and healing to the innocent people who were involved in this tragedy. before my involvement in the learnings of our ways, this would have never had been so overwhelming to me. The trouble is, I am still a student to the ways and am looking for a way to send these feelings. If anyone could help me I would appreciate it very much. I really feel this is a time we all need to come together with our energies and our love. Blessed Be to all. |
