Question of the Week: 106 - 4/13/2003

What Is Your Inner Animal?

Do you tend to ‘bark’ at people? Howl at the Moon perhaps? Do you have catlike reflexes or can your psychic ‘whiskers’ pick up nearby energy vibrations? Do you have a ‘nest’ or like to ‘burrow’ under the covers? Do you actually even growl sometimes?
What animal traits do you think that you sometimes exhibit? Has anyone ever told you that you remind him/her of some animal?
How much of an animal nature do you think that we humans might retain? Should we attempt to completely conquer or tame the ‘animal’ within? Or do you consider your inner animal to be an ally or alter-ego?
What is the name of your inner animal? If you share space with an actual animal, does the animal (or animals) consider you ‘one of them’? Can you and your animal friends communicate in mysterious ways?

I don't really see the point of the question. We're all animals, we aren't something seperate, so an inner animal? Does a dog have the soul of another creature? I think that we definetly keep that "animal" nature. There's really no point in taming that creature within us, whatever you call it, since we are born as we should be and so should remain that way. However, if I did have to pick, I would certainly pick a snake. People describe me as mysterious and cunning, typical snake characteristics. And a snake represents wisdom, so I would of course like to think this creature is in common with me. I do sometimes have other "animal" instincts, though. When I become very defensive of someone, I tend to growl low or hiss. Strange maternal instict. My eyes are always flickering back and forth, never focusing. I'd rather see everything around me as the smaller creatures must do to survive. I do have an animal, a small terrier named Silky. Silky and I definetly have a connection. He knows when I'm sad and comforts me, and I know just when to care for him. Sometimes I think he speaks to me. I'll be taking care of two birds from now on, so perhaps there will be a connection there too.

Canines in general have been my favorites and my familiars. But wolves, especially the Timberwolves are my favorites. There's just something about them that makes my pulse quicken at the sound of their howl. They are wonderfully magikal animals.

I think my inner animal would definately be a Siberian tiger. I am a very aggressive and controlling person most of the time. Basically, I like to "rule my own jungle." Tigers are extraordinarily beautiful creatures and some of my closest friends have often told me that I reminded them of one.

Throughout previous lives lived before our human form was achieved, Many animal lives would have been expeirienced. So to narrow it down to one, only one out of how many? must have been expeirienced to become human is folly. I believe as a human we tend to lean tward the animals to comfort ourselves. The obsession with a particular animals' vibrations and tendancies constantly are then aquired to mask the truth. To further become that animal is to be further from our human form. Why seek that? In certain instances, such as ritual in\envokations, cloaking yourself with these animalistic covers may assist in the success of the goal, but to become that animal is to take away from our huuman form. Dont get me wrong--I am all for understanding all instincts and all parts of intuition learned, but also I think it is important to keep in mind that the turn to human is a big one, and one that you should seek to master by facing the truth about what being human is. We are seperated by our animal counterparts by our ability of distinctive choice, and because we can control our instinct and surpass them. This makes our responsibility greater, and that Goddess given responsibility should not be shirked, or ignored by focusing yourself into an animal once again. (this is just my opinion)

That was a joke, by the way ... In case not everyone on this site knows it, Canada isn't cold all year and we DO get sunlight. But I digress. I think I'm something mean, mostly. ;) Mean, and nice at the same time? Nice meaning how I take responsibility and care for my friends, family and lover. I can't think of anything at the moment that says "I love my babies, but I'll take your head off if you come near me." If anyone has any ideas, let me know?

My animal is spider. I've always had an attraction to them, and like myself, felt they were misunderstood a lot.

For better or worse I'm a quintessential Leo. I've come to accept that I react to situations with all the Classic traits of a Leo (this isn't always a good thing) , but that's me. The idea of the inner animal spirit and animal guides goes back to the dawn of humankind, and transverses all cultures. Personnaly, I believe we are closer to the rest of the animal kingdom (both spiritually, and emoitionally) than we sometimes care to admitt to. The differances are more superficial than real.
I share my dwelling place with two cats and two dogs and I often caring on conversations with them.
From my observations of animal behavior, in my own experience and watching nature shows on TV, I've come to the conclusion that most animals exhibit a level of intelligence that transcends human reasoning. Humans have developed what I call a species arrogance that makes us believe that we are somehow superior to rest of the natural world. Too bad for us.

I think my inner animal is definatly a cat, because when someone throws something at me, I don't think, but everything seems to slow down one or two maybe even three notches and I catch it without thinking. I also seem to get along with all the cats around, its almost like we are all best friends. I can also see in the dark, and that is the part that confuses me, because I will be sitting in the dark, and so far everybody would ask me if I could see what I was reading or not, and I of course said yes because it's true. I also seem to be Nocturnal. Well if you have any information, just email me at tsunamifreak@aol.com, I will be happy to talk with others about there opinion on my or his/her inner animal.

My inner animal must be a fox. I'm an excellent problem-solver when I want to be. ;) I try and live in the simple honesty that foxes do; living my truth utterly and completely.
