Question of the Week: 59 - 9/11/2001 911 America: Talking Through The Terror... Talking Through The Terror... And helping each other cope with the tragedies that struck at the very heart of the United States. The Witches Voice has opened up this forum in order that Pagans may express their thoughts on the terrorist attacks that took place in NYC and DC on September 11th. As the full realization of what happened and the toll numbers begin to come in, Americans have many challenges ahead. What are your thoughts on these incidents? How are you feeling? Feel free to post any magickal workings or other support gatherings planned in your area. Dear Pagan Community I am not a witch, I am a Buddhist(Vajrayana-Nyingma-pa school), but that is of no importance. What is, is that we must remember at all times that WHO commited these horrific acts is not as important as those affected by them. Please continue to practice for those injured, those dead, and those left to greive. They need all the love and support we can send them. I feel it is crucial that people of all faiths come together in this very trying time and find the things that unite all religions- faith, love, hope, and compassion. In a spiritual community as light and beautiful as The Old Religion(s), I feel it is very important to help as your beliefs and practices guide you to. Cast healing spells, and think the most positive thoughts you can, esp. for those who have died. They need our help the most so that they do not remain separate from Enlightenment(The Goddess and God), and return to more karmic suffering, but instead return in all the beauty and glory of liberated boddhisattvas(I think that most Witches are boddhisattvas who just use a different name). Today Buddhists around the world are saying mantras of peace and compassion, I have been saying: OM MANI PADME HUM (Om mani PŽmŽ hung) and: OM AMI DEWA HRIH all day long, and hope you will be compelled to do what you need to do in order to help in any way you can! I can not even begin to fathom the pure hatred that must have consumed the persons who made this days events possible. I pray for all those families, especially the children, and hope that they will not be filled with that same hate that destoyed their loved ones. |

After watching CNN today, my first reaction as being an ex SSgt in the Air Force was to retaliate in any way, but my thoughts almost immediately turned to wanting to send out feelings of hope and healing to the innocent people who were involved in this tragedy. before my involvement in the learnings of our ways, this would have never had been so overwhelming to me. The trouble is, I am still a student to the ways and am looking for a way to send these feelings. If anyone could help me I would appreciate it very much. I really feel this is a time we all need to come together with our energies and our love. Blessed Be to all. |

I cannot express my pain, nor the pain of others... But I can offer this: A PRAYER FOR THE ABUSED ONES Ground and centre. Cast circle in the usual fashion and light elemental candles at each quarter. If you are so inclined, add a card/object representative of each Goddess you are about to call - Athene, Pele, Tiamat, Demeter. When you are ready, you may begin. [Lift arms toward the East] Oh Wise One, Athene, grey-eyed warrior, stand with me. Let your shield protect those I gather today; Let your spear defend those I gather today; Let your cool wisdom sink into those I gather today; Let your owls return memory, in small painless morsels, to those I gather today. [Lift arms toward the South] Oh Raging One, Pele, spouting volcano, stand with me today. Let your rage light the self-worth of those I gather today. Let your lava flow over the damage of those I gather today. Let your regenerating qualities renew those I gather today. Let your heat fill the souls of those I gather today. For I gather the wounded ones. I gather those whose parents were no parents to them. I gather those whose childhood was betrayed by adults. I gather those whose memories were stolen, whose lives were wrenched out of course. I gather those whose scars are soul-deep; those who had first to be adults before ever they were allowed to be children. I gather those who fear retribution for acts for which they should rather seek retribution. I gather those who were made objects; those over whose heads were poured the ashes of shame, unjustly. I gather those whose peers never understood why they were different, to be mocked, to be injured: only that they were so to be. I gather all these, to stand in a circle of protection. I gather all these, to stand in a circle of healing. I gather all these, to stand in a circle of justice. I gather all these, to stand in a circle of renewal. May they and we all regain virginity: self-possession, skin- ownership. May they and we all regain justice: self-esteem, proper blame. May they and we all regain time: memories in due place, knives sheathed. May they and we all regain health: growth and progress and inspiration. And I bind this will in a spiral: that it repeat, increasing health, so many times as is wanted and needed. For, you Goddesses, we are under siege; our childhood is under siege; our children are under siege. And we must needs heal ourselves before we can be a proper protection. [Take a few moments contemplating your words to this point. Cry if you need to, shout, scream. Anything. When you feel ready to end the ritual, start to dismiss the Goddesses.] Oh Wise One, Athene, thank you. I take your shield for my own; your spear for my own defence. Oh Raging One, Pele, thank you. I feel no rage or fear about the recent tragic events, only sadness and disgust for both those who have caused such suffering and for those who will most likely pursue "justice" for these sins. Violence of the sort exhibited by these terrorist attacks is ultimatly futile to promoting positive change and will only hinder those who perpetrate it from delivering whatever message they are trying to send. Those who will, of course, seek to prosecute the terrorists responsible rather than attempting to understand their motives are, in reality, only seeking vengeance, which is another form of violence. |

I know of several pagans across the US and the world, myself included, that will be lighting white candles at midnight tonite for healing, cleansing, and peace. This is Shanna Melton I am the Highpriestess of the Wolf and Creascent Moon coven. We are all in shock and maybe a little numb at what we have seen today. The main question in our minds is WHY? The answer to that is ignorance. People wish to remain ignorant of anything new and wish to only remain in their little stasis bubbles of "No Change" We will be praying for those who lost their lives in this horrendous attack and we will be praying for those who committed these horrible acts. Their fate and their karma will be very heavy. I hope that the God and Goddess can help us heal these wounds. I know that at times like these, I am grateful our Gods are not vengeful ones. If They were They would blow up the whole world in disgust at our acts of barbarism toward one another. Keep lighting those candles and send your energy to the Gods. We HAVE to survive this tragedy!!! I am confident in the ability of the human spirit to overcome, but today I and all my coven are very heartsick. Please pray for the injured and for the dead and for their survivors. Pray for the search and rescue teams, the nurses and doctors, firefighters, and emergency personnel. There is a stream of energy flowing to them; add what you can spare. And when the dust has settled, please pray with all your heart for PEACE. Those who stand with the Goddess and for Peace have work ahead of us in the near future. I thank the Goddess my brother's flight from Boston to L.A. was scheduled for next week and not today. What words can i use to say how i feel? The shock at knowing someone can have such pure unbound hatred that they can brutally torture otghers.. not just those who were in the buildings and planes, but those with family and friends there, even those who don't - how can someone hate so much that they'll torture the world for it? My thoughts, wishes and heart go out to all those affected.. however that may be. And i pray for those who died. Remember.. The Threefold Law. The people who did this will get what they deserve. Someday, Somehow, they will pay for the pain they have caused bu tirturing the world. |
