Question of the Week: 98 - 2/10/2003

Would You Live In A Haunted House?

You have found the perfect house. But it’s haunted. Doors open and close. Lights flip on and off. Footsteps are heard in the hallway, furniture is rearranged and ghostly figures are spotted wandering the grounds.
Would you move in?
Would you be comfortable living with ghosts and/or paranormal activities? Or would you send the spirits an eviction notice?
What are your thoughts on paranormal manifestations?

I would live in a haunted hause. I live in one right now, actually. I can sense those who decide to "haunt." I find it quite peaceful to sit there and communicate with them.
If the person was harmful, then I would have a problem with it. I would then send them an "eviction notice" I wouldn't want anyone to hurt the people that I love.

When my wife and I first got together we lived in the little house next door to her parents and the tv came on in the middle of the night sun catchers would fly off the door and strange noises wer heard. THe big brick house that her parents live in has three different spirits in it sometimes you hear people talking softly upstairs the banker who had the house built back around early 1900's had his wife placed in a glass coffin in the round room downstairs for a long period of time so she still is there her grandmothers spirit and an unknown man is also present at times

I would love to live in a haunted house. I believe I would find it very stimulating. Of course, I would probably scare the spirits more so than they would scare me!

I would not be afraid to live in a 'haunted house'. I truly believe in the paranormal. At times I have felt spirits in different situations. My mother has just recently been told that in my grandparents house (her parents, now deceased for 20 years) that the tenents have seen and felt the shadowee figures of a man and woman. They are friendly and never bother anyone but just kind of wonder around..My grandparents lived in that home for almost 50 years and I can see them not wanting to let it go..I wish I could experience their presence but I do not live close to the home.
Another instance, my sister was in her just deceased FIL house and all of a sudden the kitchen light started flickering on and off. I believe the switch was off at the time..They were speaking of him at the time. She also heard heavy footsteps out her bedroom window one morning (she lived far from town on land he had owned) She had a feeling it was him and she quickly looked out her window and no one was there..but she knew it was him..
My mother also told me of a time right after her father died. she was in her kitchen (she took care of him in his last days) after he died and she was at her sink, she felt someone touch her shoulder and she turned around a saw a dark, smokee figure that she felt was her father. She seems to be sensitive to the spirits of others, as her mother was, as my sister and youngest daughter are, and as I seem to be.
I believe there are those who just find it hard to leave where they have been for so long..In my grandparents case..they both died of natural causes My sisters FIL died a tragic death on his farm..
May all your encounters be friendly.... BB Silver

Yes i would be terribly scared, but that would override my curiosity. I think would really like to so that i could overcome my fear.
I think that is why my mother visits my sister and not me, cos before she passed away, she said i am going to come back and scare the Sh!& out of you kids, and pleaded with her to not do it , because she would probably scare me to my grave.
I have always been curious to see if i could handle it, though.
Blessed be Toni

If I had found a house I wanted, nothing could stop me from moving in, especially not a couple of spirits. I would be uncomfortable with it at first, but as long as I'm with my fiancee I wouldn't be worried. After all, most manifestations aren't annoying, let alone dangerous. My opinion is that spirits should be treated well, since they are just as worthy of respected as we are, they have only not been able to move on yet. They do exist, but one should be careful to not readily believe in every haunting case reported. A simple storm can cause more trouble than any spirit could.

This predominantly Pagan household already does live in a haunted house. There are 4 of us here and we have all encountered our unseen housemate on several occasions. Doors slamming in empty rooms, audible footsteps coming down the stairs, lights and other electrical appliances turning on/off, and the rare, brief glimpse of someone wandering through the house are almost commonplace here. My fiancee was a little "freaked" at first, but has warmed up to our friend. As for me, when it makes its presence known, I just choose to say "hello, how are you". It's actually quite fascinating, and not all that scary. As far as paranormal manifestations are concerned, obviously I am a believer. My sister has had a few visits from our late mother, some quite vivid and memorable. I had a very powerful experience a few years ago in a theater in New Jersey - while I was onstage, no less. As Hamlet said: "There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, Than are dream't of in our Philosophy."

Ghosts and aliens -- can't abide either one! They've always scared the pants off me, even as a child, and I'd run screaming like a cartoon character -- all the way to the horizon -- if I ever encountered one.

my best friend is a paranormal investigator. i'm not joking, he gets paid to take pictures of ghosts. i've gone with him a few times, and it's really interesting. my mother lived in a haunted house when she was younger. my family and a good part of my friend have a long history of having to deal with ghosts and the paranormal. i have tolerance for "weird" things, and i'm actually pretty used to them. would i live in a haunted house? i already have. nothing really big, i was the only one to see the ghosts. i was probably about seven or eight, i can't quite remember. anyway, some unusual stuff happened, i saw things that other people didn't. i wouldn't mind living in a haunted house again. where i live now is boring, at least my old house was interesting!
