Question of the Week: 110 - 5/14/2003

What’s Your Favorite Element?

Do have a special affinity for one of the elements of Earth, Air, Water or Fire? Do you find one of these easier to work with than the others? Do ritual objects or other items associated with this element just seem to find their way to you?
On the flip side, do any of these elements – or what they represent – give you trouble? (For example: If you are drawn to the Fire principle, do you struggle with the emotional or spiritual aspects related to Water?) How do you balance out the elements within yourself? If you are ‘missing’ an element (or more than one) in your astrological chart (few or no Air, Water, Earth or Fire signs), do you consciously make an effort to enhance or strengthen the influence of that missing element(s) in some way?
What symbols, tools, animals, compass direction, emotions or spiritual guidance do you associate with the elements of Earth, Air, Water and Fire? And what does Spirit represent or mean to you?

I love the Earth elements.A walk in the woods, a cool breeze in the air, the smell of a campfire and the sound of a babbling stream or brook near by. That is my Avelon! My Summerlands! Have a Great SummerSolstice! Blessed Be

I have always considered myself more of a water person, for the elements. Although, I generally correspond with water, but my actual element is air.

I have a strong affinity to both spirit and fire. Interesting this is because my sun-sign is pisces, my rising-sign is cancer and my moon-sign is scorpio - all water signs! (And yes, I am very emotional!) I live in the spirit - although I know I have things to do here on Earth. I wish to return to the spirit - not to sound depressed or depressing here. I wish to return to my astral family - both before and after me. As for fire, I am just entranced by it. I trust it, though I know that it can kill and get out of control. I just feel it is a friend - sort of like - that's the best word I can think of right now - "friend."

My favorite element would have to be Air, but i never really thought of it as Air but more so as Wind. It comes naturally to me, i remeber even as a little girl conjuring up wind. And water, water has always felt like a warm safe place for me to be in. I love water and I'm a Pisces. But Wind is the easiest foer me to control, summon, and work wit. Some of my most powerful magick is done when i sing. (is that wierd or can someone else do that too?) Anyways i guess that's about it. cool question.

| Water Is My Favorite Element | May 20th. at 3:07:21 pm EDT |

| Annick Lynn Rodriguez (New York) | Age: 35 - Email |

I have always loved the water since I was a child. I have also had an intense fear of the water , since I nearly drowned as a child. But I still love the sensation of water, I love being near lakes and oceans.I know there is something magical about it and also that it is a force that should be respected, not feared. One day I will learn to swim so that I can feel the power of water touch me. I know I will get over my fear one day and when I do I don't think anyone will be able to get me out of whatever body of water I am in.

As a born pyro, I'd have to say fire. I'm infamous for always having something burning. From candles and incense to something on the stove. :) When there are bonfires I'm always catching a stick or something on fire just to watch it burn. People find this odd...because I'm a pisces, a water sign. =P
White I've had a tendency to learn for my love for the flame, I try to keep myself balanced by taking baths, going swimming, or fishing. I try to garden (key word: try) . As the only computer/techno literate person in my house, I'm in constant exposure to electricity (some say it's a form of air) . But I still love my pyromania.

As a born water I must say water is my favorite element. Just think about it, we are all made up of a certain amount of water. Water gives life and water takes life.

Okay, I am a major pyromaniac. I am always playing with fire or trying to catch something on fire. However, my affinity would have to be with the earth. I have always loved the feel of rolling down a grassy hill or taking a break and just lying down in a field, away from the world. I am always trying to protect and conserve the natural lands in my area. So I would side with earth every time.

| That's A Compelling Question... | May 20th. at 8:07:50 pm EDT |

My astrological element is fire, which is good. I've always been drawn to it, especially as a kid. However, I'd have to say EARTH is my favorite element at present. Lately I've found that when things get crazy or out of control, if I go sit or lay in the grass, or just start digging in my "garden", it literally brings me back down to earth - grounds me. Also, any of my magic always involves earth in some way, usually done outside - on the ground. Thanks for sharing!

I'd have to say fire is my favorate element. Not only because I was born a fire, but because I've always loved the way fire looks. I'd always play with fire as a child and sometimes I still find myself staring into the flame. It burns so bright and high that you can't help but stare at the flickering flame.
