Question of the Week: 110 - 5/14/2003

What’s Your Favorite Element?

Do have a special affinity for one of the elements of Earth, Air, Water or Fire? Do you find one of these easier to work with than the others? Do ritual objects or other items associated with this element just seem to find their way to you?
On the flip side, do any of these elements – or what they represent – give you trouble? (For example: If you are drawn to the Fire principle, do you struggle with the emotional or spiritual aspects related to Water?) How do you balance out the elements within yourself? If you are ‘missing’ an element (or more than one) in your astrological chart (few or no Air, Water, Earth or Fire signs), do you consciously make an effort to enhance or strengthen the influence of that missing element(s) in some way?
What symbols, tools, animals, compass direction, emotions or spiritual guidance do you associate with the elements of Earth, Air, Water and Fire? And what does Spirit represent or mean to you?

As a Taurus, I would suppose that it should be Earth; but it's actually Fire. I work well with all four; but have been in 5 tornadoes, almost drowned, and almost buried alive in a landslide. Fire has always been trustworthy, and my fire spells do act quite a bit faster than most, so............:) Besides, as a Taurus, it's kind of appropriate that I work well with them all. We just want one thing, THE BEST OF EVERYTHING!!!

I like a little of each. I love the grace and speed one has in Water. I love the touch and connection with Earth. I feel that the wind can speak volumes and fire teaches us valuable lessons. I am earth but I love each one like their all a part of me.

My element is Fire and i am very much bothered by water. I dont understand, all of my wiccan sisters and all of my teachers have told me i originated from water but yet that is what i fear most. I do wish i could come over my fear of the deep sea but it seems much calmer near fire and i luv wathcing it burn and wither

By far my favorite element is water! The pleasure of being submerged in water is outstanding. Besides that after loving the water, I found out that my given name at birth means "Sea Friend", And my chosen Pagan name has the same meaning. I have rearranged the meaning of my Pagan name to mean "friend of the watery Moon" Thats my two cents, farewell and Blessed be!!!

Astrologically I'm Fire but through experience I found out that I work well with all of them. Now I can't imagine being drawn to just one.

I actually have two favorite elements, resulting from my arrival into this incarnation and what was going on astrologically at that moment :)
As an Aquarius, I am highly attracted to the element of Air and its mental and creative aspects. But with being born four days after the cusp of Capricorn (Capricorn is the Rising Sign in my natal chart) , I also have a great attraction to Earth and its grounding and centering abilities. My collections of (FOUND) feathers and rocks and minerals reflect my attractions.
I really have to work more with Water and Fire, for I have sensed imbalances in certain parts of my life. I am constantly working on bringing balance into my life.
Associations:
Air--East--Yellow--Feather Fire--South--Red--Flame Water--West--Blue--Goblet of Water Earth--North-Green--Bowl of Earth or Plate of Salt
What does Spirit mean to me? It is the all-encompassing energy of the Universe that everyone, thing, and energy were created from. And when I think of Spirit, I usually visualize it as the deepest blackness of the universe.

This is my first time here so I shall keep my response brief, but the question was just too interesting. I am most comfortable with water, air, and fire, having a good deal of trouble with earth, but not plants oddly enough. My strongest element though is spirit, I am not quite sure how to explain what it is to me, it simply is. Light, but also color.

Gotta say I love them both. I love the way water feels on me. And I love the way fire changes color and the flame dances when I look into it. I love making candle flames dance. Dawn

i dont really connect very strongly with any one element. I love the feel of water, and working with it, and yet i am also intranced by flames, and burning stuff, and the stength of it is so powerful! and then again the wind is one of the first elements i ever used, and twined around my fingers..... i dont have a very strong connection with earth, but lieing in the grass on a warm afternoon, or feeling golden light soak through the soles of your feet...priceless. so i guess i flow through all the elements. i am a scorpio...........
blessed be, nimaway

I would have to say my favorite element is Earth. It corresponds astrologically to my sun sign. I also have a specal affinity for growing things. I am happiest when there is soil under my fingernails and beautiful things growing all around me.

I'd have to say fire is my favorate element. Not only because I was born a fire, but because I've always loved the way fire looks. I'd always play with fire as a child and sometimes I still find myself staring into the flame. It burns so bright and high that you can't help but stare at the flickering flame.

| That's A Compelling Question... | May 20th. at 8:07:50 pm EDT |

My astrological element is fire, which is good. I've always been drawn to it, especially as a kid. However, I'd have to say EARTH is my favorite element at present. Lately I've found that when things get crazy or out of control, if I go sit or lay in the grass, or just start digging in my "garden", it literally brings me back down to earth - grounds me. Also, any of my magic always involves earth in some way, usually done outside - on the ground. Thanks for sharing!
