Question of the Week: 98 - 2/10/2003 Would You Live In A Haunted House? You have found the perfect house. But it’s haunted. Doors open and close. Lights flip on and off. Footsteps are heard in the hallway, furniture is rearranged and ghostly figures are spotted wandering the grounds. Would you move in? Would you be comfortable living with ghosts and/or paranormal activities? Or would you send the spirits an eviction notice? What are your thoughts on paranormal manifestations? |

I have lived in "haunted" houses nearly all my life. There was plenty of negative entities, but always more than enough of what I called "Guardians" to chase them off. Things being hidden, warm pockets, cold pockets, foot steps, torn screens mending themselves (I've seen this) , back rubs, people sitting on your lap...I got used to all of these things, they don't even phase me anymore. Spirit cats seemed to be the norm in any house, and there was always spirit children and past loved ones keeping my own kids company. I think any house you go to, even if you just had it built, will be "haunted" at one point or another by passing travelers or those trapped on the land. Yes I would, and still do, live in one. Unless they're negative, after a while you just get used to the fact that you're never alone, and life goes on. |

Since I was the age of 4 I have lived in houses, apartments, or dorm rooms where paranormal activity has been present. My present house was haunted (the entity [a real nasty] lived, for reason or reasons unknown, in the guest bathroom) until about ten years ago when a friend of mine and I got rid of it and put up a warding field around the house to keep such entities out. However, that does not mean that the field keeps all entities out. We still have some "friendlies" that live with my wife and I and like to hide things from us. Would I choose to live in a haunted house, no? It would make life much simpler. Do I have a choice in the matter? Doesn't seem so. Richard Thorson |

Spirits, I believe, are just images of those who once were. I do not think that they can harm you, (except for poltergeists) , and in this case, i think that poltergeists are a built up of negative energy that has just gradually increased. It would be interesting to live in a house that is haunted, however, only for a short while. When I was young, i lived in a small house in the country, and alot of weird stuff went on. However, it always felt warm, especially in the room that i slept in. I never felt threatened by anything. If i went back there now, i would probably try and release the spirit. I believe that they are crying for help. They are not entertainment, and should be delt with in the proper mannor. I have once been to Yorkshire on a two week break, and my family and I went on a ghost walk. We came to a little cluster of houses, where young children have been seen, screaming and caling for help. Before the guide even told us about the children, i felt a negative presence. About 100 years or so ago, that area had been a orphanage, and the man who run it used to treat them badly. He used to get money from the council to look after them, however when the children died, the money supply would be cut off. Being a selfish man, he put the bodies underneath the floorboards, so he would still get the money. I could go further, but there isnt much point. Do you think it is fair, that little children, whether ghosts or not, should be left in pain, or hurt? Anyway back to the question, I would like to go back to the house I used to live in, to atleast feel the presence of a spirit. Furniture would be moved, and my mother always said she could see figures in the corner of her eye... i dont want to continue now, theres no point! so, yes and no. |

i wouldn't necessarily call our house "haunted", as the word to me means to be bothered by something negative...but there is definetely something hanging around my house-- this house is 108, so i am not terribly surprised..."George", as i call him, turns televisions, radios and the like on and off, opens doors, hides things, moves things, he knocks on my door late at night a lot. he seems to hang around my room more than anywhere else. i made a comment to a friend of mine a few weeks ago about wanting george to hang about more, and that night, footsteps in the uninhabited upstars, clocks changing randomly, the kitchen radio turning on...he likes to change my radio stations. teribbly irritating sometimes, but you've gotta love him. i don't know what i'd do if George wasn't here. |

OH yes, I would love to live in a haunted house. If they became extremely annoying, or dangerous I would do something about it. I would somehow make peace with them, or calm them down. And if they got too out of hand, I would preform some kind of banishing to keep them from harming anything. I am actually used to such occurences, as it seems like spirits like to follow me around. lol |

I have been interested in the paranormal since I was very young. I've had experiences with "the other side" as recently as two years ago. As long as they were benevolent, I would have no problem sharing my space with them, although I would try to help them cross over... BB GypsyStorm |

I think it would be awesome to live in a haunted house, as long as the spirits agreed to share their domain peacefully. I think it would be a very unique learning experience! |

Yes, I would, In fact, I have done. At first, I thought I was seeing things, as I had recently undergone major surgery and was still on medication. I kept seeing a small, white cat - six-legged - wandering through the rooms of the house. Since I didn't feel bad, and it didn't do anything harmful, I decided to live with it; especially since I like cats and can't have any due to allergy. I didn't say anything to my friends or family, since I wasn't quite certain it was really there. But, one by one, friends began to remark on my white cat, and wasn't I still horribly allergic to cats, and what was wrong with that cat? For as long as I lived in that little house I enjoyed the companionship of my little white kitty. |

When we first moved into our house we encountered many ghosts.Some of which the houses history did not record.Like the mysterious "Anna" (our nickname for her) who wonders our hallway after the hours always appears to be looking for something. Ofcourse it was frightening at first getting used to the orbs in the corner of our eyes, objects shaking, rapping noises, ghostly figures, even people coming out of my sisters closet.I have even made contact with a little boy numerous times through astral travel.They seem pretty harmless. But if you really think about it they really can do you no harm.They might even be trying to communicate with you.I can only imagine they would...being a lonesome wonderer for what seems eternity not knowing wether you are alive or dead. Yes, I would choose to live with paranormal activity.I don't think we should fear hauntings. ...everyone deserves a life long companion.Alive or dead. |

I absolutely would live in a haunted house. If anything, I think I would be so fascinated that I would turn down a better deal elsewhere in favor of having paranormal activity in my home. In fact, I had the opportunity to live in such a house about 13 years ago. It was an old farm house in Illinois. My mother had rented it and we had no clue that there were any spirits. But by the third night there was no doubt. Nothing scary happened, some pictures would re-arrange themselves, beds would jump around when you were trying to go to sleep. Me and my siblings absolutely loved that one, but we had to ask "george" (our nick name for the spirit) to stop because it was really scaring my mom. But nothing really scary happened. Nothing like those scary movies that are always coming out. We moved out after about six months, much to my dismay. I have never been back, but I hope george found some more kids to play with. |

Living with spirts would be wonderful. Being able to commuicate with the other world and past lifes would be most interesting to me because of the information and knowlegde what can be past from generation to generation. Preserving the way of the past, persent and future for not only myself but my children. I don't want them to be afraid of the unseen or other powers of what was once used in every day purposes. I think that living in a haunted house would be interesting. of course it would be a little frightening at first but I think that I could used to it. Then I could have my friends come over and I could scare the life out of them, and I would never feel alone when nobody was home with me. Just as long as the ghosts don't try to hurt anybody I would be perfectly fine. |
