Question of the Week: 90 - 12/22/2002

Which Christmas Ghost Would You Like To Be?

You know the story. In A Christmas Carol, three ghosts visit Scrooge: The Ghost of Christmas Past, The Ghost of Christmas Present and the Ghost of Christmas Future. Which Ghost would you like to be?
And who would you like to haunt? Boo!

I like the Past and the Present... Being the Ghost of the Past would be cool because you can show a person why they are who they are... and being the Ghost of the Present shows them where they stand and can possibly change... Besides the Ghost of the Present is female and I think I would fit that one best!

| How About All Three?! | Dec 25th. at 7:04:42 pm EST |

Ok, so considering being all three Christmas spirits is perhaps a little greedy, but as a Goddess-friend, I'm hanging with the three-fold aspect. :) Here's why...
Spirit of the Past: To see the good and the not-so-good that has shaped the world, and myself, with the knowledge of how it has 'turned out' already. I love history too, so it would be fun to 'be there' at the signing of the Magna Carta or the storming of the Bastille!
Spirit of the Present: To see if we've learned any of the lessons that we've been sent, or if they're still works in progress. To see the changes in myself from the person of the past. It would also be a chance to observe myself as I am - how others see me.
Spirit of the Future: To see if those same 'works in progress' have progressed! To see if there's any new lessons sent, so I can perhaps do some 'advance study' to help the lesson along. (Knowledge is a wonderous thing - learn all you can - you may one day find that knowing the phone number of a good Funeral Director is a blessing.) And, naturally, to see how my decisions and choices have shaped the rest of my life. I doubt I'd change them, as they are part of the here and now, or the past, but it would be interesting to see their long-term ripples. Oh, and to scare my possibly/maybe great-great-grandchildren with a visit from their "Mad Granny Annwyn" :D
Happy Celebrations (be it Christmas, Solstice, or whichever!) to you all, may 2003 bring blessings to you and yours!

| Why Are We Talking About Christmas, We Are Pagan!! | Dec 25th. at 2:49:04 pm EST |

| scott (Boston) | Age: 30 - Email |

I would be the ghost of the future, and make Christmas go away, as I am a Pagan, and why am I (we) even debating about a Christmas ghost right now anyhow?? How about, a Pagan ghost? Anyhow, how about we talk about something Pagan....Christmas a beautiful for those who celebrate it, but it is not really, at least hypothetically (sp? I am tired), our holiday....but I digress...

I think as far as who I would be... I'd like to be Christmas past... that seems to be the only static time anyway.
But I'd much rather be visited by the ghost of Christmas future! Boy do I need some guidance or something... I think I'd haunt myself.

| Just Like Home Movies.... | Dec 25th. at 10:20:07 am EST |

I think I'd be the ghost of Christmas Past, I like seeing from a different point of view, things that already happened. We're watching home movies today at my house, and even though it's the funniest thing I've ever seen, it's also sweet and reminds me alot of people I miss and things that I wish could be the same, but for some reason, aren't.
Actually, I'd be a completely new and different ghost. I'd be the ghost of Good presents, I'd take you back to when your parent bought you socks and underwear and make you understand that it's not really how flashy or expensive your gift is, it's the thought and the feelings behind the gift and make you understand, if you didn't already, how much your family truly loved you.
Brightest Blessings and Happy Holidays Everyone!! Bevin
Each day following will bring greater power to him, For within tge great mother's womb lies the divine child, The bringer of hope and promise for the year to come!

| Christmas Present Or Future... Tough One... | Dec 25th. at 1:55:41 am EST |

| Lunataria (Pennsylvania) | Age: 23 - Email |

If there's one thing I've learned, you can't change the past. All you really can do is review it, and learn from your mistakes... moving on. I'm torn between Christmas Present, as you can pretty much live in the now... or Christmas Future, as you can look ahead. But, if I were to be nailed down to just one... I would say, Christmas Future. Why? The future is always changing, and it looks like it can be one wild ride!

I'd love to be the ghost of xmas past. I have a thing for history. Plus when you look back at your life and peoples life they truly begin to understand who they are and how they came to be that way. It's definitely a learning experience for both parties.

I would like to be the Ghost of Christmas Future, I would like to Haunt My Ex-Wife just for the fun of it. Haunting could be loads of fun , better than going to Disneyland !

I think that the present is something we have now and the future is something we will have. Old Scrooge had forgotten his past. The ghost of Christmas past was the most buetiful of the three. This ghost gets to look at others past not just her own. I would haunt as many people as I could in one night.

I would be Christmas present, because you get unwrapped more often. :-) But seriously, Christmas present is the closest thing to what I feel the true celebration of the spirit is -- the Baccus attitude, joie de vivre. The celebration of life and loved ones is so much more appealing than the remorse of Christmas Past, or the threat of Christmas Future.
