Question of the Week: 98 - 2/10/2003

Would You Live In A Haunted House?

You have found the perfect house. But it’s haunted. Doors open and close. Lights flip on and off. Footsteps are heard in the hallway, furniture is rearranged and ghostly figures are spotted wandering the grounds.
Would you move in?
Would you be comfortable living with ghosts and/or paranormal activities? Or would you send the spirits an eviction notice?
What are your thoughts on paranormal manifestations?

If the spirit didn't mind me living in it's house, of course, why not! But, out of respect, is it didn't want me there, I wouldn't stay.Simple as that, no more no less.Of course, I may try to compromise, but, we're talking about a spirit here, it should be left in peace.

I lived in a haunted house many years ago at the beach. At first objects would either disappear or move around. Although intrigued i wasn't alarmed by it. Eventually things excellerated to the point where my "ghost" would lock the door if I went outside to throw out the trash, which was annoying but livable and then began to actually "throw" furniture at me. Large pieces of furniture would be hurled across the room, not just tipped over. It became rather dangerous after a while. "He" would also screem my ex-boyfriends name out loud. What the connection was I never figured out. My friends "believed" me because they loved me but basically thought I was loosing my marbles. I thought so myself for a while. He'd also sit on my chest at night after I was in bed, keeping me from getting out of bed and I'd wake up with bruises of fingerprints on my arms, legs and chest. Finally, my neighbor was in my apartment during a blackout when he screemed. You never saw a women book it up the stairs as fast as she did. She wanted to know how I could continue to live there with that "thing" in the house. My philosophy was I wasn't going to be chased out of my own home. That night he was very active, turning the water in the sinks on and off and making all kinds of noises. He would never manifest for me though, although I asked repeatedly. Just before I moved he ended up saving all of our lives. A fire broke out in the house next to mine (at the beach they're a breath away from each other) . Well, no one was aware of the fire as it was smoldering in a mattress. Suddenly my bed began to slam against the wall waking me and my upstairs neighbors. When we investigated we smelled the smoke from next door and called the fire department. If "he" hadn't done that the fire would have been well on its way before anyone knew what was happening. Why "he" saved us is a mystery. He either didn't want harm to come to him or he was saving "his" home and that was the only way he could do it. Since I've moved (over 10 years) the house has been boarded up and never rented again.

| Haunted Houses? No Thanks. | Feb 13th. at 11:00:35 pm EST |

Personally, I would never want to live in a haunted house. When I was much younger (more so than I am now) , I thought ghosts and spirts were the most awesome thing in the entire world. I was also ignorant to the fact that not all ghosts and spirits are good natured. Then when I was 12, I was visiting a friends house with another friend. We were told by this friend that her house was haunted. Of course, we did not believe her, so she decided to prove it to us. She took us down into her basement, where she said most of the activity occured. As soon as we got down there, all 3 of us became very cold. One of my friends started screaming, claming she saw someone, and the other one ran with her out the door. There I was, all by myself, in the basement. As I was about to leave, something grabbed me, and would not let me go. I struggled for 5 minutes, then finally got free. I ran upstairs, only to find my friend putting ice on a huge red handprint, engraved into her arm.To this day, we still talk about it, and have no idea what caused the handprint. As you can see, I'm still frightened by that "encounter, " so I would probably never be able to live peacefully with a ghost in my house.

I beleive that since I am a culturally unique enough gentleman to discover and promote the interracially and multicultural based Confederate communities in the Brazilian cities of Americana and Santa Barbara D 'Oeste, in the state of Sao Paulo, Brasil and their websites are: www.scv.org/camp1653 and www.mablanentertainment.com (818) -881-6976 (located in Tarzana, California) , then I am bold enough to live in a haunted house, and possibly invite these lonely spirits to become a part of my family, because I would at least have a logical understanding of their lonely suffering.

I would live in a haunted house, spirits havnet ever bothered me, i can see, sense, feel, and talk to them all the time so they dont bother me that often. WHen they have and caused problems ive been able to banish them with no problem at all, havnet needed spells or warding or anything like that, so it wouldnt bother me to live in one.

Personally, I wouldn't want to live with any sort of invisible entity that could be watching me at any time without me knowing about it. I would always feel uncomfortable when doing anything of a private and/or sexual nature.

| To Live With Ghosts. | Feb 13th. at 9:08:30 pm EST |

The question is not an easy one to anwser. When i was growing up i had a ghost in the house. The ghost was more into pranks that anything. He would take things and hide them. It was not hard to live with him. When i got older i joined the military, i rented a house that had a ghost it was not a good time. She would turn on lights, slam doors & change the time on all of the clocks, that sucked. Because of the trouble she caused i had to brake my lease pay a lot of money i did not have. So i guess that if i had to do it again i would try to find out what actions the ghost was into. I like to live with ghosts it has been a good learning experence, It helped me learn to listen to them and under stand what they were saying and to try and help them pass over.

| Spirits Everywhere Anyway | Feb 13th. at 8:09:41 pm EST |

I have lived in haunted houses before and would definately do it again. My family lived in a house for six years that was haunted by the spirit of a child. Besides, spirits are everywhere. Just because you can't see them or sense them doesn't mean they'renot there. You can actually learn a lot if you take the time to notice.
