Question of the Week: 59 - 9/11/2001 911 America: Talking Through The Terror... Talking Through The Terror... And helping each other cope with the tragedies that struck at the very heart of the United States. The Witches Voice has opened up this forum in order that Pagans may express their thoughts on the terrorist attacks that took place in NYC and DC on September 11th. As the full realization of what happened and the toll numbers begin to come in, Americans have many challenges ahead. What are your thoughts on these incidents? How are you feeling? Feel free to post any magickal workings or other support gatherings planned in your area. First to all those who have suffered loss my soul weeps. derive whatever comfort you can from knowing that people of all faiths aroud are praying in their own manner for you and those you have lost. My heart has been sickened twice in the past three days. First, by the cowardly attack upon my nation and its people. Second, by those of my fellow Americans who are taking their anger out on inosent fellow citizens who happen to be of Aribic decent or practice the Muslim faith. The outporing of hate aginst those who are as loyal as I is deplorable. We must stand and protect those who are worngly singed out. both with our workings and phisicaly when necessary. Here in England, as I'm sure it was throughout the world, we felt an utter sense of disbelieve and pure shock at the horrific events on Tuesday. I, and the small coven to which I belong offer our heartfelt sympathies not only to the victims and their families but to America as a whole. I can only hope that any magical workings that I, and all witches worldwide, perform will help the worlds authorities to find the people who did this and bring them to justice. I ask witches everywhere to do whatever is in your power to help all the people caught in this terrible tragedy. If we all focus our energies towards the same goals I am sure we can ensure that nothing like this EVER happens again. Let us all work together to make this world safer and above all more peaceful. May the Goddess watch over all those who have passed on and may she protect and safeguard all those survivors and families who have been affected by this sickening act of terrorism. To give credit where credit is due: the poem that appears on the Statue of Liberty base, "The New Colossus, " was written by Emma Lazarus. We in Jerusalem are walking around in shock and grief and great pain. Many of us are from NYC; many of us have family and friends there. I remember a school trip to the WTC as a child, back when only one of the towers was completed. I can't believe they're gone, that so many people were killed so cruelly. Next week is the Jewish New Year, when we pray for a good year and for Divine compassion. I ask myself: how shall I pray for Divine compassion now? The words will stick in my heart. It me the crazy nores RavenHair. Still mad as hell and have lots of planes for the murders of our kin. But first i like to say thank you to all the brothers and sister for sending your energys last nigth to our wounded and to our dead. And my Odin honer all of you, me and my clan have put flame to candle at 9:00PM last nigth. And this well go on for nine nigths we well make this sheld so strong they well sing song about it. We already called on Odin from the North, Heimdal from the East, Thor from the South, and Freya from the West We called on tyr for Justice and hela for Hagalaz. Tonigth we well call on Verdandi for the power of ice to freez them and their weapons. Well call apone Mimer for wisdom then it will be lokis time to shine. We will trick our enemys eyes and mind and have them kill them selvs and each other before they well lay a nother hand on our kin again. I would have to agree with GriffenWolf...in my short life, I have always abhorred war. Something in me now is broken. I cannot accept this senseless and vain proclamation that THOUSANDS OF LIVES are worth less than one soulless man's hatred for something he envies. There is debate over whether these terrorists are brave for dying for something they believe in, or cowards for using terroristic tactics to say it. I think they are INSANE, and there is no bravery in that. You want to see bravery, look at any public servant, an army soldier, an airforce pilot, a marine, a firefighter, a police officer. I abhor war. But I am ready to join the armed forces to defend my country, my right to believe and practice as I do, and my right to do as I will when I harm none. There are no arguments terrorists can present that justify this attack, regardless of nationality or beliefs. I will accept a dent in my karma to protect my family and all people who desire nothing more than to live in peace. I won't advocate war or fighting or violence, but I will defend peace. |

Across the western Ocean, Upon a distant shore, I hear its wings unfold and know, The Eagle sleeps no more. The castle gate has fallen, With an awful roar, I fear for my children now, As the Eagle sleeps no more. Once I heard the Eagle's cry, When evil knocked its door, A storm of wings descended then, And that evil was no more. So now I pray for patience, Because it chills me to the core, That the calls for vengeance, Might outweigh the rule of law. For revenge exacts a terrible price, One we've paid before, But many yet may have to pay, As the Eagle goes to war. And in its fury, it shall not know, The evil, from the poor, And punish all within its view, With its terrible, swift sword. So all good folk of ancient way, Whom this evil do abhor, Pray for justice, and restraint, Let the Eagle sleep some more. ----------------------- I know that I wrote a message earlier on in this board, but good things will come of all this. For myself, I have met a new friend through all this and although this is all very distressing for some people, we will all get through it eventually. Here in England, nothing has been set up to enable us to help in giving our blood to the victims, and I know, deep in my heart that most Britons would give their left arm to help in a crisis such as this. Please, everyone keep a level head, look to the God and Goddess for help, and everyone will be okay. I know that it is distressing, but at the end of the day, this tragic event was created by someone who has no respect for the feelings of others. Nature wasn't involved this time, this is no earthquake. Shayde....I sympathize with you completely. I am glad to hear someone speak the truth about this incidient. It was horrific and that will never change but your right it seems no one wants to accept responsibiliy for their part in creating this racial hatred. I am so angry this happened aswell. I am angry that we are still thinking about killing each other in this day and age. The Muslims, Protestants, Afgans ect...are as human as we are. Your right they have families, pay taxes live their lives and not all of them share a totalitarian view like I find most the U.S. dose. Mabey that last statement was a generalization and if it is im sorry but I cant support a country of people who take out their weapons and shoot at will then recuse to accept their responsibility and part in the continuing wars. I just hope this opens peoples eyes and really alows them to face the facts about racial wars and the truth of the pain and devistation it causes on both parts. I am from England. We share your sense of sadness and loss, as well as outrage at such a despicable act. As well as the many Americans, it has been estimated that at least 100 UK citizens are missing, who worked in the trade centre or were tourists. Our Prime Minister has offered full support to the USA. On behalf of myself and many others in the Pagan community here we offer ours to. Personally I am of the Northern Tradition. I shall be asking my Gods and Goddesses to ease the paths of those many lost spirits. I have thought hard and long, and shall also be doing a magickal working to bring the organisers of this act (but specificaly not the innocent people they live amongst) to have no peace until they are caught and dealt with. As a non PC Odinist I hope that it is death. I am not used to doing such magic, but feel fully justified in this incidence, and will thus use my anger in an effective way to give more power to the working, and take personal responsibility for it. The turn of events that occured on Tuesday are heart-wrenching. Through the tragedy let there be light. It is our place as the earths children to heal through positive energy and enlightment. Please do not allow yourself to become apart of the hate, become your own healer and use your energy in a good way. We can heal, you all know this. Take this knowledge and use it wisely. Do not judge, it is not our place. "If Mickey Mouse were a terrorists, would all those that wore Mickey Mouse caps terrorists too?" Be kind to your neighbor, be them like you or not. Give example to others around you, it is contagious. We will rise from this tragedy, and into a world of light. Light your candles, and direct your energy in a healing manner. It has been two days and I am still in shock and hurting. Please pray for all the rescue workers especially those who are digging survivors and bodies out of the rubble. Some areas of the pentagon and the WTC are unsafe to appraoch. Rescue workers are in despair knowing that may be survivors but that thay will be unable to assist them. Lord and Lady I ask you to help any way you can, even if it is to comfort souls of those who passed on. I have also heard of muslims and mosques being attacked here in america. We should not let anger rule our hearts. Pray to the god and godess for wisdom and healing. |
