Question of the Week: 59 - 9/11/2001 911 America: Talking Through The Terror... Talking Through The Terror... And helping each other cope with the tragedies that struck at the very heart of the United States. The Witches Voice has opened up this forum in order that Pagans may express their thoughts on the terrorist attacks that took place in NYC and DC on September 11th. As the full realization of what happened and the toll numbers begin to come in, Americans have many challenges ahead. What are your thoughts on these incidents? How are you feeling? Feel free to post any magickal workings or other support gatherings planned in your area. A Call to All Witches & People of Magick! In response to the horrific tragedy that has attacked our shores on September 11th, 2001, plus the lives of millions of people around the world during the past and present; I call upon all witches and people of magick to join me in a solid vision that STOPS the psychotic carnage control of Osama Bin Laden, and TERMINATE any and all deeds of his regimeÕs terrorist acts including their so called "honor suicide mission." Remember the movie ÒThe Craft?Ó Here are two incantations to begin with. Repeat as much as will flow through you. I wish I could've said something. I had a dream on August 11th, that I recorded on my online journal I saw the highrise, I saw the destruction. I felt the shrapnel, I saw and felt the death, but I honestly thought it was happening in Macedonia. I can't tell you the grief I feel. It's horrid. My heart and soul cry for the people that died, are suffering, and for those that lost people in the tragedies in the States. I so wish I could've said something to help, but I'm not sure I would've been heard. All I can do is send love and pray for peace. May the Goddess and God protect us all, everyone! |

America needs to step back and think about what we are doing, before we run off to declare war on people (the common people of Afghanistan) who may have done nothing whatsoever to deserve it. I feel that we are reacting in the heat of anger, however righteous, and we need to take that into account. I feel fairly certain that Bin Laden was behind the attacks (wonderful how the CIA trained him), and if I remember correctly things he has done in the past, it would not be (is not?) out of character at all for him to be trying to start a jihad, a holy war, against America; to start a war between the West and Islam. We are a nation founded on Freedom Ð of religion, of speech, of thought. We have grown up with these freedoms as natural to us as breathing, and perhaps take them for granted because of it. We must not do that; we must not forget how precious and hard earned these things are. A war between Islam and the West would only bring blood and tears to far too many of Terra's children. We need to stop and think before reacting in anger, to be certain that the course of action we take is the correct one. And if war is in truth the correct action, then the world itself will shake with the thunder of the wardrums. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am keeping myself up-to-date as much as I can on all that is happening, and am letting my Reps and Sentators at Congress know how I feel. I've been numb the past couple of weeks as most of the world. I agree with Wren on this weeks comments about our need to find a leader for comfort in such a time of being lost. I do have to say I have found a leader in reading the WitchVox for comfort and kindred thoughts the days past. Her thoughts and inspiration has given me back clairity and purpose. Thank you WithcVox! Today I finally sat down to read out of one of my books. I missed the Mabon celebration due to the gloom that set over me but I wanted to get back in the swing of things again and still have my ritual of what Mabon is all about. It is all about returning to balance. Light with Dark. In one book "The Goddess Companion" by Patricia Monaghan, I was compelled to read the daily meditation for September 11. This is what it reads: Remeber this, and keep these words in your heart: from this moment until you die, you are mine. I have made you whole and, in turn, you will now be my devotee, dedicated to my service. You will be happy always, under my protection, and when your destined death comes to you, you will be happy in the afterworld as well, because you have known me. When you die, you will see another side of me: queen of death, as I am now queen of life, shining in the darkenss then with a light as strong and kind and gentle as this light which shines upon you now. -Apuleius, the Golden Ass With all of those lost to death on that day I am comforted that they will find light in the dark with the tremendous outpouring of love from all the people around the world. Those of us too who have been lost in life to that horrible day again we also will find light amongst the dark with again the tremendous outpouring of love from all the people around the world. To all of you who would seperate us for one reason or another, you forget there is one similarity that bonds us tight forever. We are all people flesh and blood created in this same world. I do not believe that something as powerful, beautiful and beyond our knowledge would give birth to such a creation as we are to overrule one over another; to cause such pain and sufferring and then try to blame another for the act. What kind of incredible creation does that make us? Learn to know, learn to gain insight, learn to love, learn to live and let others live as peacefully. We are one world! May the world continue to shine brighter and brighter with each coming day until harmony and peace succeed. Bless Be! |

The date of the attack: 9/11 - 9 + 1 + 1 = 11 The date of the attack: 9/11 - 9 + 1 + 1 = 11 September 11th is the 254th day of the year: 2 + 5 + 4 = 11 After September 11th there are 111 days left to the end of the year. 119 is the area code of Iraq/Iran. 1 + 1 + 9 = 11 Twin Towers - standing side by side, looks like number 11 First plane to hit the towers was Flight 11 State of New York - The 11th State added to the Union New York City - 11 Letters Afghanistan - 11 Letters The Pentagon - 11 Letters Ramzi Yousef - 11 Letters (convicted or orchestrating the attack on the WTC in 1993) Flight 11 - 92 on board - 9 + 2 = 11 Flight 77 - 65 on board - 6 + 5 = 11 And on September 11, 1941, groundbreaking & construction of the Pentagon began. It was a slow day at the office on Tuesday morning. I was playing in a gin tourny...I was doing well... Then I saw a bunch of people gathering. I asked what happened - "Something, a small plane hit the WTC"...oook - sadly, I must confess I didn't think much of it. Then, I heard the "Oh my God"s - the second plane had hit. I got up, and watched. I lost the match, and went back to watching - just in time to see the first building fall, and the scenes of the Pentagon in flames. I thought "Great Goddess - all those people!" Then I saw the second one fall.... I support the Air Force, and work in Rosslyn VA - all of a few miles and minutes from the Pentagon - some of the buildings can see it, and saw the smoke rising. I was numb. There was nothing I could do, and we were not getting any guidance from mgmt, so I went back on the computer. Of all things, my SISTER called me to make sure I was OK, and if I was heading home, because roads were starting to be closed. We don't talk, haven't ever been close - that's when I got scared. Then I found out that a co-worker who I am friends with had a father at the Pentagon. Luckily, he was ok - if the plane had hit higher on that wall, it would have plowed across the inner courtyard - and into him. During the weekend, I found out that a recent acquaintance works right at the impact site...if he had not been making a delivery across the street, he would have been there. He got to see the plane hit, and many of his co-workers died or were seriously hurt. I have been fortunate - noone I know was hurt, either in NYC, the Pentagon, or the planes. But I feel sorrow for those who have lost someone they love or knew. I know that we must strike back; my only fear is that we will strike at the wrong targets. That innocents who have committed no wrong save to be citizens in a troubled country will pay for the evils of its unwanted & unloved leaders, and a madman(men). That those who are simply descended from another place, or believe differently, will be targeted, as they already have. I fear that if we go to war, as it seems we must, that my husband comes back safely. He is not active duty, but he is ex-spec ops, and has been in that part of the world before. He has said that he joined to protect this country, and that if called, he will do so again. It never seemed like much about his military past, except it shaped some of his attitudes/opinions/actions - but now, it is scary. And yet, I am proud. May the Gods Bless America - may we continue to be one nation under Them. |

On Tuesdays, my first class is at noon, so I usually wake up around 10. My boyfriend had been visiting me, and his friend called around 9:30, telling him about planes hitting the World Trade Centers and that he should turn on the news. He climbed out of bed and turned on the TV, then came back and told me to come watch the news. There were two thoughts running through my head as I watched events unfold. First, I kept hoping that he would wake me up soon, because I was obviously having a bad dream. Second, I kept thinking that I'd seen this before... in some movie. The image of people sprinting down the street as the second tower collapsed called up memories of disaster movies. However, the image that stuck in my mind the most is the people hanging out the windows of the top stories. I have a book that I love dearly called "The Seventy Wonders of the Ancient World". The very first wonder described in the books is the pyramids of Giza. My friend has always believed that I possess some sort of psychic gift, given my ability to sense chi. When I opened the book Tuesday afternoon, to the first page about the pyramids, I had some sort of flash. I saw Mohammed Atta, one of the suspects, and I believe he IS Egyptian. I saw the exact picture that has been circulating on the news circuit. (On a lighter note, I literally fell off my couch when I saw his picture on TV.) Now this may sound strange, but I want to ask anyone out there with a psychic gift to use it. What you see may help us. The first thought I had when I heard that the suspects were "Islamic" extremists resembled: "oh crap, all the brown people in this country are going to have to go into hiding." All I wished for was something to prove me wrong. I have been a Buddhist longer than I have been a Pagan, and as such, I see the Dalai Lama as one of my spiritual leaders. He has written a letter to our president, which you can find at http://www.tibet.com/NewsRoom/hhdl-letter.htm if you're interested. I will quote part of what he said, because it sums what I believe and he is more eloquent than I. "...we need to think seriously whether a violent action is the right thing to do and in the greater interest of the nation and people in the long run. I believe violence will only increase the cycle of violence. But how do we deal with hatred and anger, which are often the root causes of such senseless violence? This is a very difficult question, especially when it concerns a nation and we have certain fixed conceptions of how to deal with such attacks." I hope that our military will have good aim, and avoid hitting civilians and those not involved. Just remember, for those of us who believe in reincarnation: the people who did this are screwed in their next lives. The universe does better justice than people could ever dream of. The only thing I've ever truly prayed for, my entire life, was compassion. I prayed that the world would be infused with it, and it would be a better place. I have prayed for this since the second I became Buddhist. Please join me in this prayer. |

I thought that I would post an email that I wrote to teh president. I may forward this tot he St. Petersburg times as well: Dear Mr. President, I am writing to ask you a small question and favor. I know that you may not agree with my path of beliefs, but please do not judge me based upon them. I am a good person. I just happen to be pagan, that does not make me any less American. I have noticed that during all of the multi-cultural and multi-religious services, there were no pagan words of comfort. Why is this? Is it because none of our leaders were invited to speak? I feel as if I am part of a red-headed stepchild group that has been forgotten because our beliefs are not mainstream. The favor I would like to ask of you is this: a little recognition, a little understanding and a little word of prayer for our fallen. Granted we are not a huge group, we are but small compared to the vast other groups. I would like to recommend to you that you check out the following website for some insight to our beliefs and thoughts: http://www.witchvox.com.
