Question of the Week: 86 - 11/24/2002

How’s Your Gratitude Attitude?

It has been a rough couple of years in this world of ours. Wars and terrorist threats make the news every day. You seem to run into every cranky person on the planet. You think that your phone might be tapped -- or soon will be -- or really should be. Your family is a little less than Brady Bunch perfection and the holidays haven’t even reached full swing yet and already you have run out of money and gained ten pounds. (You know where!)
Has your 'gratitude attitude' taken a big hit of late? Or are you still the poster child for the ‘Every cloud has a silver lining’ platform? How do you maintain an attitude of -- or develop an aptitude for -- thanksgiving when the going gets rough?
Who and/or what are you the most grateful to/for?

| Thank You Lord And Lady | Nov 30th. at 6:26:26 pm EST |

| Jackie (Sacramento) | Age: 46 - Email |

I have so much to be thankful for. I thank the Lord and Lady every day that I can hear my loved ones' voices. I thank the Lord and Lady for meeting my needs in finding a home for my daughter and me and for my beautiful sister-in-law, with whom I've shared a home up until now. It was hard for us, but we knew it was time to take this step, and the God and Goddess are caring for our every need.
Love and bright blessings! Jackie G

| Grateful Enough | Nov 30th. at 5:48:54 pm EST |

| Alana (Milwaukee WI) | Age: 21 - Email |

I am grateful to have a roof over my head a boyfriend that loves me and that I love. I'm grateful for my cat and my human friends, and my mom. This world is not perfect, but nothing is. We shouldn't expect it to be.

| Too Many To List | Nov 30th. at 1:00:58 pm EST |

| Lady Dragonfhair (Pinellas Park, Florida) | Age: 36 - Email |

I'm thankful for so much, it would be impossible to list them all here. The top five things I am thankful for in my personal life are: 1. The people who love me and those that I love-husband, family and friends. 2. My cats, for they help to keep my ego in check. 3. The mortgage, the, credit card, phone, water & electric bills and the car payment for they mean that I have a roof over my head, clothes on my back, communication with the world, I am clean and warm and have a means of getting to where I need and want to go. 4. My job, which gives me someplace to go every day and helps to pay for all the things in #3. 5. The air I breathe and the sun and moon that watch me as I go about my way in life.
This world isn't perfect, and the Lord and Lady know there is way too much stress and strife, but we are here. And that's the biggest thing to be thankful for.
Blessings! -Lady D.

| Thankful? Yes | Nov 29th. at 11:28:42 pm EST |

| Moonlightweaver (Winnie, Texas) | Age: 49 - Email |

This is the first year of my life without both my parents, my father crossing over several years ago and my Mom crossing over recently. I had just had abdominal surgery and thought about feeling sorry for myself. Then my daughter, who is due within the month with my first grandchild, came over excited to learn how to make a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings like my mother and her mother and her mother before her did. The excitement of tradition was infecteous and before long I was in full swing. I told her stories of my childhood around the family cooking and celebrating family, stories I had heard my parents and grandparents tell down through the years and before long the whole family was in the kitchen cooking, tasting and laughing. It was one of the best holidays I have had in a while. The whole time I could feel my Mom around me and knew she was with us as always. I am very thankful that I am alive and well, and have a family to share the past, present and future with!

| I'm Greatful For | Nov 29th. at 7:49:23 pm EST |

| Belinda (Beresford SD) | Age: 30 - Email |

Every second of every day. Every sunrise & sunset. Every moment spent with my children...even when they aren't at their best. Every chance I get to tell someone "I love you." Every twinge of pain that I feel that lets me know I'm alive. Every twinkling star in the sky. Every rainbow, thunderstorm and blizzard. Every sunny day. I think that covers it...oh and coffee :) Thank you god & goddess for the coffee!!!!!

| SilverDragoness (Mississauga) | Age: 19 - Email |

I must say...since the terrorist strikes occurred, it's really made me think. I thank my lucky stars for every little thing that happens in my day, may it be seeing an old friend, finding a penny or just having the sun touch my face. I realized that most people, myself included, take things for granted and it's time for us all to open our eyes and realize how lucky most of us really are. What am I MOST grateful for? Absolutely everything.

| Index Is Rather High | Nov 29th. at 1:31:17 am EST |

| Myrddin (wisconsin) | Age: 55 - Email |

My gratitude index has been rather high since three years ago when I had open heart surgery for a quad bypass. My LCA (left coronary artery) had a 98% blockage. I was a ticking bomb waiting to have the big one and didn't even know it. I have a wonderful wife (who is a nurse and likely saved my life by getting my butt into the hospital after I had eaten 100 nitroglycerine pills while trying to work 1/2 hour work, 1/2 hour rest after pill for pains to go away). yeah, I was stupid. And lucky. My wife and I are partners in everything and like one person. My exwife and I remain good friends. Two great sons with good heads on their shoulders and kindness in their hearts. Good friends. What more can you ask? That's really all you need in life, ya know?

There will always be horrors, anger & sadness in this world. If I dwell on it, then it can be extremely debilitating...and I end up in the padded room at the psyche ward. =P

| Being Alive | Nov 28th. at 5:28:27 pm EST |

| Lupin (the Atlantic Ocean) | Age: 35 - Email |

Thanks for being alive after a four hour operation this autumn and for my lover, and family, and my two cats, and my friends who are more supportive than I could ever have hoped for. In return I ask good wishes of the Goddess for my friend Maggie who is fighting an unidentifiable illness and her cat Tiddy who is recovering from a thyroid operation. Blessed Be.

| Octarine (S Brixton) | Age: 35 - Email |

What I really appreciate is access to the internet - a lifeline the last few years when the going got extremely tough.
This year (since February) has been so much easier than the last 5 years or so, that it's hard to believe. So I appreciate a disability doctor who for once believed the person she examined and his carer. And a benefits system which still works, more or less. And free dentistry from a good dentist. And sheer cussedness, without which I'd be dead by now. But most of all, I'm thankful than I don't live in the USA, Afghanistan, or Iraq.
