| I Look On As The United States Faces What Other Countries Wake... ||Sep 11th. at 10:52:05 pm EDT|

I look on as the United States faces what other countries wake up to each and every day. I question why we would believe that we are any different then thousands of people that struggle for life across this vast world. I cry as I read posts from our neighboring countries that send healing to the U.S. In this time of crisis, understand that the world needs healing from us each and every day of our lives. If we as a community, a belief system, truly care about one another, we will take into consideration that we can change things before it becomes crisis.
After sending energy to the immediate crisis, send some to those that feel these effects as a daily concern. Tell someone that you love them and hug someone that truly needs a hug. Step back and understand that the countries that are producing this element of evil are no different then our home and hate will just fester and build more hate. We, as a people, have ignored our neighbors for too long. Our oceans are not strong enough to force them from our lives so we must take them into account and they must become a part of our everyday prayers......
We expect to be treated as we treat one another....make that begin today...and tomorrow and for the rest of our days to begin to unite our world.....

I want to thank Isaac Bonewits, who posted below. Your suggestion for where to concentrate our magickal energies is clear and sane, an anchor in this insane crisis.
| On The Upswing, Finally, From Some Stupid Tenacious Flu-buggy Type Sickness, I... ||Sep 11th. at 10:48:06 pm EDT|
|Secular Pagan (Minneapolis, Minnesota US) ||Age: 37 - Email |
On the upswing, finally, from some stupid tenacious flu-buggy type sickness, I was a bit tired Monday afternoon when I left work and advised my co-workers I would probably sleep in and come in a little later in the morning than usual on Tuesday.
Monday night, despite my fatigue, I had trouble sleeping. Edgy, jittery, who knows, maybe it was a premonition.
Tuesday, drag my butt out of bed ca. 8:30 a.m., putter about a bit on the PC, but no news sites (my browser start page is blank, because I hate waiting for the home page to load every time I open a window), showered, dressed, fixed some breakfast to bring with me and eat at work.
Beautiful early-autumn morning in Minneapolis: clear, bright blue sky, comfortably cool but not chilly. Doot-da-doo, drive, park, walk into the employee entrance. I show my ID, and it takes a moment to register that the guard, for once, did not give the obligatory I-saw-it-thank- you nod, but had his eyes glued on the screen of the TV tuned, as usual, to CNN. I then noticed others were clustered around, not moving on into the building but likewise watching TV. I turned, looked up...
What the f***?
Some kind of crash...explosion...?
Terrorists have attacked and destroyed the World Trade Center, I'm told. When did this happen? About quarter to nine their time; quarter to eight our time. And then they attacked the Pentagon.
I'm numb, staring. I stand there for a good 10 or 15 minutes watching the story unfold (or probably retold, at that point) on TV. Finally, I bestir myself, realize I'd better get to work, and meander upstairs, numb, stunned, trying to take it all in, shutting it out as soon as my mind starts to wrap around the enormity and the horror of it all.
I went through the motions. Heard the stories, the fears: people who knew people who worked in the World Trade Center, or had friends or relatives with friends and relatives out there.
A woman whose best friend since kindergarten worked at the Pentagon; anxiously she awaited hearing from her, tried without luck to contact her.
Another woman whose brother was a complete emotional wreck: He had called her, distraught, horrified, because he and all his co-workers basically witnessed the eradication of their entire sister office in the WTC. He works for the Dallas branch of a financial corporation that had offices near the top of one of the towers, and, being the nature of the financial business, they had a continual teleconference connection between Dallas and New York. In the middle of the usual interactions, ZAP. The connection went dead. And the whole office watched the news in horror as they realized what had certainly happened to their coworkers and friends in New York.
I went through the motions. Got through the day somehow, hit periodically with waves of fatigue, shock, numbing, grief. Fortunately I had to prepare and stuff some copies of our in-house magazine to be distributed via interoffice mail, so I had a blessedly mindless manual labor task to see me through the day. There's something very grounding about folding and stuffing, folding and stuffing, no thinking required.
We talked. We vented. We stared in silence, beyond speech.
I had a meeting in the afternoon. Felt rather shaky, the mood was subdued, perfunctory. A meeting that usually drags to at least the full hour and a half was over in scarcely an hour. My turn to talk; I'm rambling, scattered, apologizing for being so fragmented and disorganized, stumbling toward coherency. The supervisor of the department asks, "Are you all right?"
I stop, nod. "I'll be fine. I just have to get thorough the day." My voice, even to my own ears, is rather less than convincing. I sound exhausted.
He takes the opportunity to remind up that the employee assistance program has resources available for helping people deal with their emotions and reactions to situations like this, and encourages us to avail ourselves of them.
I went back to my desk, by way of another stop with a couple of coworkers at a TV in a neighboring conference room. We say what's already been said a thousand times that day, then slowly drift back to our offices.
I finished the day. Came home. Son is fascinated, but emotionally indifferent. "I feel sympathy, but not empathy, " he says. I seriously consider whether his genetic material should be perpetuated.
And how many times are they going to play that F***ING footage?????

I can't believe it.
Things like today make me worry for the children that, goddess willing, I may one day bring into this world.
Things like today make me worry for the children that today were innocent to what happened - the babes held tight in their mothers arms, the toddlers more intent on eating furniture than watching CNN, the school children who know lots of people were killed but don't know why.
Things like today make me worry for the children that all of us were, and because of todays events, are a little less...
May the souls of those who died today be comforted in their home among the spirits, and may the dogs who perpetrated this act be punished eternally (they are the one use I have for that Christian Hell...)...

|GoldenEagle (Oakland, California US) ||Age: 34 - Email |
As with somemany others I have spent much of this day watching the news in horror and trying to reach my family in Manhattan. They are safe and sound, thank the Gods, yet the pain and shock remain.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all who have lost loved ones and friends - and to the ones who have no answers yet. My energy to thee - may it do thee well.
Blessed Lady and Lord watch over us all on this deeply wrenching night.
Keep us safe from harm, guide our loved ones who have died to into your loving arms and help us find a more peaceful tomorow.

| Like So Many, I've Watched Today's Terrible Events Play Like A Sunday... ||Sep 11th. at 10:31:46 pm EDT|
|Ken Garner (Albany, Georgia US) ||Age: 38 - Email |
Like so many, I've watched today's terrible events play like a Sunday night movie, shocked, saddened and horribly amazed by the pictures on my television screen. As first the reality and then the magnitude of these attacks sank in, I uttered short prayers for the victims, the survivors, the families of both and the many emergency response personnel working in harm's way. Am I angry? Yes, but mostly I'm numb. Do I want retribution? Yes, I want our government to identify, isolate and punish whoever planned and executed these criminal acts. But I will not use my energy to wish these people ill.
I believe justice will be done, the Wheel will turn, karma will be appeased and the path will straighten without my intervention. My hope now is that the American people's growing emotion can be channeled into a work of hope and love and healing.
Peace and light,

In the wake of what has happened in New York, I ask you all to remember this is not only an attack on the United States, but it is also an attack on all free countries in this world.
As a proud and loyal Canadian I stand behind the retaliation actions that the United States may take, however, if this turns into a nuclear war or if the retaliation in any way causes a war, I hold the United States of America in full responsibility.
Do not let the cruel and unbelievable actions of these terrorist acts cloud your judgement.
This is not the time to start World War 3, and I hope you all agree with me.
| I'm A Pagan And A Patriot. As A Follower Of My Faith... ||Sep 11th. at 10:18:07 pm EDT|
|Stormseer (Phoenix, Arizona US) ||Age: 31 |
I'm a Pagan and a patriot. As a follower of my faith, I pray for peace. As an American, I will pick up my rifle and march for the freedoms that those before me fought and died for. Tonight on Capitol Hill, we witnessed men and women with political differences form a common bond. I hope that today's tragedy will inspire the religiously faithful to form a common bond. All of us, regardless of faith or creed, have witnessed real evil. A common bond of the faithful, and the many Gods we serve can defeat this evil which humankind has created.
| The Major Losses We Suffer In Life Seem Like Mountains That Cannot... ||Sep 11th. at 10:17:38 pm EDT|

The major losses we suffer in life seem like mountains that cannot be transcended. Their shadow is cast upon us and we are overwhelmed with devastating grief. We have climbed the peaks of life before and we have walked into it's valleys, but these mountains seem too high, too wide--impassable...
The only way to the other side of the mountains is through the tunnel and, unless we enter it's darkness, we will never see the light again.
Loss hurts and we are tempted to pretend that it hasn't happened or, having happened, that it doesn't really affect us. But it does.
We have no chice but to enter the belly of the whale and stay there long enough to be transformed by the pain, and then to surface with new breath and new life.
Remember---to breathe gives us pleasure. Just to breathe is enough for us to always be happy, to enjoy life. Just to be alive is enough. Feel the pleasure The Goddess and God have given us--- of being alive, the pleasure of the feeling of LOVE ....
After all is said and done --- LOVE remains.
| My Grandmother Will Never Forget How She Was Writing A Letter To... ||Sep 11th. at 10:13:40 pm EDT|
|Reiney Erin "Rain" Attanasio (Warren Wilson College, Swannanoa, North Carolina US) ||Age: 18 - Email |
My grandmother will never forget how she was writing a letter to my grandfather, long before he was my grandfather, and idly listening to the radio when a sudden broadcast told her that Pearl Harbor had been bombed by the Japanese.
My mother remembers to this day sitting in her homeroom class in high school, chatting away with her friends about the handsome star of the school football team when an announcement came over the loudspeaker that stopped everyone cold: President John Fitzgerald Kennedy has been assassinated.
I now have burned into my memory the lazy walk I took from the school library, through the mail room, stopping to look at all the bulliten boards, noticing a girl in front of my dorm was crying, seeing lots of people crowded around the basement television, craning my neck to see . . . the towers of the World Trade Center crumbling to the ground, an announcers voice pondering that "The landscape of New York City has been forever changed, " and later informing me that the Pentagon too had suffered a crash, cities were shutting down, Washington D.C. was evacuated, and there were bomb threats on the Capital Building itself.
I pray for peace, that my children may grow to be very, very old, and not have the memory of some greater or lesser destruction of the United States heavy in their hearts and minds as Pearl Harbor is on my grandmother, as JFK's assassination is on my mother, and as the destruction of the World Trade Center will be for me.
Blessed be to all who suffered . . . or, in otherwords, blessed be to all.

i think it is really sad that these kinds of things happen for no other reason than some stupid anti-u.s. belief i do think that our country sometimes does stick it's nose where it doesn't belong, but this is just wrong, i hope that they realize that who ever that they did these acts in the name of is frowing upon them.It's because these @#!*@$*!@#$ are not servents of any diety. we as a nation try to help the rest of the world we are NOT trying to policing it.
life is a percious thing, and everybody is intitilled to their own opinion
but it is when someone does something like this.just shows how evil people can be at times. i hope i can help bring peace
i did a protection ritual on myself and i did a prayer to all how died that they may find peace, light, and to be truly happy in their next incarnation, but i am far from over. and i ask all who read my entry to do some of their own magick to help heal, protect, and whatever else is needed.
