This is a tragedy. But I have to wonder, if it had happened in a different country would it be considered as bad?

It appears I am in the center of the new 'Bermuda Triangle'. I live in New Jersey...praying for all my friends and neighbors in DC, NYC and also those who died in the crash in Pittsburg. I feel trapped in the middle of a nightmare brought about by hatred and intolerance on the grandest scale possible.
I will not give in to it. Pray...please...stay calm...help others...do what you can to come together and not fall apart.
I will light my candle for all who have been touched by this tragedy.

I first heard about todays attacks as I walked out of my dorm room this morning to take a shower. I am frightened that these attacks will provoke massive anti-arabic sentiment within the US. I am frightened that the focus of our presidents first remarks on this tradgedy regarded vengence.
On each of those planes were people who were willing to give their lives for a cause, that we must assume, they thought was worth that price. Anyone with this mentality must have been filled with tremendous anger. I hope that same anger does not take, or damage, any more lives. I hope that both those who were prepared to die, and those whose lives were cut short, unexpectedly, find peace as they deal with the choices that they made, or the choices that were made for them. I hope this peace extends to the families of the victims as well, and I hope strength will be with the rescue workers at the sites of the attacks, and with the medical staff who are dealing with an incredible number of injuries.
I hope that this tradgedy will bring us together rather then rip us apart.
| The Paradox Of Our Time In History Is That We Have Taller... ||Sep 11th. at 5:12:01 pm EDT|
|Lisa Harding (Santa Barbara, Queensland AU) ||Age: 31 - Email |
The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers; We have wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less; we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences but less time; we have more degrees, but less sense; more knowledge but less judgement; more experts yet more problems; more medicine, but less welless.
We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive to fast, get too angry stay up too late, get too tired, read too little, watch too much TV and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life, we've added years to life, but not life to years.
We've done larger things, not better things. We've cleaned the air but polluted our sould. We've conquered the atom, but not our predjudice. We write more but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. e builf computers to hold more information yet communicate less. These are the times of fast food and slow digestion, big men with small character.
Remember to say a kind word to someone who looks to you in awe, because that little person soom will grow up and leave your side. Remember to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and doesn't cost a cent. Remember to say I love you to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you. Rememver to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.
Give time to love, time to speak, give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.
| In The Face Of This Horrific Attack, Many Pagans Are Circulating Announcements... ||Sep 11th. at 5:11:54 pm EDT|
|Isaac Bonewits (Warwick, New York US) ||Age: 51 - Email |
In the face of this horrific attack, many Pagans are circulating announcements for magical/spiritual workings for peace, calm, protection, and in some cases, retribution.
I offer the simple suggestion that our first efforts should be towards saving those lives that can still be saved. Now and continuously for the next few days, let us focus our efforts on:
putting out the fires now burning,
protecting those who are trapped and/or injured,
protecting the thousands of police, fire fighters, EMTs, and rescue workers on the scene, and
sending those rescuers strength and increased perception and intuition.
There will be time for justice and retribution after the rescue efforts are over. For now, let us use our rage and sorrow to protect the innocent.
| Greetings All My Sisters & Brothers... The World Has Just Become Alot Smaller... ||Sep 11th. at 5:11:37 pm EDT|

Greetings all my sisters & brothers...
The world has just become alot smaller...I walked to work today, and the blank, shocked looks on the faces of people just shook me to the core. I predict (no cards needed here.) that things are about to get VERY FREAKY in the near future. Right now we are in shock...tomorrow it will be anger...
KEEP YOUR HEADS!
Cast your circles, light your candles, say your prayers... But remember our Rule. Harm None. Offer a hand to help, an ear to be bent, or a shoulder to cry on. I myself have a friend that is a waitress in the (Noth) Tower, we still have no word from her... I hope it was too early for her to be at work.
Today I will say a prayer for those that have passed on, I will cast a protection spell, and ask the Goddess to put out the fires of anger...
I am still just a bit in shock... and very scared for the future... but for now I am off to the Blood Bank to donate. I ask that you all do the same.

In my 15 years as a Police Officer, I came to the conclusion that Homo Sapiensas a species is a stupid, unitelligent one. Sure there are exceptions, but on the whole we are a sad lot. Today's activities are a good example. Sadly even here on this board, several people made statements like "we feel sad for the people, but let's look at the reasons..." and then they went on to talk about how the US acts like the world police and how that offends other countries. People murder is murder, whether or not you have a beef with someone or not. Killing innocent civilians in a country to show how bad that country is is not very intelligent. I am a Trekkie. I have always hoped we will be able to get to a time of unity as portrayed in Star Trek. Unfortunately, I am also a realist. I am afraid that, at the rate we are going, any intelligent life "out there" will probably react like the aliens in "Independence Day" and get out the galactic can of RAID on us.

|Hannah (London, England UK) ||Age: 28 - Email |
Having watched these events unfolding on the news today I am shocked at the level of devastation I have witnessed. My heart goes out to all those involved in today's events and to those who have had to learn that a loved one will not be coming home tonight.
This shows me how important it is to let people that we love know how we feel.
Those involved in this terrible tradegy are in my thoughts and prayers and I hope that positive, healing energies that are being sent out into the world will help to stop this chain of violence against innocent people.
| Politicians Keep Saying "we Must Return To Normal As Quickly As Possible... ||Sep 11th. at 5:09:22 pm EDT|
|Lasairochroide (Cedar Rapids, Iowa US) ||Age: 36 |
Politicians keep saying "we must return to normal as quickly as possible, " and yes - life goes on and we are letting "them" win if we shut our country down in fear and chaos. But NO, there are times when life SHOULDN'T just up and move on, and we need to stop and FEEL this and let it be the overwhelming thing that it is, because if we don't face this we can't learn from it as a people. If we feel it deeply enough this time maybe we won't ever have to feel it again...no matter what happens from here on out we will never be the same as a nation. Let us pray that we choose to grow and adapt and learn from this instead of becoming reactionary isolationists.
I keep feeling the vortex of severed souls swirling around lost, and when I can I try to send them love and light and help them find their way. As you work today, tonight, over the next several days, please try to help the dead as well as the living to find peace.
By the way - heard from the Arch Druid for Washington DC Grove, and all members are accounted for and fine.

I can't even begin to wrap my mind around the events of today, and I worry about the possible ramifications and effects this will have. I feel that our world has changed forever, and pray that the violence will end soon.
May the Goddess bless and keep every one of Her children, worldwide.
