Exposing Satanism and Democrats [3]

by Kerr Cuhulain

One of the most common declarations that people of this sort make is that "Satan is already defeated". As I've pointed out in the past, if this is so, one wonders why they are still engaged in "spiritual warfare"? Another argument one might advance is that if this Jehovah is such a great guy and more powerful than Satan, why does he let Satan continue? Libby anticipates these arguments with a section with the title "God's Purpose in Allowing Satan to Continue." Her list includes:

1. To develop character and faith in the believer
2. To keep the believer humble
3. To provide a conflict for saints that they may be rewarded through overcoming
4. To demonstrate the power of God over the power of Satan
5. To use him in afflicting people to ring them to repentance
6. To purge man of all possibility of falling in the eternal future."[74]

Having done this, Libby then declares that "the purpose of the thousand-year reign of Christ after the 2nd advent will be to suppress all rebellion (I Cor. 15:24-28); and the final defeat of Satan and his hosts at the end of that period (the Millennium) must be accomplished before the earth is entirely rid of rebels. They must be confined to the lake of fire forever before rebellion is finally and eternally overcome. The earth will be purified by fire and made perfect the 3rd time; and the kingdom of God will be universal over all free moral agents, as it was before rebellion was started by Satan and Adam in their respective kingdoms."[75]

Another web page in the Exposing Satanism and Witchcraft site is "Children Targetted". On this page they list "the most popular things that have children spell bound, "[76] suggesting that "There is a hidden agenda in these books, games and music. That agenda is to capture the minds of our children, desensitize them and introduce them to the occult thinking and way of life."[77] Watkins admits that he has received "Hundreds of mails" from Christians telling him that there is nothing wrong with the children's things listed on his web site. This doesn't discourage Watkins. Watkins declares that this "just proves a point that the church is not taking a stand and people are desensitized to witchcraft and satanism."[78] The "Children Targetted" List includes:

1. Harry Potter: A new twist to Witchcraft.[79] Watkins admits that Rowlings books are fantasy, but claims that "it is laced with witchcraft and demonology." [80] Watkins describes these books as being "laced with the poison of witchcraft."[81]He rails against people who "see nothing wrong with a book about fantasy, mythology, or witchcraft and some of you so called believers will see nothing wrong with mixing the occult with God."[82] Watkins declares that "The whole purpose of these books is to desensitize readers and introduce them to the occult. What a better way to introduce tolerance and acceptance of what God calls an abomination, then in children's books? If you can get them when they are young, then you have them for life. It's the oldest marketing scheme there is."[83] Church leaders like this ought to know: Many Christian denominations have used this marketing scheme themselves.

Watkins describes Rowling's books as "nothing more then [sic] Satan's way to undermine the family", causing children to "rebel against there [sic] parents."[84] He claims that it was Rowling's intent to cause children to have "power and control over parents and also to have the power of the occult."[85] Watkins complains that the fact that this book has appeared in school libraries is proof of "pagans using the school system to spread their agenda. Your tax dollars are being used to promote Witchcraft and no one is coming against it. Now read a bible or mention Jesus in school and your locked up. Pagans state that theirs is a bona-fide religion with the same rights as Christianity. So why are they allowed to teach it in the schools?"[86]

This rant is followed by links to two articles by Berit Kjos and one Worthy News article on Harry Potter.

2. Pokemon.[87] Watkins complains that Pokemon is "Another clever scheme to seduce children in to occult thinking"[88] that is "laced with eastern mysticism."[89] He complains that the game has been influenced by "Buddhist Mysticism, Hinduism, meditation rituals, Egyptian Book of the Dead, Book of Tao, the Analects of Confucius, the Gita, the I Ching, and The Tibetan Book of the Dead"[90]and claims that the purpose of Pokemon is to "to teach children Witchcraft and Satanism."[91]

3. Animorphs.[92] Watkins describes the books of the Animorphs science fiction series as "sinful and demonic."[93] He describes Katherine Applegate, the author of the Animorphs books, as "this demonic writer"[94] and complains that Applegate is "an Atheist"[95] who "is a huge supporter of evolution and does not believe in an afterlife."[96] Watkins gripes that "She blasphemies God and promotes Satan through her books."[97] He suggests that one of the principle characters, Ellimist, is being substituted for Jehovah and compare the other, Crayak, to Satan. Again, Watkins acknowledges that many Christians do not agree with his take on the Animorphs, stating: "Many readers of the Animorphs series believe in God, and a few have said along the lines of, 'If you want religion, read a Bible. This is fiction.'"[98]

4. Digimons. Watkins merely links this to another Kjos article on Digimons.[99]

Another page on the Exposing Satanism and Witchcraft web site is "Kids That KILL".[100] It refers to a PBS show about Kip Kinkel, "The Killer at Thurston High". Kinkel murdered his parents and then went to his school and killed two more people. Watkins claims that what caused Kinkel to do this was "the music scene and these devil worshiping bands that glorify killing and hatred, "[101] specifically the music of Marylyn Manson. He describes the rock group Nine Inch Nails as "another group of satanists."[102] Watkins claims that Kinkel had "hundreds of these satanic rock bands CD's, which he and friends had stolen."[103] He goes on to claim that "Metal music, role games and Occult movies are just more tools of Satan."[104] "The solution, " Watkins tells us, "is not more gun and government control, it's a need for God control!! More parents need to read the bible and clean up their homes. The White House also needs a good cleaning!!" [105] Watkins tells us that Kinkel told the police that the "voices in his head would not stop"[106] and declares that these were "voices of demons that took control."[107] It sounds more likely to me that Kinkel had untreated psychosis. This is followed by links to multiple Christian sites railing against Satanic Rock music. This is the "Satanic Rock causes Satanism" theme that I discussed in an article on this subject earlier in my Witch Hunts series.

No site of this sort would be complete without an inaccurate and lengthy list of "Occult Signs and Symbols."[108] This is split into two parts, the first compiled by Watkins. This first page includes the following symbols and definitions:

"Inverted Pentagram: Symbolizes the morning star, a name Satan has taken. Used in witchcraft and occult rituals to conjure up evil spirits. Satanists use it 2 points up and pagans use it one point up. Any way it is used symbolizes evil. It matters not if two points are up or one. It matters not if it has a circle around it. It still is a symbol of Satan."[109] Two entries later Watkins shows us an upright pentagram with the word "Witchcraft" superimposed on it followed by the definition "Symbol used in Witchcraft. Represents the elements, earth, wind, fire and water with the spirit surrounding them."[110] As I've said many times throughout this series, the inverted pentagram is used by many other groups who are not Satanic. The upright pentagram is not a symbol of Satanism.

"Baphomet Unique to Satanism. A demonic deity and symbolic of Satan. Can be seen as jewelry. It is also now being used by the masons. It can be seen on their buildings and the emblems the put on their vehicles to identify each other."[111]

Baphomet is not unique to Satanism. Baphomet is a bisexual idol or spiritual symbol, usually with goat attributes, that the Knights Templar were accused of worshipping in the 14th Century CE. There are several theories about how this name was derived. Some suggest that Baphomet is simply a corruption of Mohammed, a theory probably first advanced by the Crusaders who considered the Islamic faith demonic. Some say that it comes from the Arabic "abu-fihamat" ("father of wisdom"). Some say that it is from the phrase "Baphe Meteos" ("baptism of Metis"), Metis being a Greek Goddess of knowledge. Others suggest that Baphomet is "Tem ohp ab" backwards, this being an abbreviation for the expression "Templi omium hominum pacis abbas" ("the father of the temple of peace of all men").

Aleister Crowley used Baphomet in his books Liber Samekh, Liber A'Ash and in his version of the Gnostic Mass. Anton LaVey adopted Baphomet as a symbol in the form of an inverse pentagram with a goat's head superimposed on it, surrounded by the Hebrew letters lamed, vau, yod, tau and nun (LVYTN). These letters spell the Hebrew rendering of the name Leviathan. The name Baphomet also appears as one of the Infernal names listed in Anton LaVey's Satanic Bible and in the Black Mass and Satanic Baptism in his Satanic Rituals, and the symbol depicted here is the symbol of LaVey's church. Bissell's assumption that this symbol is used by the Freemasons comes from the fact that the women's Masonic organization, the Order of the Eastern Star, uses an inverted pentagram as a symbol (but not the one listed by Exposing Satanism and Witchcraft). Other Masonic organizations do not use it as an identifying symbol as they suggest.

"Hexagram- It is one of the most potent symbols used in the working of the powers of darkness. Used to work magic. I get a lot of mail on this one. Satanism takes and perverts Christian symbols. It is satanic when used in an Occult setting with a circle around it."[112] This is that nonsense about hexagrams that we've seen repeatedly throughout my Witch Hunts series. Note how, unlike many of the others that I've written about, Watkins makes an attempt to distance himself from the use of this symbol by Jews. In the second part of this list another version of the hexagram is listed (see below).

"Ankh -Symbolizes fertility rites and the building up of lust within a person. A spirit of Lust is the power of this union of male /female representations. Also called the Long Life Seal."[113] The Ankh, also known as the Crux Ansata or AnX, is an Egyptian symbol. The ankh is an Egyptian heiroglyph meaning both "life" and "hand mirror" (specifically the mirror of the Goddess Hathor). To the Egyptians it was a symbol of sexual union and immortality. It has become a popular symbol in New Age jewellery. All of the Egyptian Gods and Goddesses are depicted holding an ankh. It is not a Satanic symbol.

"Swastika or Sun Wheel -An ancient religious symbol used long before Hitler came to power. It was used in Buddhist inscriptions, Celtic monuments and Greek coins. In sun god worship, it is supposed to represent the sun's course in the heavens."[114] The term Swastika is derived from a Sanskrit root meaning "so be it". It has been a common religious symbol since at least 10, 000 BCE. As they suggest here, it has appeared in religious art in India, Japan, Greece, Rome, Asia Minor, China, Persia, Libya, Scandinavia, Iceland, and the British Isles. The Greeks called the swastika the Gammadion, since it appeared to be composed of four Greek gammas, and considered it to be a sacred symbol. In India it is known as the Dorje. It also appears in Native American art. It is ordinarily drawn with arms pointing clockwise and was regarded as a solar symbol. Drawn with counter-clockwise arms (a Sauvastika) it represented the moon or the feminine. Variations in medieval art include the Croix Gamme, Gamma Cross or Gammadion, the Fulfot or Fylfot, the Croix Cramponee and the Germanic Hakenkreuz. Adolf Hitler adopted the swastika as part of the symbolism of the Nazi party on the assumption that it was an "Aryan" symbol, probably influenced by the eight armed Swastika that had long been the symbol of the ancient German Inquisitional society, the Vehmgericht. The Nazi's use of this symbol has lead most people in modern Western society to associate it with evil, but this was not its original connotation at all.

"Tau Cross - Symbol of the god Mathras [sic] of the Persians and the Aryans of India. To them, Mathras [sic] was an "angel of light" or the "heavenly light". It is used in modern Masonry under the symbol of the T square."[115] That's Mithras, not Mathras. This is this nonsense about this being a Satanic symbol that we've seen time and again throughout my Witch Hunts series.

"Italian Horn - Other names....Unicorn horn and Leprechaun staff.Introduced by the Lord Druids of Scotland and Ireland. It is associated with good luck and good fortune. It is also used to ward off "Maluka" or the "Evil Eye". It also means satan will take care of your finances."[116] This is a combination of a whole lot of urban legends about unicorns, horns, leprechauns and Druids with Satan through in.

"All seeing Eye - Believed to be the eye of Lucifer and those who claim control of it have control of world finances. Used in divination. Hexes, curses, psychic control and all corruption are worked through this emblem. This one is a symbol of the Illuminati. Look at U.S. currency."[117] I discussed this myth in detail in my earlier article on Joseph "Doc" Marquis.

"Zodiac - Used in satanic and occult worship. Practitioners are acknowledging their god as Baal or Lucifer. Horoscope signs are included."[118] The Zodiac is a formation of constellations of stars in the sky. Neither astronomy nor astrology have anything to do with the Devil. Baal and Lucifer are not names used in astrology.

"Goat Head - The horned goat, goat of mendes, Baphomet, god of the witches, the scapegoat. It's a Satanists way of mocking Jesus as the "Lamb" who died for our sins."[119] This is more of that "horn phobia" that people of this sort seem to be obsessed with. The association of the goat with Satan probably originated in the custom of the scapegoat, as is hinted at here. In Israel the sins of the tribes were ceremonially loaded onto the head of a goat. This "scapegoat" represented the god Azazel, 'Messenger of the Lord', who took these sins away each Day of Atonement. The Horned God Azazel was actually a divine redeemer who took human sins upon himself and atoned for them by his exile and/or death, and you can read this for yourself in Leviticus 16:20 in the Bible: "An when he has made an end of atoning for the Holy place and the tent of meeting and the altar, he shall present the live goat; and Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the people of Israel, and all their transgressions, all their sins; and he shall put them upon the head of the goat, and send him away into the wilderness by the hand of the man who is in readiness. The goat shall bear all their iniquities upon him into a solitary land; and he shall let the goat go in the wilderness."

It may have been these early traditions that lead later Christian clergy to associate the goat with Satan, their personification of evil. Since many Pagan religions have nature deities that have horns or antlers, these too were associated by early Christians with the Devil, and this also may have played a part in the later association of goats with the Devil. Clearly this wasn't meant as a Satanist's way to mock Christ. It is true that the goat is associated with the Devil by many modern Christians, but if you look in the Bible you will see that he is described as a serpent.

The Goat of Mendes is another entity that seems to make his way into fundamentalist literature of this sort. Mendes is a contraction of the Greek name Mendesius, given to the kingdom of Lower Egypt. The God of Pa-bi-neb-tat ("the dwelling of the Lord of Spirit, Lord of Tat"), the principal city of Mendes, was Nesa-Bi-Neb-Tat, represented as a man with the head of a ram. This deity was later associated with Ra, the Egyptian Sun God, the ram headed man becoming a symbol of Ra. The Goat of Mendes subsequently appeared in Occidental Magical literature: In the magical system of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn the Goat of Mendes is a mythical figure mentioned in the Rite of the Pentagram and the Five Paths.

In modern Christian and Satanic literature the Devil is depicted as a man with goat attributes so it was perhaps inevitable that these religious groups should interpret the Goat of Mendes as a Satanic symbol. The Satanists, in turn, adopted this symbol as their own from the Christian misinterpretation. For example, the Goat of Mendes is described as an aspect of the Devil that is half man and half goat in Anton LaVey's Satanic Bible.

"Cross of Nero - Or Peace sign. Another sign that mocks the cross of Jesus. Also know as 'The Dead Man Rune'. It appears on the tombstones of some of Hitler's SS troops."[120] The difficulty with all these claims is that the peace symbol only dates back to Easter 1958: It was created by well known author Bertrand Russell, who used it as a symbol in a march for nuclear disarmament that took place in Aldermaston, England. The symbol consists of three elements: The semaphore signal for the letter "N" (nuclear) superimposed over the semaphor signal for the letter "D" (disarmament), surrounded by a circle (representing the concept "total"). Thus the completed symbol was supposed to represent "total nuclear disarmament".

The confused notion that the Nazi's used this symbol is probably from his misunderstanding of Runic alphabets. There is a letter in the Anglo Saxon and Thames versions of these alphabets which resembles the peace sign without the circle: It represents the letter "K" in our Roman alphabet. The Nazi's did use runes, but not the peace symbol, which wasn't created until several years after the demise of the Third Reich.

"Yin-Yang - In Chinese philosophy, two great opposite principles or forces on whose interplay everything depends. Yang is male, light and positive, Yin is female , dark and negative."[121] Five thousand years ago the I Ching first proposed the concept of Yin and Yang, forms of energy that combine to form everything in the universe. The I Ching said that out of Wuji (nothing) came Taiji, which was composed of Yin and Yang. This, in turn, broke down into eight basic situations or trigrams that represented the elements. Yin is the female, negative, dark, passive principle in the universe. The concepts associated to it are: cold, water, soft, dark, wood, mother and near. Its complement is Yang, the male, positive, light, active principle of the universe. The concepts associated to it are hot, fire, hard, light, metal, father and far. It has nothing to do with Satanism.

"Scarab Beetle - The dung beetle which is the Egyptian symbol of reincarnation. It is also a symbol of of Beelzebub, Lord of the flies (satan). Worn by occultists to show that they have power and is a source of protection."[122] The Egyptian Scarabaeus or Scarab Beetle was the symbol of the Egyptian God Kheph-Ra, not Beelzebub or Satan. This association seems to refer to the way these beetles roll balls of dung: It was similar to the fashion in which Kheph-Ra was believed to roll the sun across the sky. It is often taken to be a symbol of the creator.

"Satanic Cross - Upside down question mark that questions the Deity of God. Within the occult it is the representation of the three crown princes; Satan, Belial and leviathan. Symbolizes complete power under Lucifer."[123] This is a concept that we first saw in the works of Michael Warnke, who I discussed earlier in the Witch Hunts series. It is usually called a "cross of confusion" by these people.

"Udjat - or all seeing eye. one of few symbols referring to Lucifer (king of hell), whom it is though will pass judgment. Below the eye is a tear because he mourns for those outside his influence."[124] The Utchat (Variations: Udjat, Udjatti or Wedjat) is a common symbol from Egyptian mythology which at various times represented the eye of the Goddess Ma'at or of the Gods HarWer (Haroeris or Horus the Elder), Thoth or Ra. It appears to have first been used for Ma'at, since her name is based on a verb "to see" and since she was considered the Mother of Truth, indicating that she saw all. Two eyes, called Udjatti, were often painted or carved into sarcophagi in the Dynastic period, and are thought to represent the eyes of Ra and Thoth, placed there to avert evil influences. The Sun and Moon were thought to be the right and left eyes of HarWer. It has no connection with Lucifer, who does not appear in Egyptian mythology at all. blork

"Star and Crescent - Represents the moon goddess Dianna and the"son of the morning", the name of Lucifer in Isaiah 14:12.Witchcraft uses it the way shown and Satanism turns it in the opposite direction."[125] This is the myth that cropped up in Warnke's Satan Seller and that we hae seen throughout this series.

"Anarchy - Means to abolish all laws. In other words "do what thou wilt" the law of Satanists. Used by Punk rockers and Heavy Metal followers."[126] According to Peter Marshall the "circled-A" represents Proudhon's maxim "Anarchy is Order."[127] Peter Peterson also adds that the circle is "a symbol of unity and determination" which "lends support to the off-proclaimed idea of international anarchist solidarity."[128] It is not clear when this symbol was first used as a symbol of anarchists. On November 25 1956, at its foundation in Brussels, the Alliance Ouvriere Anarchiste (AOA) adopted this symbol. Going even further, a BBC documentary on the Spanish Civil War shows an anarchist militia member with a "circled-A" clearly on the back of his helmet.[129] According to Peter Marshall, "[i]n 1964 a French group, Jeunesse Libertaire, gave new impetus to Proudhon's slogan 'Anarchy is Order' by creating the circled-A a symbol which quickly proliferated throughout the world."[130] Today the circled-letter "A" is one of the most successful images in the whole field of political symbolism. Its "incredible simplicity and directness led [it] to become the accepted symbol of the restrengthened anarchist movement after the revolt of 1968" particularly as in many, if not most, of the world's languages the word for anarchy begins with the letter A.[131] It is not a Satanic symbol.

This symbol is actually used in Eastern Europe for an entirely different purpose: An alert reader sent me photos of bomb shelters in Romania, the location of which is marked by this circled A symbol.

"666 -The number of man. The mark of the Beast. Revelation 13:18"[132] In fact, "FFF" is an abbreviated version of "FFFF", an ancient Saxon blessing meaning "Flags, Flax, Fodder and Frigg". It is a blessing upon the house (flag stones of the hearth), possessions (flax representing clothing), food (fodder) from the Norse Goddess Frigg or Freya. The shorter three letter version stands for Flags, Flax and Fodder. Popular literature about Satanism in modern times has interpreted this shortened version as being synonymous with the number 666 (F being the sixth letter of the alphabet). FFF is a very common Neo-Pagan blessing and Neo-Pagans aren't Satanic.

At this point in the list Watkins lists several variations of a common hand gesture that you'll recognize from other articles in my Witch Hunts series:

"Horned God Represents the horned god of witchcraft. Pan or Cernunnos. Note the thumb under the fingers and given by the right hand."[133] This is correct, but neither Pan nor Cernunnos are connected to Satan.

"Horned Hand - The sign of recognition between those in the Occult. When pointed at someone it is meant to place a curse. Note the thumb over the fingers and given by the left hand."[134] You'll recognize that this goofy idea came straight of Frattarola's America's Best Kept Secret, as are many of the other symbols in this list.
