Gaea Goddess Gathering 1998

I'm just getting back from a wonderful Spiritual weekend at the 2nd Annual Goddess Gathering.

It was a great time for all. Over One Hundred women from all Lifestyles were in attendance.

The Gatherings' Opening Ritual was a Wind Chime Ritual held at Venus Sanctuary Wind Chimes where left for the Goddess. Again, this year, the Festival was blessed by the Goddess with having Maiden, Mother and Crone from the same Family in attendance.

The Ritual Friday night was Inanna, We started on the far side of the dam, and the way was lit with Luminaries. At Each of the Seven Gates to our decent to the underground we gave something up that showed our Stamina in the above ground and then the gate keeper allowed us to go through the gate. The way got darker at each gate and it got harder to give something up. By the Seventh Gate we were stripped of every thing from the above ground. The way was completely dark. As we made entrance passed the last of the seventh gates we walked away and in the distance in the cove standing between two Oak Trees with a fire burning in front of her and her alter set up with bones on it stood Ereghkigal dressed in black and bones on her waist. She welcomed us all as sisters and asked if we had went there to reclaim the bones of our backbone and the blood that flowed out of our bodies or what we had come to the land of the dark for. She asked us all if we were ready to regain the place that was rightfully ours and that which had been taken from us. To which we all replied yes. She advised, that it would not be an easy job. That we all needed to search deep within ourselves and realize that we were the only ones that could make a difference and it all started with us taking a stand and bringing something back out of the underworld with us. Be it the power of voice, the courage to face our fears, the need for the respect of our views. Or that we could bring something back that we had given away but to give it a new light, when we emerged to the above ground. After each of us faced Ereghkigal with our decisions there was dancing and rejoicing by all.

Saturday was spent in workshops on such subjects as Psychic Protection, making our Soul Doll and a Mermaid Ritual and then a drumming workshop. The Mermaid Ritual was held at the dock and we learned of two more goddess symbols those being the mirror and the comb but it's unknown for sure where they came from. We all looked at Vanity, Beautification, Soul Searching and Cleansing and were told the Mermaid Story.

We also made our Soul Dolls for the Ritual Saturday night. While we were making our Soul doll we were reminded of another Goddess. Who knew she was getting ready to leave the above world and before she left she wanted to give her daughter something to be remember her by and something to carry and to keep with her at all times to help her through her termoils. Not one our dolls looked the same when we were done. Just another way of showing we all have our own inner self. We carried our dolls with us for the rest of the weekend and at the Ritual Saturday night our dolls were all blessed and we were all blessed by a visit from a Special Surprise Goddess.

The Ritual Saturday night stated at the far end of the dam and the whole way was lit wit Luminaries clear down and around Venus Sanctuary. It was a very Powerful and Heat Rising Ritual and was a time for us all to let our inner self out and get wild and just completely enjoy the Power and the Spirit of the Goddess Power.

We all came away with a burning Power inside of us to keep the Goddess alive. We all danced around the fire and got wild, in the Energy and power we all enjoy.

Sunday was another day of workshops and the rain that came down might have made us all wet but the Power that was awakened with in us all kept rising.

I look forward to next year and seeing all of my Sisters again and enjoying all of the power again. I only hope that I continue to feel the power within myself through this year. The Goddess Blessing was felt by us all.

Thanks again Carrie and Rosalie for a Great Festival.

Blessed Be,

Quite Shadow
