| Pantheism-Realising the All in All

Author: Guineith

I have been mulling over something enormously significant lately, something so amazing that if you stop to think about it, it will change your life forever. I have been considering exactly what it means to live in a Pantheistic universe.
When I have been asked my religious views I have been describing myself as a Pantheist as I have realized that this is what I truly believe. But what never ceases to astound me is exactly what this means:
Divinity is everywhere-the God and the Goddess together.
When I was a child growing up in a Christian household, I was taught that God was all-powerful, all knowing and ever-present...omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. Somehow, though, the physical world was separate from humankind. In a childlike way I accepted this, actually until quite recently.
Then I got to thinking, “What if God was missing from one small and insignificant corner of the universe-say, the corner of an envelope or my cat’s big toe?” He would cease to be omnipresent, as he would exist everywhere except for one feline digit. The rest of the cosmos would be thrown into consternation by this deficiency and the result would be universal collapse.
There are, in the universe, five fundamental forces although science generally only recognizes four of these. The fifth force is unknown and immeasurable but absolutely essential to prevent the collapse of the universe. I call this 5th force the God force-others have called it Orgone energy, Qi, Life Force or Aether.
It is the power that magick and prayers work by and it is the scaffolding on which the rest of the Universe is built. Without it all that we see would implode with such fire and heat that nothing would be able to survive.
Let’s just suppose that as the Christians say, God fills the universe but is separated from it. Is God an exoskeleton? Does that mean that there are parts of you and I that are not directly connected to God?
Why has the universe not collapsed yet? Does God hold all the atoms together yet remain separated from them? The inside of an atom is a vast expanse if you are an electron and that’s a big space for God not to be!
The fifth force operates even at the sub-atomic level, within the atomic nucleus. This means that God is in the heart of every atom, making up every molecule, making up every protein and every cell that forms you, me and every other being, animate and inanimate.
All things are a part of the Great Divine. As the Hindus say, all Deities are merely facets of the Great Brahma. There is nothing that is separated from Him (oh how I wish for a gender neutral proper pronoun! I include the feminine Goddess energy here too!)
All this could just be dismissed as idle speculation, a thought experiment at best, except that this is such a prevalent belief of shamanic and traditional religious practitioners worldwide. There are hundreds of people who have seen the reality of these things first hand in initiations, ceremonies or as a shamanic dream. I also am one of them, although it was not my choice to see such things.
My first experience of the omnipresence of God was when I was just nine years old. Since childhood I have had lucid dreams and also dreams of flying and on this particular night I dreamt lucidly that I was in the centre of God.
What did it feel like?
Terrifying!
Just imagine being lost in space, a billion light years from the nearest star- except of course that God is full of light and benevolent, not cold and dark like space is. I felt smaller than an atom.
I had this same dream when I was 22 and at that time I was able to comprehend more, so I saw more. Also, I knew what was happening so I was not as frightened. I sensed that the universe was there somewhere, inside God, but I couldn’t see it.
It wasn’t as if God stopped and the cosmos started. The universe is a part of Him, just like your heart is a part of you. You cannot separate your heart from who you are, but you are more than just your heart. You have a mind and a spirit, a body, a brain, arms, legs, eyes and so on.
I also found that I could soar upwards forever, or downwards forever, but I would never be outside of God. However, to soar upwards was much better, because when I soared upwards I felt as though I was soaring into ever increasing light and joy. Soaring downwards led to greater darkness, depression and negative energy.
As soon as I realized this, I stopped soaring downwards and started my upward journey once more.
It was then that I began to realize that God was the All in All, but it has taken another 10 years (to this present day) for the belief to blossom into fully-fledged Pantheism.
Pantheism is an amazing concept. Because God is Pantheos, nobody ever has to be separated from the Divine. Just imagine what our lives would be like if we walked every day in the consciousness that we are surrounded by and infused with God and Goddess.
Would troubles still come? Of course they would, but we would see them in a different light. They would be like the sand that forms a pearl within an oyster. Even when the heaviest blows strike, they would be like those of an axe or chisel that shapes a rough piece of wood into a beautiful bowl.
I speak here as someone who has experienced great loss and suffering in my life. I was widowed before I was thirty and I have at times had to flee for my very life, taking my two small children with me. I have been homeless and betrayed by even my (so called) close friends and family.
Was it hard then to see the omnipresence of God? Too right, it was damned hard!
Yet now, looking back I can see that Divinity was keeping me safe all through that time.
Do I still face challenges? Of course I do, everybody does.
Yet now I look at a mighty tree growing, or a sunset, or the starry night, or the sea...I remember the God who is the All in All, the Pantheos, and I am encouraged.
I remember all of the things that could have gone wrong and yet didn’t. I look at where Divinity has placed me and it is a good place, with beautiful friends and a great climate.
Although we are not rich, neither do we lack for anything. Anything I really need just seems to be there for me, because the All arranges it. Even in storms and death, I see new life emerge. An old tree dies and is reborn as fire, or as fertile soil, or as a vibrant community and home for a myriad of tiny creatures.
Likewise, none of us shall ever truly die, our flesh shall return to the womb of the Goddess and our spirits shall fly to the heart of God.
Both will be reborn at another time and so shall the Journey be along the Eternal Road.
Blessed Be, Beloveds,
Until next time, Guineith
