Brazilian Mabon Celebration in São Paulo

To prove that Wicca already holds strong roots in Brazilian scenario, Pagans of all ages have gathered once again to celebrate the ancient rites in a Mabon Celebration, sponsored by the members of the Dianic Nemorensis Tradition, one of the most active Pagan groups in Brazil.
Public celebrations like this have been happening for over 8 years, which certainly have contributed to making Paganism known and respected as a not only valid but also serious religion in Brazil. Ten years ago, we had just a few Pagans who were brave enough to show their faces in public rites and also television and radio interviews and we now feel (and, most important, know) that Brazilian Paganism has grown strong, showing us the results of the efforts that we have been making all these years.
Approximately 200 Witches got together for the Autumn Equinox Celebration that took place in the "Auditório da Cidadania" ("Citizenship Auditorium") , a place offered by the City Hall of São Paulo, which is the biggest town in Latin America.
As Brazil is famous for its warmth, Brazilian Witches will always be famous for their powerful ways of celebration, with lots of chants and dance - two of the oldest forms of magic. The ritual was fierce, marked by drumbeats that helped Brazilian Witches welcome Autumn and prepare themselves for the darkest times yet to come.
The ritual reached its highest point when the participants started to give thanks for their harvest, both spiritual and material, in the past year. One could truly notice the energy and sincerity in their voices!
Following the traditional Mabon activities, each participant crafted a Kern Baby, which was consecrated to represent abundance and also hope through the following months. These dolls were made of sheaves of wheat and seeds to represent the plenty of their harvest and decorated with coloured ribbons, symbols of the Spring yet to come, the opposite point of balance in the year.
As it was the last Sabbat celebration before Samhain, when the Wheel is going to turn once again, when the ritual came to its end the participants could pick a message out of a bowl on the altar, which had small wraps of paper containing a seed and a keyword representing an action that shall be planted and taken care of during the following year: knowledge, love, power, sex, balance and so on - a message of the Gods, that told each one what must be cultivated in the future.
With nothing but pride and happiness, we decided that it would be nice to share this with you, our sisters and brothers in faith and principles, who also work by spreading awareness and truth about the Goddess Path.
Even in this distant land, the seeds have grown wise and blossomed into beautiful and powerful flowers, that will surely spread the colours of Her beauty to our loved, Mother Earth.
May the Mother of all Gods hold us always, so we can bring hope and magic to our lives. Blessed be!
