| Paganism is the Foundation

For me, Paganism is everything. That is the beauty of it!
All other religions are just in denial about the fact that they are pagan.
Paganism is the foundation of all spiritual, philosophical thought process and practices that we refer to in our societies as Occult, Gnostic, religious or scientific.
All expansion of thought and science in human society has come from the origin of paganism that is sometimes referred to as Shamanism or even as Animism.
Much of what is thought of as paganism today is but a pale reflection of the truth. To find the real inheritance of paganism in its original form, you need to look at the current work that is going on around Quantum Physics.
The Pagan and Shamanistic traditions always accepted and sought to work with the insubstantial nature of reality and use the force of the mind and the belief of the practitioner to change the face of reality while giving credit and due respect to the natural world.
An acceptance that all of the human race has the ability to effect the reality of the universe, and that we are all part of the greater being that is the existence of the creator sometimes known as the supreme being or God, has always been part of the belief system of the pagan thinkers.
There is no ‘I’; there is no ‘You’. We are; and we are either good or bad in relationship to each other and in how we use our power to support the whole that is us and is God.
The truth is that we, as our conceptualization of ourselves, are so small and insignificant in the greatness of the whole that we cannot possibly be heretical or a profanity against the nature of the reality of the creator responsible for the creation of all that is.
It is in my book both a profanity and a blasphemy to even think that we could be able to sin against God. If there was a fall from grace as thought of by the biblical community, then the fall was to think that we could make any difference by eating of the tree of knowledge. It is not accepting that we are just part of the natural order of things and ‘sin’ is just a way of saying, “You hurt me”.
Humans know what is right and what is wrong without being taught it; it is part of the inbuilt survival mechanism, but they often chose to ignore it. They lie to themselves, It is for this reason that the first prophet of the world religions, Zarathustra, came to the philosophy of dualism, the truth and the lie that lays at the basis of all world religions today.
He was the one person, the only wise man to be accepted by all the religious Philosophers of the time when the then known ruler of the world, the king of kings who ruled from Iran (Persia), had gathered at his court representatives of all religions as ambassadors of his subject vassal nations. He did not take kings or princes as ambassadors; he took their wise and noble advisor's. The magi, wizards and shaman of the nations.
It’s through this means that the diverse traditions of the many shamanistic, pagan, herbalist, healers, astrologers, astronomers, mathematicians, alchemists, seers and other wise and respected people of the lands became organized religions complete with hierarchal systems of power. And the great corruption of truth was begun. The long and the short of it in the end is that modern paganism is now being reborn and beginning the slow and difficult climb back to the position of reclaiming its origins, roots and claiming its position as defender of the planet against the environmental catastrophe that has been the product of the so-called civilized world run by the major religions of the last two millenniums.
Pagan peoples who truly practice the reality of their beliefs will be the only people to survive in the event of the total collapse of the industrial civilized world that will be coming about, either by natural catastrophe, or by the war, famine and pestilence that the Christian /Jewish / Muslim religious practitioners will have visited on us all by their continued belief and determination to bring about the prophesy of their own writings.
They who are responsible for that within their own hierarchy know the truth of what I say on this matter. It is for this reason that I chose the name, Sophiamorta, meaning ‘Wise mistress of the house death’ for my blog name.
I am in the process of writing a much longer book on Paganism and currently am working on designs for my own tarot pack with accompanying book of explanations. This is an effort to bring the tarot into the 21st century.
I truly believe that the roots of pagan and Shamanistic beliefs hold a very real warning and message for the modern world. It is for that very reason that the state world religions have for century's tried to stamp out and frighten people into submission. Forcing them to join the state accepted religious practices as a means of total control and subjugation of individual power.
In the beginnings of all pagan practices, the tribes hunters or planters would come to the pagan practioners for advice on when and what to hunt, to plant, where to build, when was the best time to marry, would there be children, or was there something that could be done to change the lack of children. It followers then that to be a good pagan practitioner, you had to have the well-being of the land, the tribe, and the environment as a firm part of your understanding and practices.
Otherwise you would not be of use to the community for long. Your health and well-being depended on how well you aided the people who looked to you for advice and support as the wise shaman of the tribe. The job of the pagan shaman was to learn and disseminate the information and wisdom for the good of the tribe and the environment that the people inhabited. Without fear or favor to any individual on a completely altruistic fashion.
And this is the role that needs to be reclaimed in the modern world if we are to do anything of use for the human race today.
