Little One -
Quiet One -
Your time is almost done.
Lost and Lonely -
Scared and Hungry -
You came to us.
Out of the woodpile jumble -
From under covered slab -
Back behind the garage -
You appeared one night.
We - as human family - were moving.
Moving from 29454 to 7317.
You came with us.
It's been eight years.
You were not a kitten.
You were not all that old either.
With Serena and Sandy You made the
back garden/green room Your place.
Your space.
Your feline domain.
Time passes.
Nothing mortal lasts forever.
So tiny once You were.
So frail and thin again You are.
It's not been a good few weeks for You.
You sit in the sun -
Curled up in Your cat condo -
or stretched out upon Your table -
But now -
even getting up from the carpeted floor
is a slow, painful struggle.
You are not eating Your food.
You are not drinking any water.
Your ending moments are very near.
It's been good to have You here.
You shall be so very greatly missed.
Bast of the Cats knows.
Bast is ready and waiting for You.
I requested Her help last night.
Here today -
in Father Sun's light -
I sit here writing these words of final departure.
You liked Your laps.
You liked Serena sleeping with You.
You never did like sleeping alone in Your cage at night.
You were not abandoned.
Family did it that way.
I would not do that.
You know that.
You should be in here sleeping with us.
Not alone.
Not ever alone -
away in a cage.
You are now free.
Never more any cages for You.
You can sleep anyplace You want.....
Bast -
Another familiar is going off-duty.
She likes sunshine -
Clean, cool water -
A clean box -
Soft food,
and a lap for napping.
Bast -
The Household is loosing another life.
Sherri is returning home.
This Household is going slowly silent.
Silent, Empty and Lifeless.....
Bast -
Accept Home Your Daughter.
I send Her home to You.
She was a good Companion and Familiar.
Sherri -
Into Bast's Care I commend Your spirit.
In Her soft and gentle caress -
Riding upon a certain dragon's steady mount -
M'Lady Sherri -
I Send You Home.....
Carry On, Striped-Tail.
