On Friday the 13th of April, 2007, just after midnight, Jim Gillette crossed over from his partner Melissa's arms into the arms of the Old Ones.
Melissa was lying next to him and holding him. Other friends were able to touch him, sing to him, and talk to him as he passed.
He died in Circle, and was sent on with ceremonial farewell. We encouraged him to find and greet Victor, Gabriel, and others who had gone before.
Jim was well-known and well-loved in the San Francisco Bay Area Feri Tradition community, who knew him as a wonderful teacher, fine ritualist, and good friend.
Jim had suffered from a long illness. He was an incredible fighter--hospital staff called him "The Phoenix" because he kept coming back from the edge of Death. He was also a very spiritually wise person, who knew and liked himself well enough that he had nothing to prove. As a result, he was strong enough to be one of the gentlest and most compassionate souls I have ever met.
