I am pleased to announce that on this Full Moon just past Phosphoros received his Second Degree elevation in the Waxing Moon Tradition.
Phosphoros (Witchvox profile here: LINK) has actually been working at Second Degree level for a very long time, but I hadn't performed his elevation ceremony until now because I wanted to refine the ritual to better reflect certain aspects of our Tradition. So now his long-overdue Second Degree is official!
All this time, Phosphoros has been working very hard on his own personal Work as well as in service to the Circle and to the larger community. In addition to his work with Waxing Moon Circle and the Temple of Inanna and Dumuzi, he has presented talks, classes, and rituals at MerryMeet and PantheaCon, as well as for the San Jose Magickal Meetup Group and the Palo Alto Area Pagan Meetup Group.
He has brought to these events his special expertise in ancient Greek practice: his senior thesis for his B.A. in Classics (that is, Greco-Roman Studies) was on ancient rituals in honor of Dionysos. He has given additional study to the ancient Greek magical papyri and to NeoPlatonism, the Pagan religion that was the chief rival to Christianity before the fall of Rome.
