| A Fresh Start In The New Year

Last year has come to an end and a new year has begun. As we usher in the new year and welcome it with revelry, why not begin it with a fresh new start? Many people allow their past failures from the previous year or years to interfere with the current one. The universe and natural environment works in cycles. Your life is no different.
We are susceptible to the same cycles or we can choose to create new cycles. If you have made a series of bad decisions in the past, do not let them haunt you. Begin this year by starting a new cycle of good decisions and an attitude of prosperity.
The universe is a plentiful place full of bounty. It is part of our nature to hold on to the past, both good and bad. This is part of what forms our attitude and outlook on life. Unfortunately, many of us tend to have the habit of holding onto the bad memories more strongly than the good ones. This is often due to the emotions that are attached to them.
Basic psychology teaches us that we learn our attitude and we are able to change it. This is why politicians spend so much money marketing and advertising to the public in order to change and create a better image about themselves. Thus, changing and shaping our attitude towards them.
Our attitude shapes the choices we make and our outlook on life.
Why is this information so important? It is important because our greatest gift from the Gods is that of free will. One of the most important things that many forget is that we have a choice. It is these choices that shape our lives and future choices. In that, it is up to us how we choose to live our lives.
Will we allow ourselves to be haunted by failure and self-loathing? Or, will we allow ourselves to experience the joy and love our time on Earth has to offer?
The choice is entirely up to you.
Part of our evolution and spiritual and mental development is learning to let go of things that no longer help us in our lives (detract us from progress and inhibit growth) . The art of letting go of the past and past mistakes and failure is something we all have to learn. It is not as easy for some as it is for others. A major part of letting go is learning from the experiences we have had.
Many people experience life’s lessons repeatedly but never quite grasp their meaning or relevance. Thus, they are doomed to repeat the cycle until they learn the lesson they are being taught (the universe is trying to teach them) . This could be something such as poor decision making with finances, choosing the wrong people to be around, etc.
In addition, another important feature of letting go is realizing that you have made a mistake and accepting it. It is imperative that you do not blame it on some external source and realize that it is an internal process.
Taking into consideration how our attitudes and decisions shape our lives there are many that experience the same problems over and over. For example, have you ever noticed that there are some people that just don’t seem to get out of debt? They constantly pile up more and more debt. It is because they continue to make the same decisions.
The definition of insanity is repeating the same action and expecting a different response.
Things will not change until you do.
There are many that can not accept this simple concept because it forces them to look within and accept the fact that they are not perfect. This is a flaw that has been within us since time immemorial. But the best part is, it is okay not to be perfect.
As simple as that statement is, it is quite profound. Once again, It is okay to not be perfect. Developing this attitude and realizing that life is a journey of self-discovery and development is a big part of the picture.
Many people innately know that you should maintain a positive attitude towards life but they do not know why. Your attitude is so important because it will affect the decisions you make and what situations you draw towards you.
A devil may care attitude can lead to dangerous situations.
A negative attitude can lead to the creation several more negative situations.
In this respect, a positive, life affirming attitude can lead towards more positive situations. In addition to those generalized ideas of attitude, there are two specific kinds of attitudes or mentalities to consider.
The mentality in which you feel you have control over the world around you and your circumstances is known as an internal locus of control. The mentality that your life is up to chance and fate is known as an external locus of control. These two mentalities can give you a deeper insight into your inner drive.
Do you participate in life actively or watch it pass you by passively from the sidelines?
The simple fact of the matter is, the internal decisions you make will impact and change the external circumstances around you. Whether you realize it or not, it is your decisions that create the world around you.
All of life is interdependent on one another. Every decision you make, creates an impact and ripple effect on the world around it as insignificant as it may seem.
Within you, you have the power to create and change. The gods have given you free will and with it, you go through life able to make any choice you wish.
Will you doom yourself to repeating the same cycle or will you change the cycle and make each year an improvement over the previous?
It is easier to make each year better due to the experience you gained from the previous year. The decision is up to you. Each year can be better than the one before.
Next year we will again ring in another ‘first day’. Will you repeat the problems of the past year… or make new wonderful memories?
Start the new year with a big smile and the realization that it will be a better year because you choose to make it so.
