Blade of the Sidhe (Wren Walker and Fritz Jung)
A soft purple glimmer breaks over the hill All while the land is calm and still Ripples break from the silver pond A power strikes from far beyond
A golden shaft of light breaks free beneath the surface lies destiny Wayland's magic forged in hard steel Sets the spell now and makes it real
Excaliber, Come set us free Shows us what we're meant to be Faerie faith, it's never gone Sword to Sword the power flows on...
A pale fair hand all draped in white holds the hilt of the sword of light Sunshine sets the runes a flame Well it breaks the silence reveals the name
Three times branished the time is come Those of the blood can hear it's song Strength and love is ours today joined as one now human and Fey
Excaliber, Come set us free Shows us what we're meant to be Faerie faith, it's never gone Sword to Sword the power flows on...
Well... oh what we've known for so long Witch to Witch It flows on Sword of the light Blade of the Sidhe Holds the truth Sets us free
Faerie faith is never gone Faerie faith___ Is never gone !

For July 2001 I am honored to offer a tune called Blade of the Sidhe.
In the final days of the CFOTD project it was a few weeks before Starwood (my planned release date) and I only had 10 tunes completed. I needed a couple more to finish this up and I needed them fast. Wren and I had been dating for a few months at this point and she was "sleeping over" ... I had talked about doing a tune in 3/4 (your basic "waltz thru the heather" kind of feel) ... Wren, ever the vampire in those days, was typically up all night and one morning I awoke to a wonderful gift from her. During the night she had whipped out the lyrics to this tune. Thanks Honey!
With the Pagan community all abuzz about this weeks premier of the TV mini-series "Mists of Avalon" it makes sense to give this tune away at this time.
Blade of the Sidhe was an awkward tune to write (musically) and record. As a Rock Drummer, the 3/4 time signature was not a natural feel for me but I did gave this my all. this tune features some solid harmonies as well as some acoustic guitar harmonics that really worked.
A Quick Listen: It's been a couple of years since I have even listened to this tune, but to help jog the memory I just gave the mp3 file a spin... Hummmm, The accuracy of the rhythm is tighter than I remembered... The simple two part acoustic guitar sounds nice in stereo and in many spots the 3 part vox harmonies really do work.
In celebration of the "legend", Wren and I offer this gift of music from us to you.
