Staring at the Trees (Words and Music: Fritz Jung)
Tell me what you know and let me go Reach up to the sky don't wanna know Love your tasty plan, back on my side Work that talisman, drive me inside
I see that you need love, don't we all You watch me from above, it's me that falls Troubles in the breeze, sappin' life Too rich company, riding high on love
Mighty Oak, fed by Bri Branches swayin' in the breeze Your amber holds our history, Yea Hey... I'm Staring at the trees !
Nutrition from the Earth, won't ya take it up There's just one way to grow Strait up ! Chain saw breakin' history People taking more than they need
Mighty Oak, fed by Bri Branches swayin' in the breeze Your amber holds our history, Yea Hey... I'm Staring at the trees !

For August 2001 I am honored to offer a tune called Staring at the Trees. A bouncy composition, with sexual overtones, that simply celebrates my love for trees and the magick that they are so rich with.
Oddly, this tune was the most fun piece to record for this project and is a perfect example of words tossed on a canvas for the melody line. I'd have to say that this is my fave track from these sessions. It was both and easy and fun song to record.
Staring at the Trees is all about groove and feel. I understand that most folks listen to music and actually pay attention to the lyrics. For me this has never been the case. As a "sound and feel" kinda guy, lyrics are the last thing I focus on. This tune is a good example of how many of us compose tunes. Personally, I start with a groove and flesh out the melody with any words that come into my head. This creates a 'scratch vocal'... Typically I go back and write some proper words and then re-record the vocals. With this tune, the scratch vocal trax remained. This is mostly due to the fact that even though the lyrics are a throw a way, I just loved the way they felt and the fun I had tossing them out there.
A Quick Listen: It's been a couple of years since I have even listened to this tune, but to help jog the memory I just gave the mp3 file a spin... I am quite happy with the feel of the tune and really don't care that the lyrics are a bit silly. The drum rolls really seem t drive this piece and mulit-vox parts, abet a stretch for these pipes were a hoot. I had forgotten that this piece has an interesting false ending (dead stop) ... that picks back up for a fun "out chorus".
So, if you are a 'words only' type of Witch, you will no doubt be disappointed. If you just enjoy a fun tune you may just find yourself smiling while listening to this little ditty.
