Throw Your Arms (Around Me) (Words and Music: Mark Seymour)
I will come to you at night time and I will raise you from your scream. I will kiss you in all places as I go running down your street
I will squeeze the life right out of you I will make you laugh and cry And we will never forget it I will make you call my name as you shout to the blue summer SKY!
And we may never meet again So shed your skin let's get started And you will throw... your arms around me Yes you will throw... your arms around me
I will come to you at day time and i will climb into your bed I will kiss you in 155 places as I go swimming around in your head
I will squeeze the life right out of you I will make you laugh and cry And we will never forget it I will make you call my name as you shout to the blue summer SKY!
And we may never meet again So shed your skin let's get started And you will throw... your arms... around me Yes you will throw... your arms... around me |
This week I offer, as promised, yet another obscure cover tune (meaning that I didn't write it) as part of our music give-a-way. Although this is NOT a Pagan tune it was created during the sessions for the "Celtic Feast of the Dead" CD and done just for fun. This tune was blast to both record and sing.
Throw Your Arms (Around Me) is one of those tunes that most folks just seem to like. A feel good tune that, to me, notes all that is good about pagans uniting face to face at gatherings.
Written by Hunters and Collectors band mate Mark Seymour in Australia in the early 1990's this tune is an unofficial local classic and has been covered by many New Zealand/Australian artists including NZ favorite sons... "Crowded House".
The Recording: A minimalist approach was taken in the recording of this tune. Instruments included an Alvarez DY-73 acoustic guitar, Alesis Hr-16 drum box and an Ibanez Bass. Vocal parts are plentiful and include a nice 4 part harmony part going into and including the chorus. The "middle eight" was written as filler by this Witch due to a "hole" in the drum pattern. Fave part? That would have to be the way the vox harmony "hit the mark" on the word "SKY" leading to the chorus "
Take this tune with the love and light in which it was recorded!
