For those who have not been to Brushwood, its time to check this wonderful 150 acres, hot tub, swimming pool (heated), flush toilets in the woods, resturant, hardware store, bar, and cafeteria out. My blessings to Frank, Darlene, Theresa, Roy Jones and all the others who worked Sirius, for making this a really wonderful festival. Work was being done here. The kind of work that one wishes would happen at all the festivals. From the workshops, ceremonies (especially the Tobbacco Ritual. Roy had planted tobbacco this spring, and a group of medicine workers stood amongst the plants to work the magik of the Standing Ones to give the gift to the Ancients). By the way, to the right is a untouched photo of Roy Jones sitting down. Yes its real, I have witnesses who saw the same apparition, I we caught it on film. He does sit down. its just not often

300-400 people were present, working as a community deeply involved with the Mysteries of the ancients. This festival became a time to closely communitcate with one and another of different walks and faith, to combine a rich glow of magik to spread out to the universe. Family.... this is what Sirius Rising is about.

The food provided by Brushwood Cafe was excellant, an exciting Costume Show, (a big thanks to Bunny, who made most of the incredible costumes for the people) was a big hit. The drumming was grounded and in tune with the land. The fireworks display was awesome, and poor Frank was almost run over by people giving gratitude for a wonderful time. If you have never gone to Sirius Rising, then you should mark this festival on your calender now.

One thing that I've noticed, and had others tell me, is that Sirius Rising Festival is a wonderful way to get grounded for Starwood. What a smooth transistion it made for the people.

Wah Do to all the people who made Sirius what it was, and knowing that next year it can only get bigger and better. Ho...!

Starwood XVIII - Sherman, NY - Brushwood Folklore Center (July 21st. - 26th, '98)

And then, after grounding during Sirius, I sat outside Sunday night by the fire,...and it after car coming in. You could feel the energy start to rise once more, but knowing that this coming intensity was different, the excitement of the land changed. I noticed that I was keeping a tempo to whatever I was doing. Moving sharper, seeing the energy coming onto the field, gettin' ready for the fun..........

Whoaaaaa.......! Trying to do a complete review of Starwood, well, can it really be done? This was undoubtably the best festival in all that I have done, and I have about 150 under my belt in the ten years of being in the community. Starwood was fantastic, exhilerating, wonderful, get down and learn and then fill your inner child and have a blast. Wah Do to A.C.E, the Chameleons and the Frank Barney Staff. You have given the people a shining time, that which many have been seeking.

Starwood offers the community a wonderful group of well known Speakers, Teachers and Entertainers. I've always thought of Starwood as sort of a light learning/working Community College. The varity of teachings offered at this Starwood was the best yet. And you could feel the acceptance as the community learned and bonded together. This Starwood for workshops was truly deal for your money.

Drumming?: Did someone mention drumming. What have you heard about Starwood drumming? Well, standing in the Starwood Circle at the Fire...well, ya know, its...just..farout.! The Master drummers that Starwood had to offer this year was unbeleivable. Walking around to all the different Drum circles, learning and playing. You could not find this anywhere else. There were more drums at this Starwood than ever. Figures that the Drumming community is the fastest growing part of the pagan community.

Food: Brushwood Cafe and Phils Grill out did themselves once again with the delightful Starwood meals. To Phil and Paula and their crew, working day and night, I did see them once at the fire..exhausted, but to them, thank you for bringing gourmet food to Starwood. It was fun not to do dishes. And the Starwood Bar....Well hey, it keeps them off the road ya know.

Fire: ya mean the Fire... the Saturday Night FIRE... Kudos to Jason and the Fire People. What a Fire... I do inner Fire Security... and when I say "Move Back", hey, my ass is burning.. so move back. This Starwood fire had a different energy, it was more directional, more focused, more intentional. Thank you Susan and Ian of the Starwood Chamelions, thank you for showing us the entrance to the path of Spirit atStarwood.

Entertainment was at its top peak this year. Every night, whether it was on stage, at the cafe, puffer dome, at White Deer's, all of these wonderful people that kept the energy going nonstop. I don't believe that you could find the type, the length, and the quality of what was brought forth in this years entertainment. Only thing missing was Velvet Hammer. (Listen A.C.E, you should get these people).

I honor all the A.C.E. people, Brushwood Staff, Teachers, Sharers, Drummers, and the Spirits at Starwood. If you want their names, their photos, their teachings. Then go to the Starwood XVIII web site. If the next Starwood is going to be better than this years, as the pattern has been, then this is a do not miss event. I give this Starwood a 9 on a one to ten scale. These people and the community will always do better. I mean...come on....look at us.
